1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How unsafe is it to change sims' names? on: 2007 March 30, 12:14:22
Right, but then that only changes the first name  Undecided  And....I'm an idiot - I haven't quit and restarted the game since it takes too long so I haven't tried Christinlov's thingie yet, but what I wrote above is nonsense.  The surname I'm interested in changing back from my CAS sim wouldn't still exist in the game because she got married and took the townie surname.  I guess this can't be done then.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How unsafe is it to change sims' names? on: 2007 March 30, 08:47:38
Seelindarun - Yes, thanks I have that - I looked it up after I screwed up Grin

I guess I'm stuck unsing merola's painting (which means I have to wait until the babies become toddlers) because although I have the lot debugger, for the life of me, I cannot find where I can change the names, and I've read the effing manual.  In fact, I have no idea what half the stuff on the debugger does, but I will start with re-reading the thread...

ETA:  Shit, I just tried to change the name of the sim in my first problem using the merola painting (for the first time for this) -- guess I should have read Seelindarun's post more carefully  Tongue--and realised it only changes the first name.  Can I get clarification on whether lot debugger can change surnames?  Or, is thw only way I can do this is by using Christianlov's thingie - which I guess would work for me since the surname I'm interested in using already exists in my game?

Very cool.  I know you don't like to be thanked, but BAAAH!  Now, is there a way to change the names of pets?
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moving From One Lot to Another? on: 2007 March 29, 12:43:25
I guess what's being asked here is when you click on clickable neighbors (and they don't have to be right next to you, they can be as far as you can see) besides getting the option, "so and so live here, would you like to play this lot" you also get "would you like to visit this lot" and bypass having to call for a cab?  The point of this being saving the time and hassle of waiting for the cab, or am I missing something that's much more aggravating than that?  In any case, this would be more convenient and I'd use it if it existed  Smiley

I screwed up in two ways - first I didn't realise how the wedding thing worked until it was too late - for some reason I thought that what mattered was who proposed to whom, not who went to the wedding arch first.  Secondly, I gave a female name to a boy baby by mistake (I was presented with twins and hit enter before my brain caught up with my hand).  The only thing I use in the game that gives me an option to change names is Merola's painting but I'm wondering if it's a VBT to do this or if this hack takes into account memories or whatever else that may be affected by name changes.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LTW's on: 2007 March 26, 21:15:50
Leiela, you can always reroll the LTW with Pes' lot debugger batman thingie.  I personally wish there was an easier way - just click and choose - but it's good enough if you have patience.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: GAH! stop creating wolves! on: 2007 March 26, 12:18:51
Well, I only get 2 wolfy (sort of) strays at all in my game - one named Edward who is gray and one named Hot who is white, both male.  But, they are both scoldable and praisable.  I dled the pet teleporter thingie from MTS2 and no other wolfy looking pets shows up on it.  Does anyone know if they would, or if it is a fact that to tell if they're wolves you shouldn't be able to praise or scold them? (don't mean to doubt you Liz Kiss).  I'm even using DJ's wolf attracting sign and it's been two sim days and still no wolves.

Oh, and the last few lots I've been playing for an accumulated ten sim days have all toddlers on them.

I don't have Seasons and I got it a while ago so it's probably the older version.  It's so frustrating when there are so many vasriables and the game seems so temperamental and so hard to figure out what does what to what when you're so non-awesome. Undecided
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What the hell is this now??? on: 2007 March 24, 17:56:22
Yeah I am using the wooden fridge.  Thanks for the info on the other medieval options.  I will look them up  Wink
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What the hell is this now??? on: 2007 March 24, 16:25:19
You're absolutely right.  I can confirm that.  I removed the table and chairs, replaced them with others, it worked.  I replaced the table with the simsaddict one and it still works, which is ok I guess because it's the table (the colour) which I was more interested in.  So, problem solved there.  As for the fridge - the stove is still acting funny with the fridge placed straight so maybe it's the damn fridge, which is also a simsaddict object.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What the hell is this now??? on: 2007 March 24, 13:17:36
Well, my view is, why have an option if it doesn't work?  I mean, in terms of the diagonals.  The other day I noticed one of my cats being very perturbed because she was trying to get on a counter that I had placed at an angle and of course couldn't.  If fridges and front doors, for example,  don't work properly, why then allow for them to be placed like that?  Oh well.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What the hell is this now??? on: 2007 March 24, 08:27:07
Yup, you guys are brilliant and my brain is in a vicodin induced stupid state and can't even think.  I believe that the two lots the stove thing is happening, the fridges are in a diagonal and that never ocurred to me to be the problem, even though I thought that's what must be going on with my front door.  And, the simplest thing is to get rid of the furniture and test some other, but I thought, oh, simple, non-hacked objects can't affect gameplay like this.

