51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 2006 Holiday Pack on: 2006 October 25, 16:10:37
I just wish it were possible to hide or remove all of the holiday themed wallpapers and floors.  'Cause there is no way I am going to redecorate a room down to walls and floors for Christmas.  A tree, lights, stockings hung by the chimney with care, all good, but who rewallpapers in holiday themes?
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pet Adoption = Rich Sims Only on: 2006 October 25, 15:37:11
It is also to cover at least some of the cost of caring for the animal at the shelter, as well as to encourage responsible pet ownership.  Our local Humane Society shelter will refund a portion of the adoption fee if you spay/neuter the pet within a set period following the adoption, thereby reducing the future stray population.  As the owner of 2 "pound puppies" all I can say is there is no such thing as a free pet.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Octagonal room tool on: 2006 October 20, 15:42:40
Has anyone tried out the new building tools yet?  Last night I was trying them out and couldn't get the octagonal room tool to work.  As soon as I clicked on a grid point it would pop up an octogon that was 3 tiles across, but I couldn't get it to drag out any larger than that.  I tried on both bare terrain and on a foundation.  Has anyone had luck using this new tool, and if so is there a trick to it?
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question for the awesome ones.... on: 2006 October 20, 15:31:02
    • have seen some reports of problems with Monique's computer and DocDoofus's lot limit mod....I need both of these on almost every lot I have.(  ...psst...Brynne - any problems with the number of sims on your lots?)

I was just over at MTS2 and Monique has posted an update to her computers.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Sim Lifetime Wants shipped with Pets on: 2006 October 20, 14:46:52
Pets is the second Sims 2 product (the first was Glamour) that I've ended up buying at Target because  Best Buy didn't have it the day their advertising said it would be available.  Both times the clerks at Best Buy said they'd have it the next day, but I wasn't going back to Best Buy when I could get it up the street.
    56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Werewolves grrr on: 2006 October 20, 14:42:34
I did see in the Prima guide, that if you also have NL installed the gypsy will also sell the Lycanthropy potion.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Exactly how often do you bathe a dog? on: 2006 October 19, 15:18:55
If you have OFB, you can use the sprinkler to get them clean.

I'll give the sprinkler a try

Also, it does make sense, Sims' World-wise as generally a day = one year. So technically, you're bathing your dog one every two to three years.

By this logic, though, a sim should require a bath at least a dozen times a day, and they don't, even the sloppiest of sims only need a couple of showers a day.
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Exactly how often do you bathe a dog? on: 2006 October 19, 15:01:58
You may consider this to be a hack request.  Sharing my home with 2 dogs, there is one major annoyance I have found in the new EP.  Dogs shouldn't require baths 2-3 times a week.  This is doubly irritating because the standard 2x3 bathroom arrangement doesn't seem to work when trying to bathe a dog, as you need both tiles in front of the tub to be open in order for the dog to jump into the tub from one tile while the human bather stands in the other tile, or the bath drops out of queue.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Someone have the bonus of PETS? on: 2006 October 18, 18:45:24
I just picked up the EP at Target over my lunch hour and the code for the Star Dalmation is:

    TB6IPB1R1FDMRIQT6DG

I checked it against this thread and the Wiki article and didn't see that it had been posted yet. (The Wiki article lists a star coat pattern but it is a different code).  I am still at work so obviously haven't had the chance to install and try it out yet.

I've found the evil kite to be useful a time or two.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Comfort tanked at craft stations - Normal? on: 2006 October 18, 01:14:51
This is precisely why I always have my sims earn their floristry badge first.  If you place snapdragons around the crafting stations, it refills their comfort (and all other needs, other than energy), so they don't have to take as many breaks.  And if they are perma plat, I send them to the energizer when they break from crafting and then send them back.
    62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inducing Amnesia on: 2006 September 29, 14:29:17
That is strange.  I know in my game I can send a sim on an outing, and if they do not have some interaction with each of the members of their group, those members don't show in their relationship panel.  My game functions the same as Dr. Beast's.  The only sims who show in the relationship panel are those who also are represented by a "Met X" memory.
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Automatic daily changing of clothes on: 2006 September 28, 17:34:19
One problem I see is that there is no way to purge the ugly grow up outfits from the family dresser, so you would have those showing up as the randomly chosen outfit of the day.
    64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Grilled cheese? on: 2006 September 28, 16:37:37
And, you must have Nightlife in order to make a Grilled Cheese sim.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there any way to stop the "omigawd my husband's naked!" shock? on: 2006 September 27, 16:19:03
I have noshockforoutgoing, and don't really want to take away the shock for everyone.

