Title: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 02, 00:36:29
Max Midwinter is a Knowledge sim, in his final term at Uni, with only a few hours to go until he and fiancee Willow Finn graduate.    Does Max want to graduate Summa Cum Laude?  Does he want to maximise the Logic Skill?  Does he even want to stargaze with telescope?  No!  he wants to woohoo in bed......and woohoo in bed.....and woohoo in bed.....and woohoo in bed .....

Should I get him a hot tub?

Get a hot date and once you have make out get in the car. Most of the time you can cycle woo-hoo, make out, over and over until the date ends or the sims need gatorade.

I think I'd get him a bed myself.

He's gopt a bed!  he woohoos with willow, they get out of bed and he wants to woohoo again, and again and again.....  and they aren't on a date!  they have their last class in a couple of hours!

I've got romance sims galore, and not one has ever shown this sort of want more than once, before they want something else, like a guitar or something!  And he's never asked for a hot-tub, and neither has she!  (Or a car, or a photobooth........)

Maybe it's something to do with the bed!  When they had an ordinary Maxis soma Sleeper, neither of them ever wanted to woohoo!  Now this is the Bedroom 5 bed from 4ESF2, and I'm beginning to wonder about it......

Yeah - but he wants to woohoo IN BED.  I don't think buying him a hot tub will help - especially if it doesn't have sheets.

The bedroom 5 Bed!

JM, I think I'll go back to my game and see if Max can go one better than Blue Soup!  8 consecutive, you say?  I wonder if Max will be satisfied with 9?

Sounds like this sim is pissing you off by acting all stupid and horney. You are his GOD! PUNISH HIM!

Kill him. Bring him back as a zombie. Make him a vampire. Turn him into a grilled cheese sim. Fail him out of college. Move him into a lot with no comfort items. Impregnate him with his own father (cheats required).

Then turn him into a furry.

That will teach him not to screw with you.

Hey, does it have anything to do with that bed...that is a luxurious bed though. I would want to woo hoo multiple times in that bed too :P

Take out that bed , leave the sim bedless and see if he still want to wooo hooo. those blasted sims...lusty creatures.

Unfortunately (or not) he fell asleep after woohoo no. 5 and woke up JUST in time to run to his final exam!  After he got back, he spun normal See a Ghost type wants!

But it's just rather odd about the bed......

At least until he gets a Hot Tub! ;D

Wouldn't anyone?

It's not so bad if there are other sims on the lot, you can leave them to it and see what the others are up to, but this game I have most of my students living in couples.

No Goths in this hood, I'm afraid.  He'll have to make do with Willow, after all, he is engaged to her.  Odd thing is, his sister Morgan is the romance sim!  and so far, she's been out of luck.......

My self-Sim (who is Knowledge) spun that want up almost immediately after creation. She's out of luck, though, as there is no Woohoo in her future.

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 March 02, 04:23:35
I've seen a lot of my sims rolling up this want, not just Knowledge, but other aspirations as well...Family, Popularity, Fortune.  Of course my Romance sims get them in with their other wants to just plain Woohoo, woohoo in hot tub, public woohoo, etc.  At least it's good for keeping your sim platinum as long as they have a willing partner.  But if they are platinum and their wants don't agree with what I want, I'll do what I want anyway.  ;D  I think sometimes the want trees get stuck in a loop or else there isn't any available wants such as when a Knowledge sim maxes out all their skills and doesn't have any more meals to learn to cook.

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?

You could try satisfying the non-woohoo wants and hope that they will breed rather than your sim ;)

Its still a starved sim. its not woo hoo that killed the sim *shrugs*
Anyway, how many times did you make the sim woo hoo. I wonder if a sim can complain about too much sex. I mean I never tried to make them make love more than once in a row ...maybe i shld now.

ZZ, after NL, Maxis mixed between the knowledge and the romance sims, because in my game too I have a loop of the want "woohoo in bed" again and again...:)

The solution is - to give them to sleep at least 3 hours, and then this want dissapears.

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 March 02, 07:56:47
Starvation by woohoo may be counted as a starvation death, but in practice they are very different things, since woohoo causes a direct motive hit which can cause instant death.

