Maybe I should use American English instead next time.

4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Home Business, Moving House? on: 2008 February 19, 20:05:36
thanks,    I didnt realise the high business rating would affect the house worth though,   nice one...
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Home Business, Moving House? on: 2008 February 19, 19:09:21
Hi guys, how are you all.

Just a quick question, I have a successful Home Business with many loyal customers, thing is the small home is no longer big enough, so the question is, if I get my sim to move house will the business come too aswell as all them loyal customers, or will I have to start the business from scratch again.

6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Big problem after converting Lot Type on: 2007 September 02, 17:05:05
Well I have deleted the Lot now, but the mail box and trash can from the collection where greyed out in all modes weather there was a family associated with the lot or not.

never mind.

I've managed to rebuild the lot identically anyway.

thanks for your responses.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Big problem after converting Lot Type on: 2007 September 02, 15:38:16
Hi, thanks for the response, I couldn't get them collections to work correctly,  everything within them was greyed out and I couldn't place any of them.

Doesn't matter, I suppose I will just rebuild the lot as a residential from scratch.

Thanks.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Big problem after converting Lot Type on: 2007 September 02, 11:20:06
Hi everyone.

Ok, so here it is, after a while out of the game I decided to start playing again, I started playing with a a house of to friends who just finished college (uni) and decided that they would open up a fashion store. After buying a community lot and successfully running the business, I decided I wanted them to be able to convert the business lot and live their too.

So, i decided the best way to do this was to sell the community lot,  then enter the lot in build mode, make my modifications to the building (adding two extra stoies for them to live in) without touching the actual store under them, and then use the cheat to convert the lot type to a residential lot (changeLotZoning residential).
All this seemed to go fine and once back into the neighbourhood screen the Lot correctly showed up as being residential so I decided to move the household over from their old house.

This is when I walked into a brick wall, once I moved them to the lot, as expected the game automatically loaded the lot, but once loaded it just showed the lot as if I was in construction mode for a lot with no residents. No sims where present on the lot and LIVE mode was greyed out, only allowing me access to build and buy modes. I then exited the lot and looked at from the neighbourhood screen and that lot is properly displaying that them two sims do live their. But when I go into the lot the same thing happens. I have tried moving them out and then back in again with no luck. I have noticed that there is not a mailbox or trash can on the lot (as it used to be a community lot) and wondered if this was the reason for the problems.

Could anyone help me out with this problem.

ps. I have all 5 expansion packs, but none of the booster packs.

Thanks to anyone who helps.

11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Overpaying employees? need help. on: 2006 May 29, 13:44:29
Hey everyone, I have recently come accross an big problem in my game, I have had OFB since launch now and after not really using the bussiness part for a few weeks now that I have come back to a sim with a bussiness I have noticed that every hour when employees are being payed they get payed about 10 times all at once. Now this might be good for the employees but not good for my bussiness as it is giong very bankcrupt very quickely.

Does anyone have any idea which hack could be causing this to happen.

The only pay related hack i got I have taken out but to no avail.

Any help would be much appriciated.
Thanks

That is the 'Neighborhood view fix' which is what I believe you want
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: HELP on: 2006 March 26, 17:10:04
yeh I already have the patch installed.

I dont really think its a hack which was the problem,  as they are all back now and it is still fine, I think it was just a general eroor, and the removing of my hack caused it to reset.

Thanks for the help guys.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: HELP on: 2006 March 26, 16:40:09
well I have just takin out all my hacks and it seems to work fine now.

I have no idea why it happened, and i havent installed any new hacks or custom content in more than a week, and I have been fine up til now.

thanks again.
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: HELP on: 2006 March 26, 16:21:20
Well I tried what you suggested but it had no effect.

The loading screen comes up and the animation runs, with the lights moving accross to the right and then shooting back to the left, but after that it just stalls.
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / HELP on: 2006 March 26, 15:24:04
Hi everyone,  I have encountered a problem with one of my OFB owned community lots.
I can no longer loadup either the community lot or the home lot of the owner as the are traped in the community lot.

How it Happened,   well the owner was at her store and everything was acting normally, the store was closed so their was only her on the lot. I went into 'BUY' mode to add a few new items to be sold. I actually purcahsed the 'Phone, MP3, Game device' vending machine and then i selected it as sellable. well when I retuned to 'LIVE' mode i found my sim just frozen as if the game was paused,  even though it wasnt. I tried changing game speeds, pausing and unpausing and even got the lot debugger to cause errors to try and sort it but nothing worked.