I will check and hopefully this will end the problem.

Yes. If you don't want wolves, move into the middle of downtown surrounded by other inhabitants and commercial areas, with a minimum of foliage on your lot. If you DO want wolves, move into a cabin in the middle of the woods.

So, the only foliage that counts (for attracting wolves) is the kind you can place in your lot from build mode, not the neighborhood decoration foliage?  I just want to be able to see at least one in my lifetime...
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: GAH! stop creating wolves! on: 2007 March 23, 14:50:23
You know, I don't even think I've ever seen one, unless they're very un-wolfy looking.  I know I haven't seen any glowy eyes.  There are two white, long-haired strays that come around at times but very rarely.  I'm wondering when Pescado writes that wolves should not appear in more populated areas and only in areas where there's a lot of trees, does this mean at neighborhood view level?  If I want more wolves to appear, should I add more trees to the lots or more trees between lots in the neighborhood view?
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What the hell is this now??? on: 2007 March 23, 14:24:15
The dining kitchen set is simaddicts99 medieval set, which goes great with this house.  I did replace the stove though trying to see if that would change anything and it's now a maxis recolour one, but it still doesn't behave properly.  I'm off now to replace the table and chairs.  I don't know much about the inner functionings of the game but is it reasonable to think that objects/furniture can have this effect on the animations?  Enough to make the game crash?
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What the hell is this now??? on: 2007 March 23, 13:53:53
This is what I've figured out - if it's just one person sitting and then getting up from this table (where they do these weird animations) the game does not crash.  I had two guests over when I first saw this happening and when they all sat and then got up, it crashed my game.  Also, it's just this table where this happens, not the outside picnic table I have, where I've had six sims simultaneously, sit, eat get up - no problem.

I do have one other thing weird happening and it's that I can't accomplish much cooking by clicking on the stove - the actions cancel out.  I always have to go through the fridge.  But I really don't know what normal behaviour is regarding this since I haven't really paid attention, but I do know that on other lots I can click on the stove, prepare group meal, and it not cancel on its own most of the time anyway.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / What the hell is this now??? on: 2007 March 23, 12:23:40

In this lot, all my sims started doing the above before sitting down, and then this:

upon getting up.

Yes, I guess there is something wrong with this lot, and frankly, it is mostly CC:

I can't remember where I got it from, but I love it and if there is anything I could do to fix it I'd greatly appreciate any help to do so.  Maybe it's to do with the furniture?

The only other issue I've encountered with this lot is that the front door isn't recognised by anyone and I thought maybe it's because it's on a diagonal (but that's just me speculating out of my ass).

I can't think of anything else that goes wrong, but more often than not, game does crash eventually after my sims do that thing with their arms upon getting up from the table.

But I can't, can I since I'm on a mac?
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Don't fear the Reaper? on: 2007 March 22, 22:06:56
I wonder of other people do this type of thing - or names like Bart Simpson's crank calls, you know?  Most of my names are in Spanish though - don't know if there are any other Spanish-speaking people on here who could appreciate them.  I do have my poly threesome family though - one straight male and two bi females, last name Lingus - I know, kinda rude. Wink
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Don't fear the Reaper? on: 2007 March 22, 21:06:44
You should hear the rest of my names - I have a family of romance sims who are the town sluts - Mia Whore, Ura Whore and Ima Whore  Grin  The Whore family are quite popular.

Thanks seelindarun - you answered my question wonderfully.  I just wanted to know if this was normal game behaviour or if there was something else screwy with my game.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Don't fear the Reaper? on: 2007 March 22, 14:44:58
I am impressed with the awesomeness - that IS a brilliant idea.  I'll write-protect the files after I do the reinstall then.  Back to the alien question - What is a simDNA and how do I do that?  Is that done with the lotdebugger thingie?
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Don't fear the Reaper? on: 2007 March 22, 14:04:06
I'd love to understand how this actually happens, and if it's self-contained?  What I mean is, you say I've got corrupted game files -- is the extent of the damage going to be this -- weird looking clothes?  Or is it going to start seeping into other things, causing more problems and eventually blowing up my game?

How about the twin thing?  Is that also due to corrupted game files?
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is Damien punishing me? on: 2007 March 22, 13:59:26
Just wondering if I am going to encounter a problem in some future (and if it's fixable) since I'm running uk and us versions.  My base game, NL and Uni are US and OFB and Pets are UK

This only works for PCs, right?