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 02, 08:49:48
Well, firstly, he did have a choice of unfulfilled wants - he hadn't maxed out any skills, he could have wanted to graduate Summa cum Laude, he could have wanted to learn to cook one of the things he's burnt - but no, he wanted to woohoo!  anyway, after he graduated, the want went away, and he had his party and went back to the neighbourhood - or so I thought!  However, when Willow was about to have her party and follow him, I happened to check the debugger, which had the option to nuke stuck move-out.  Well, what would you do?  I thought, maybe he's in trouble, and so I nuked!  He appears on the lot with all his needs in a very bad way, so he pees, has a shower, eats and drinks espresso, and he's a lot better, but I wasn't sure what to do with him since he wasn't officially living there any more.  So, I decided to leave him there and go back to the neighbourhood to check, and there he is sitting happily in the bin waiting for me to move him into a house!  But, it occurred to me, he just couldn't tear himself away from Willow!

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: Jysudo on 2006 March 02, 09:25:18
Maybe he is not interested in maximising his skills you see, zz. Your knowledge sim is  simply more interested in other diverse interests such as the gymnastics of the body and the mysteries of fireworks woo hoo.

Perhaps there is all that to it. We shouldn't worry too much  ::)

I still don't think too much sex can kill a sim. He was starved to death because he was forced to woo hoo. I bet he approaches his woo hoos looking dismayed and thinking of food instead... :-\ poor simmie.

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 02, 09:37:16
Max only got hungry AFTER he went off in the taxi - he was perfectly ok while he was in his house!

Oh, and now that Willow's moved into the house, all he wants to do is woohoo again!  and she's a family sim and her wants are more like pleasure/popularity!  It's really all very odd!

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 March 02, 09:37:43
lol- there are worse ways to go!

anyway, if you just ignore the wants and stop filling them, they should roll the standard ones.

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 02, 09:43:49
I ignore all Willow's wants to influence a sim to play with, entertain, talk to etc. another sim, but it doesn't stop her rolling them again!

Max rolled the woohoo want as soon as he moved into the house in the neighbourhood - there wasn't even a bed in the house at that point, and a romance sim would have asked for a bed!  all he wanted was a bookcase - and you can't woohoo in a bookcase!

I just think this is a pair of totally woohoo obsessed sims, but maybe getting jobs and going to work will cure them!

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 March 02, 09:48:03
I think sometimes it takes a while for it to work. I had this happen to me with a knowledge sim, I thought it was broken somehow, but eventually it went back to normal after I ignored it long enough.

As far as I can tell, the influence wants aren't related to anything. I haven't noticed popularity sims getting them more than others.

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 March 02, 09:55:07
The Woohoo want is something that just started happening since NL I think.  It doesn't mean anything.  I just ignore it if I don't want it or use it for a quick asp booster.

I did kill a professor once accidentally by having my Romance sim woohoo repeatedly with him in the hot tub.  She got hungry and went to fix some food, and he said "Bye."  But he got stuck somehow and never actually left, because the next thing I knew, all my sims were going to "sigh" over his dead body.  Woohooing repeatedly in a hot tub is easier than in a bed because you don't have to keep waking up the sims to get them to "relax" on the bed over and over.  In the hot tub, they are already cuddled, so you just click "Woohoo" and off they go.  But it's very hard on needs, so that's why they can die.

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 02, 09:57:48
Oh, I agree, the influence to clean etc are fairly common, but the ones i refer to I've noticed are usually spun by popularity and pleasure sims, especially if they are having a party.  this is when willow spun these wants, during her graduation party, but now whe seems stuck with them - she doesn't want to get married, she doesn't want to have a baby, she doesn't want to talk to a family member....really very odd.

And yes, I realise these wants keep recurring because the sim concerned is stuck in a loop, I tend to think it's funny more than worrying, and it was the funny aspect that led me to start this thread!

Rainbow - my sims don't die!

Rainbow - my sims don't die!

And thats why they don't respect you.

Sims need natural boundries. They need to know if they screw up even a little they are going to be damned to eternal torment where their only chance of release is if they catch on fire while you go to the bathroom and you forgot to push pause.

Even then they may be re-zombified.

Your sims are like the kids on Jerry Springer. Reel those out of control sims into LINE!