Anyway, I left the lot to try and reload it, but now the game just crashes while trying to load the lot.

does anyone have any suggests as to what I can do.
I have simPE but dont know much about it, I was wondering if it had any ability to reset lots.

any help would be appreciated.

18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AMD or Intel? on: 2006 March 25, 21:07:50
The more cache on a CPU the better,

for example, the biggest difference between a the standard range CPU's ("64"+"Pentium) and the budget ("Sempron" + "Celeron") is the amount of cache on the cpu.

and just for the record its 1MB of cache not 1GB.

brief on what cache is:
Cache is like super fast ram memory which is used to store code that is going to be reused in an application, this way it has access to it imediatly at a very fast rate. Its essentially RAM but about 50 times faster. There is two type of cache on all CPU's,  called level 1 and level 2,  level one is the smaller amount but about 3 times faster than the level 2 cache.

So the more cache you have the better performance you will get.  You may not see any adition performance in initial load time of applications, but you will see improvment in the general running of them.

The system you have stated sounds like a good choice, but then again its all about how much you wanna spend.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AMD or Intel? on: 2006 March 25, 16:37:55
SLI isn't worth the money. It's pretty straight-forward, really. You get more bang for your buck with one video card in one PCI-Express x16 slot than you do with two video cards in two PCI-Express x16 slots that are now each running at x8.

Thats true about them only running at 8 speed each, but the top end Asus crossfire motherboard allows both ATi Crossfire cards to run at their Full 16 speed which can be a big advantage.

And although the sli model splits the speed between the two cards, it doesnt really matter all that much at the moment as no video card utilises all of that bandwidth anyway,  they made PCI-E has such high speeds for pure future proofing so they didnt require multiple versions like AGP has, so for the time being the fact that the available bandwidth is lower for the two cards doesnt really make a difference as they have no way of using it all anyway.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AMD or Intel? on: 2006 March 25, 15:49:22
AMD seem to be leading the way with the 64bit market as now all of their CPU's have full x64 capabilities,  even the semprons (buget range) have 64bit support.
The current amd range also have built in memory controllers which does help a little bit, but you probably wont notice it.

The main difference between AMD and Intels approch is simple,   Intel uses higher clock rate with fewer pipeline whereas AMD have slower (but not slow) clock rate but with more pipelines.  so its like comparing a 2 lane highway with a speed limit of 100mph with a 4 lane highway with a limit of 70mph.

In my experience AMD has always trumped intel in most areas, even with their budget line. The only big area which see's intel move ahead is with video encoding/decoding. It seems the higher clock rate realy shine in that area, But then again if you thinking of SLi or any of the high end graphics cards from either nVidia or ATi then they do all the encoding / decoding for most video formats anyway, so it kinda eliminates intels only advantage.

Ive been thinking of building a new PC recently too and when doin research all of the website I have seen have shown that the top line AMD outperform the intel in all gaming related areas.

As with the SLi setup, unless you are thinking about using extremely high resolutions then you probably wont need it unless you arent thinking of upgrading for a long time, and if you arent then I highly recomend the ATi crossfire option, even though most benchmarks show the SLi model performing slightly better than the crossfire, the latest ATi cards can do both HDR lighting with Shader3 and full Anti Alaising all at the same time without any performance hits,  BUT the nVidia range CANNOT do HDR and Anti Alaiasing at the same time, now although at the moment no games support both HDR and AA at the same time over the next year you will see many new games that do which is where the ATi cards will be able pull away from nVidias offerings.

hope this helps
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Techie help please on: 2006 March 22, 19:48:52
If your carefull and only download from places you know and trust then their isnt actually any need for a Anti Virus application at all.   Im a heavy internet user but I dont have any virus protection on my computers at all and I havent received any viruses trojems in a very long time, I havent even got any addware or spyware.   so, If your careful you dont need one.

and as for firewalls,  if you use any type of router setup you should be OK as nearly all have a better firewall than you can have on your PC anyway.

PS.  If you use any of the P2P programs such as KaZaa or Limeware or whatever then ignor what I sed because you definatley eed a virus scanner if you use them.

Hey guys,  Has anyone figured out how to move you home business from one lot to another without loosing business rank and your loyal customers.
24  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Lame Hires on: 2006 March 10, 14:10:50
well when you meet the person if you clcik on them with the bussiness owner selected you get the hire option.

Hey, I would like to get this, But was just wondering,  If the game has less townies to choose from, could it cause more townies to be generated by the game?
