Title: Please help the wuss (re installation of Uni and NL)
Post by: sabra on 2005 November 28, 18:35:52
OK, behind the curve as always, I've just gotten up the nerve to install Uni.

Can I wait and play a few days before I tackle the patch?  I'm only interested in Uni for the young adult meshes at this point--won't be playing the college stuff for awhile.

Also, I removed my whole Downloads folder before installing.  Can I put back everything except for the two or three mods I have?  I'm pretty sure all my downloaded objects are Uni compliant.

Is there any advantage to installing NL right away, or should I wait and see how Uni goes?

Thanks and smoochies (if JP allows me to keep my lips).

It won't hurt you to put your downloads back.  object recolors that are not EP ready will flash blue when you go to place them. Check to see if they have been updated and delete those that are not.  The YA meshes are not usable for Adults... unless you convert them.  Unless motoki's elder equity clothing mod changes that.  Nightlife actually opens up one  or two of the dresses that were Teen and YA for adults.
If you are not going to play University I'd go ahead and install NIghtlife and the official patch for it.  The dating options for Nightlife and the cars (yep ones the sims will drive) make it worth installing NL.

No more waiting for the taxi...

Thanks, my game seems to have survived the Uni installation.  And now off to NL.  Maybe tomorrow.

You get the smoochies, Dewshine. ;D

Sorry, one more thing (is there an edit button that I'm missing?) ???

How would I go about enabling YA skins for adults?  I like the styles a whole lot better than many of the adult everyday wear.

TIA again. :)

first try Motoki's mod... it's in peasntry section here, and see if that does it. otherwise... DatGen has a feature that will do it for custom clothes. OR... if you like simPE

use bodyshop to copy the file you want into it's own package.
open the new package and change the age numbers...

I suppose I could be clearer...

use bodyshop to export and import so you have a package file in "SavedSims"
Open that file in simPE
Look on the Resources Tree for "Property Set"
Open the property set into the Plugin view
Look for the "Age (dtIneger)" line
click on it
in the boxes to the side the info will appear
what you want to do is change the numbers from 0x00000040 to 0x00000008.
Or tell me which outfits you want and I'll unlock the meshes for you... Here is the "Skater" shorts for adult men... (the ones with the chains and tatoos)

[404'ed!]

Thank you, Dewshine...I may just try that.  And thank you too Bangelnuts for the explanation.

If you really want to play a few days before putting a patch in, you should add JM's critical Uni fixes beforehand - otherwise you will risk creating serious problems - including some that won't appear until later, by which time it's too late.

Now I'm scared.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll collect the fixes right away.