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: Ancient Sim on 2006 March 02, 10:43:20
I've noticed that some of my Knowledge Sims, especially those who've been to Uni and moved into the main neighbourhood with their Uni sweethearts, are asking to woo-hoo, often before they even leave the Uni lot, although it doesn't appear to be part of any loop, they're still getting the normal Knowledge Sim wants.  I've just assumed they want to learn about sex as much as anything else.  They're also asking to flirt with other Sims, although for some reason they are going for anyone they're best friends with, even if they have no lightning bolts with them, which seems more of a mistake on Maxis' part than anything else.

I'm wondering if maybe you deleted some (Romance) characters and these two have taken over their spots in the character folder?  Apparently, that can cause them to 'inherit' some of the characteristics of whoever had that number before them (in fact, I seem to remember you discussing this yourself in a thread some time ago).  It does sound a bit far-fetched to me I must admit, but anything's possible in this game.

Sanmonroe, lol, ZZ can teach you, me, and many other players how to play the game...:).

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 02, 12:04:10
Ancient, I don't remember the thread, but it certainly sounds possible.  Since I did a deleteallcharacters and then all the sims apart from two elders were CAS sims in Uni, they obviously took over the slots of the deleted characters.  I mean, I have a nasty Leo romance sim (Only one nice point) who isn't nasty and cries if someone hits him, then rubs his hands in glee at the thought of beating them up!  His partner, who is not much nicer, is a knowledge sim who thinks nothing of playing away, although he goes ballistic if he catches Kane so much as flirting!

So, maybe that's Max's problem.  He's actually a very well-balanced scorpio, with 5 nice points and extremely outgoing, so maybe he thinks he's got the wrong aspiration!

Gali, thank you!  I love compliments!

Kudos!

I find it tragic that someone can die of too much sex. In the prof's case, its certainly so. He got so tired that he couldn't get up from the hottub and got well...stuck

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 02, 12:28:08
Personally, I wouldn't care about a professor either, I'd gladly zap them all - but then I'd just get even more!  I don't know, I have more professors in my current uni than I do students!  But at least now my sims never need to meet them!  Although that darn SS Professor is forever turning up and having to get individually zapped!

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 March 02, 12:55:19
Yeah, that was the problem, it spawned another one in his place.  At least now with TwoJeffs' hack, my sims don't meet the professors anymore, like you say.  Who is the SS professor?  I know I have professors that show up uninvited.  I set TJ's zapper to ban all professors.  The sim who comes in the limo to induct your sim into the secret society is actually a cop.  If you make them selectable, you can see their icon with their police uniform on, and the three that do it are the same ones as the regular cop NPCs.  I've seen all three of them, before I got another of TJ's useful hacks, no more secret abductions.  :D

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?

I consider profs quite important. I like my sims to woo hoo thr uni.  :P and get ahem rewarded for it.

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 02, 13:09:01
It depends on what game your playing what the prof is called, but, basically, there are 22 working profs, 2 for each discipline, and 1 odd one - if you check in SimPE you'll see he has the Secret Society token.  And sometimes when your sim goes to the SS house, he or she is there too.

Oh, and I think making a friend of him makes it more likely your sim will get abducted.

That was what I was going to say!  I just figured they wanted to learn everything there was to know about it!

It seems like my elders want to woohoo in bed repeatedly.  They do it and it immediately spins up again.  And it's usually the knowledge elders who do this!  And not the YAs or adults!

I've got a few family sims like that at the moment!  They've lost the 'have a baby', 'have 10 kids' wants (they're still in childbearing years!) and constantly want to make friends with the neighbours!

I remarked a while ago on the stuck woohoo issue with knowledge Sims.  The whole thing got me wondering whether some of the programmers at EA have modded a secret skill box for woohoo: not all woohoos are animated the same: some are like flat bottles of Coke while others have Sims singing from the rafters.   I can't help thinking that Knowledge Sims just want to improve at this hidden skill. ;D

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 03, 00:58:31
And why not, I ask myself!  Even though Max has calmed down a bit now, he seems to spin the want at least once a day!

However, unlike my romance Sims, he has NEVER spun the want to woohoo with his fiancee, except as a separate culmination of a series of flirt/hug/kiss/makeout actions, usually initiated by her, because, of course, she go tthose wants.  Hardly ever now, though, she's totally hung up on influencing people!

