1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Traits Cheat Sheet - Work in Progress on: 2009 July 05, 04:46:56
Is it possible via addtrait to give a sim two conflicting traits, such as good and evil both? Or is this something that would lead to VBTs?

Selecting some traits renders others unselectable. Good and evil is one such combination; neat and slob is another obvious one I recall.

Why the hating on nectarines?
Zazazu said it best:

Fruit should not be hairy.

I have never encountered a hairy nectarine.

How does one gain the ability to write a Childrens novel?

I believe by having a certain level of painting skill - level 4 or possibly 5.

Okay, has anyone figured out how to place two decorations on the same wall section yet?  I can move them up and down fine, but it won't let me place the second object.

Pretty sure this was already addressed in this thread, moveobjects on.

AL introduced a new feature - you press Ctrl and Alt together and then it will let you put more things on the same wall, without using move objects.

Where does RAM enter into this?

I believe because of Ayslhyn's prior posting history, notably, this:

So far I haven't had anybody get the option to teach a nursery rhyme to anybody. Are there some skill or hobby requirements for this option to appear?

I noted the other day when I was playing that the option only seemed to come up when the toddler was on the ground - ie if I clicked while my sim was holding the toddler it didn't appear, but once he put the kid down it did.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This is why EAxis sims should never breed on: 2008 March 23, 04:13:39
Heh, that kind of thing is why I am no good with setting up those sorts of rules - I cannot stick to them.  I would have taken one look at him and arranged a tragic fire, or 'random' satellite drop.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Going off lot can be useful on: 2008 March 23, 04:09:47
Squinge used to have something that let the 'take a spin' in a car action be extended.  It would pop up a box asking if you wanted the sims to come back yet or something. I am reasonably sure that their motives decayed while off-lot, but it's a long time since I had it installed. It was called something like 'cruise till you're done' if you wanted to look on the graveyard, but with the car thing it may not suit your theme.

While this one, as well as the sick looking skin, looks as though the face has been "Simmerized". Eurgh.

Heh, that tutorial is great:

11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Secondary Aspiration bonuses on: 2008 March 05, 07:23:45
I am only able to choose three bonuses - the first is being able to choose a secondary aspiration, then three bonuses that someone with that asp as a first choice would have.  For example, when I chose a secondary aspiration of family, I could select up to the plead with social worker thing, but didn't get the twins 'bonus' that a Family sim would have.

I have not chosen the grilled cheese aspiration as a secondary one yet though. I do have a sim whose LTA points I haven't spent yet, so I'll go see what happens..

ETA: Chose a secondary asp of grilled cheese, then was able to select bottomless stomach, slower bladder and finally paint grilled cheese - no conjuring.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 03, 05:08:15
I just checked one of my sim's memories, and he's BFFs with his grandparents... except they died long before I even installed FT. His twin sister doesn't have the BFF memory for them though she was just regular Best Friends with them before they died. The BFF memories of the grandparents are in between other family members who are still alive.

The BFF thing is definitely borked. I had one of my sims randomly gain 6 BFFs, all while she was sleeping. There was no interaction whatsoever taking place. Two of my sims (twins) also randomly became BFFs with each other while they slept. Damn EAxis.  Angry

I gather that this is as intended - that the game updates BFFs on a cycle based on being best friends for a certain amount of time, and does not need an interaction to happen.

JM has stated in his BFFs are for 12s hack thread in the Firing Range that he will add a check to stop the dead BFF thing.  http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,11252.0.html
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 02, 09:56:10
Another annoyance just struck. Can you examine any of the bugs your sims collect in their bug collection box? My box looks empty even when sims have collected at least half a dozen bugs/butterflies. They also just have the option to view and nothing else.

When I choose 'view' there is a popup that shows the bugs they've collected - it's a bit like the photo album one from BV.
14  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: BFFs Are For 12s! on: 2008 March 02, 00:17:31
Since installing this, my sim has gained memories of becoming BFFs with her long-dead grandparents.

No more animation errors on the biz lot, played for about six hours. Did get a third Best of the Best. Someone kept whistling, too, and I couldn't figure out who. Is that an autonomous music action?

Yeah, I think so, I had a sim doing that earlier.  They seem to have new idling animations for the hobbies - my science sim was playing with a puzzle thing, and the fitness ones were doing leg stretches.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 February 29, 04:52:17
Man, I'm on a roll... I noticed that even when really happy - platinum mood, high motives - my sims don't play the violin very long.  Also, I'm not getting a sound when they play.  I will report this on the maxis boards too.

I believe they stop playing when their fun maxes out.

I have heard sound from the violin.   I have always found the sound on instruments to be fussy about game speed - if i speed up or slow down the game once they start playing I do not hear the sound for the entirety of that time of playing.

I don't believe a damn word that comes out of that asshole's mouth.  Massive Shithead couldn't care less about the paying customers and is only posting what EA wants him to post.

It would be more dishonest for him to pretend that threads on the BBS have any hope of changing the company's policy. If you don't believe the numbers he's posted, fine, but his advice about the best way to make your dissatisfaction known makes sense to me.

Oh right, I was reading steps ahead of that.  Then type "cd\"  to get back to C: (no quotes) shorty.

Ok, here's the problem. When I open up the DOS prompt, I get this: http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/8803/yafsscreen003gh0.jpg If I type anything, it tells me it's not a correct path, but I can't figure out how to remove what's already there (the C:\Documents and Settings/Krystan) Does that make any sense? I'm not exactly computer illiterate, (I manage to do most basic stuff like formatting drives, installing parts, etc) but I've just never had any reason to do anything in DOS.

Type
cd c:\windows\system32
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 October 08, 06:02:17
I did that, but I'm unsure what to do next. My brother told me to go to Start/Run and type in "cmd". Well, I did that, but then when I typed in that first line it tells you to enter, I got some message about C:\ not being a command or something. I think it's because it's already pointing to my My Documents folder and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. My brother said he hasn't used that in ages, so he doesn't remember.

I don't think it's advisable to mess with the registry if you don't know how to use some simple DOS commands.

I know someone else here had problems with the TJ visitor controller and the 'walk to..' thing. I do not know if it has since been updated.

I knew not of the Magic Wand tool, and cannot believe I hadn't thought of SimPE.   Undecided  Will try now.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Cat stuck in house that thinks residents are still on vacation on: 2007 October 06, 10:51:54
I had an issue with a family that got stuck on vacation - clicking on their house took me to the lot they were staying on, but it was in build mode. I had not messed with zoning cheats, so I do not know what caused it.
I recovered them by summoning to another family and moving them to a new place.  However, I couldn't summon their cat, who was of course at home while they were on vacation.
The cat is now stuck in their old house, which has a dark green plumbob above, and says the family is still on vacation.  I can't bulldoze, move it out, or anything.  Any suggestions? I don't even care about the cat that much ( Shocked ) but it will be a bit annoying having that house like that forever.
24  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti Vacation Actions: Death to all Nesses on: 2007 September 22, 06:58:16
This isn't intended to stop greetings spreading in the home hood.  It just restricts locals to appropriate greetings in vacation hoods, but your own sims can do whichever greetings they please.
