I realize that 'smooth edges' is suppose to make the game look nicer, but I can't use it because it makes everything too blurry...
It could be that!? (in your display settings)

You need to turn up your graphic settings in your game options. When you install Nightlife it makes all the setting revert to default lowest.

I found this so helpful at setting up my game graphics, other than that I have no advice.  Sorry... :(

If you've checked your in game graphics settings and they are up high but you still have the problem, you might find this thread  (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=2451.0) helpful.

Ugh, I've been getting a lot of blurring lately, and I checked my game settings. I don't even have the option for Smooth Edges (damn, I hate my video card  >:().  I had everything on medium, which in the past has been fine, except textures which was on high, and now I've turned it down to medium.  I'll check it later to see if that helps at all.

Maybe you guys have the mystery blurring that I have on occasion. Right now things are crystal clear. Tomorrow they may not be, and I have no idea why.

Mine seem to change from minute to minute (and sometimes outfit to outfit).  :-\

I used to get blurry textures in busy lots with my old video card, even with all the detail settings turned up. With my current card, the details are always sharp.

My card is pretty good, though, so I don't think it's that. I get the blurriness on certain outfits, too, sometimes. And turning the settings down to the lowest setting made it clearer than the highest settings, which is where I usually keep my settings. Both times I had this, I shut down my laptop and restarted the game, and things were clear again. I didn't adjust any settings anywhere. I'm baffled.

What kind of a card do you have, Brynne? I think the amount of RAM on the video card is one of the main things that matters for the random blurring problem.

Ati Radeon 9700 with 128 dedicated.

I have an Atari 2600 and it works just fine.

Ati Radeon 9700 with 128 dedicated.

I had the blurring problem with a 128mb card, as well (it was also Radeon, I think it was 9600 XT). My current one has 256mb of RAM (plus some other differences, and it's an nVidia card). 128mb just doesn't seem to be enough to run the game at maximum graphics settings and with good results in all situations, in my personal experience.

It's very odd, though. I've only had this problem twice. The rest of the time it's fine on the highest settings (with the exception of reflections, which I keep off). The only thing I can guess is it's from a marathon gaming session. I guess. I tend to leave the game running for days at a time, so I guess exactly twice I let it run a bit too long.

For days at a time?  :o I'm thinking that might be a part of the problem  :D.

You mean you turn it off even if you don't have to change something in it?