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 March 03, 03:59:01
I just had a thought.  Have you tried having them check each other out?  That's will cause their wants to reroll.  They should then have some wants about each other, to talk, dance, tell joke, etc.  Once you start filling those, it should get the ball rolling toward mutual makeout and woohoo wants.  After that, maybe they'll get some different wants.  It's worth a try, I think.

I can't help thinking that Knowledge Sims just want to improve at this hidden skill. ;D

Well - what is this that shows up in SimPE under skills? I thought there was a romance skill?

Sims gain that through practicing "Romance" in the mirror instead of practicing speech.  It's funny to watch, but no one really knows what advantage it has.  It would be a good question to ask Pescado.

Maybe I should get Max to improve his charisma - that may be what he's really dropping hints about!  ROFL!

Well, I loaded the game, and it works fine with MyDocs on the E Drive.  However, I didn't get anything from the Check sim Out interaction - which incidentally has never worked properly in my game, the sims concerned just jump out of the action, and no wants roll at all!  Since it didn't work before I put any of my downloads back after I installed NL, I just assumed that the interaction was faulty!  Maybe I should try the second patch.....

Haha, that sounds like a good sim for Trey's Woohoo Challenge (http://www.simposieum.com/smf/index.php?topic=557.0).

I always wondered why there were 2 different interactions on the mirror.  So please ask..

I have base game only (until OFB arrives) and I had a look in simPE to see if these romance bars were there for my Sims. The bars were there, but all set at zero even for Sims I'm pretty sure practised Romance instead of Speeches.

practice is a noun and practise a verb in UK English - is there only one spelling in the US?

There is no romance skill. It's a leftover vestigial thing that is unused. Sims do not actually gain skill in it by practicing romance, and messing with it in SimPE is a bad idea.

Thanks for answering, JM.  That answers a question I've wondered about for a long time.

cwykes:  I've never heard of the word "practise."  Practice can be used as a noun or a verb.  The meaning is generally understood through the context.

It's like a lot of verbs and nouns which are formed from them - in the US they are spelled the same, in the UK there is a distinction in the spelling.  Since standard US spelling and grammar relates directly back to the 17th and 18th centuries, and developed independently of the UK, this is probably why these kind of anomalies occur - you'd probably find that one spelling was prevalent in both countries way back then.  And until Dr. Johnson wrote his famous dictionary, there was really no standard spelling, which is, for example, why so many surnames have so many different spellings for the same name.  If you didn't like the way your father spelled the family name, you could simply change it!  Nowadays to change Smith to Smyth or Smythe requires you to take positive action and spend money!

Rainbow your comment has made me twitch!  I'm sorry everyone, I just have to type this:-  UK English: I have driving lessons every Thursday.  This week I will be practising reverse parking.  In the US do you write 'practicing' ? :o

Yup.  We have Choir Practice every Wednesday where we practice the songs we will sing on Sunday.  We will be practicing for our Easter production on Saturday, and we have practice CDs for us to practice our parts at home.  We can be practicing while driving!  ;D

So why not naybor, slay (meaning sleigh) lite, etc.  Why not just bring in a phonetic alphabet and have done with it?

I think the next generation is thinking that way - heck they are even doing away with more that that: M8, L8, NE1, etc

Will there be anything left that's recognisable as language, I wonder?  And unless someone bothers to rewrite all the classics in this new code, a whole world of literature will remain a closed book to them - until they make a remake of the remake of the remake of the movie of the book......

Oh, how many times I've wanted to phonetically re-write our language!

Anywho, back to the original topic, I've yet to see just exactly how many times that want would spin up on a Knowlege sim.  I've got a couple of knowledge sims.  The husband is Dorian, the policeman (by the way, if you want to find the absolute sweetest sim in the neighborhood it's got to be this guy!), and the wife is CAS-created.  The first day in their new home I honestly thought Dorian was going to pass out before those wants stopped rolling.  I finally had to just let it end, let him eat and send him to bed.

And I've seen this over and over with Knowledge sims since NL.  Suddenly they've gone nympho!

Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 03, 23:15:05
Well, Max is male - what's the male equivalent of a nympho anyway?

But now all he wants to do is gain skill points - back to the boring old knowledge sim that he truly is, I guess!  But Willow still doesn't want to get married or have a baby - so maybe I should force the issue?

satyriasis

saˇtyˇriˇaˇsis Pronunciation (st-r-ss, st-)
n.
Excessive, often uncontrollable sexual desire in and behavior by a man.
[Late Latin satyrisis, from Greek saturisis, from saturos, satyr.]

From this article at Wikipedia:  http://encyclopedia.tfd.com/nymphomania

The disorder is now referred to as hypersexuality in both genders.

Quote
Hypersexuality describes human sexual behavior at levels high enough to be considered clinically significant.

Nymphomania was believed to be a psychological disorder peculiar to females and characterized by an overactive libido and an obsession with sex. In males the disorder was called satyriasis (for etymology of the words, see nymph and satyr). "Nymphomania" and "satyriasis" are no longer listed as specific disorders in the DSM-IV.

Nymphomania owes its name to the feminine nature spirits of Ancient Greece, known as nymphs. These ethereal beings were known in folklore for their sensuality and overtly sexual pursuit of men. The term nymphomaniac is perhaps best known to consumers of pornography, where women are often described as "nymphos" or "nymphomaniacs." Satyriasis owes its name to the mythical masculine creatures of Ancient Greece, half man/half goat creatures known as Satyrs.

A recent shift in the meaning of the term "nymphomania" is now being used to describe people who never feel fulfilled after sexual activity no matter how often or intense the experiences are.

The threshold for what constitutes hypersexuality is subject to debate, and critics question if a standardized diagnostic threshold even exists. Sex drive varies widely in humans, and what one person would consider a "normal" sex drive might be considered excessive by some, and low by others. The consensus among those who consider this a disorder is that the threshold is met when the behavior causes distress or impaired social functioning.

Trying to read some of the personalized license plates can be an exercise in futility.  And makes it hard to concentrate on driving!  They use a lot of letter/number combos that are supposed to be cute - like "L8 4 WRK" (and that's an easy one!).

I don't think spelling words like "color" and "favor" means you're lazy.  That's the way we were taught and that's the way it looks right.  I'm not advocating shortening words and spelling things phonetically.  It's just what we are used to, just as British people are used to the other way of spelling.  :P

Title: Re: How many times can a Knowledge sim Woohoo?
Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 March 04, 15:09:06
I'm certainly not saying that the US way of spelling is lazy!  Quite honestly, as long as you spell a word correctly according to how you were taught, and others can understand you, that's all that matters!  But text-messaging has a lot to answer for.......

True.  I hate when people spell thinks like gr8 and U and R.  That's laziness to me, and I have a hard time reading it.  I think that when you are writing anything, a post on the Internet, an email, whatever, it's your responsibility to make yourself understood, not always putting it off on the person reading as if it's up to them to make sense of what you're trying to say.

I'm very happy with the knowlege aspiration change in NL.  I was so bored with knowlege sims--they didn't seem to love their spouses.  It made for a shortened elder stage cause they were unbearable.  The knowlege sims that do that in my game sprung the want before they ever had a relationship.  Heather(Pleasantview Uni)brought a guy home to woohoo in bed(they didn't have a double bed so I paused and bought one and three knowlege sims sprung up the want to woohoo.  Now they are married with children and they still go through the woohoo cycle every day.  Rainelle married Jimmy Pheonix(changed both to wealth)and they had the usual engagement, wedding, wedding party--then have baby wants.  It was usual till the baby turned to a tot and they both sprung up wants for another baby.  Never have seen that before.  They are so completely in love.  I think for a sim to be so devoted to their spouse it needs to be their first relationship.  If they have loved someone else, it waters down the relationship.  It also seems like not all three bolts are equal.  It is better for the personalities to match more than aspiration or turn on and turn offs.  Consort married a romance sim and he rolled wants all about her constantly.  After he woohooed he would roll want to talk to her and then all of the usual wealth wants but I wouldn't fulfil any of them and the panel would be all about her in no time.  I think Maxis has loosened the aspiration restraints a little to make room for the sims personality.  Which is good.