I realize that it is impossible to make any game perfect in everyone's eyes, and the shocking thing isn't a huge peeve for me.  But if I were to make a wish list of things I would like to change about TS2, one of the things on that list would be changing the shock animation so that it is more suited to the given situation.  For example, when walking into a gender specific dorm shower room, a sim shouldn't be shocked to see other sims taking a shower, nor should a sim be shocked to see their spouse naked in the shower.  I would expect someone to be shocked to see someone naked in an outdoor hot tub, but not if there is no way they could actually see the hot tub from the other side of the house.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there any way to stop the "omigawd my husband's naked!" shock? on: 2006 September 27, 15:32:47
Jordi, you're right.  However, a romance sim that is working on woohooing 20 different sims, at some point needs to come to the point of saying, "Eh, you've seen one, you've seen em all."

This is one of the animations in the game, that I realize may never be squashed, but I continue to shake my head at.  Another is having a sim look at their spouse and do the, "Call me, we'll hook up", thing.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: In need of a flaming bag of poo... on: 2006 September 27, 15:21:22
Oh yeah.. I also used the work tables to make like a billion or two of those new toy things to see if I could earn some of those badges, but nothing ever happened there either.  I just had a whole truck load of toys to sell from inventory.  *giggle*
    -Kitt

I know this is only one point of your post, but my recommendation for using the crafting stations is to be sure you have the latest version of Macrotastics with the Skillinator.  It will allow your sim to earn badges, and will automatically sell the resulting items from their inventories.  I usually send permaplat sims to a community lot and set them to work with the crafting stations, only stopping to recharge with the energizer aspiration award.  With the awesome recharge aspiration reward hack, also found here, it takes about a week for sims to earn gold badges in all 3 crafting stations.  And I know there are more awesome ones here which might find this a silly way to do this.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there any way to stop the "omigawd my husband's naked!" shock? on: 2006 September 27, 15:03:36
I would personally like to see a mod that goes further.  Once a sim has woohoo'd another sim, they should no longer be shocked to see them naked in any situation.  Especially romance sims, who have no qualms about woohooing the entire neighborhood, but are appalled to see their lovers in the buff.
    69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dangling SWAF deletion tutorial? on: 2006 September 25, 16:14:11
Ah well.  I expected it was too much to hope for.  What I actually do is just ignore the Grand Vampires, so vampirism never spreads in my neighborhoods.
    70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dangling SWAF deletion tutorial? on: 2006 September 25, 15:55:46
Downtownies and SP2 NPCs can be created with the tree after switching it to create downtownies, again allowing for gender, age, and skintone settings. Use the tree also to spawn the Special Townies Slob, Diva, Grand Vampire, as these are often not autogenerated.

This makes me ask.  Is it then possible to create a new neighborhood, with an attached Downtown, without having any Vampires?  'Cause for me that would be a good thing.
71  Ye Olde Simmes 2 Archives: Dead Creators / Ye Olde Syberspunke Archives / Re: No Graduation Memory Spam Fix *EXPERIMENTAL* on: 2006 September 22, 16:21:23
Feel free to ignore this post if it doesn't offer any help new information, but after reading this thread and the one referenced in the OP, I decided to outline the 1 instance I have just had with this issue.

I have a fairly new custom neighborhood that was started with 2 YA's.  They graduated, married, and had twins.  They have moved 5 times.  One was moved into a house, and the other merged.  They lived here until they had acheived perma plat, and a couple of other goals I had for them.  I then moved them into a larger house where they had the twins and raised them.  After sending the twins to college, I didn't play the original couple until the twins had graduated.  I moved them out of their house, built a new one, moved them in, didn't like the house, moved them out.  Built another house, moved them in, merged their daughter back into the household, didn't like the house, moved them all out.  Built another house, moved them all in, finally liked the house.  None of these 3 college graduates has any extra graduation memories.

While the twins were at Uni, I created a brother-sister pair of YA's, and eventually moved them into the Greek house founded by the twins.  They graduated 1 semester after the twins.  I moved the brother into a newly placed Maxis prebuilt lot and he invited to move in his YA fiance.  They haven't moved again.  Neither of them has extra graduation memories.

The male twin had acheived his LTW to earn 100,000 as a teen by running a business.  His business had a profit of around 200,000 by the time he went to Uni, so I bought a bunch of statues, and stuck them into his inventory.  After he graduated, I placed an empty lot, moved him into it, merged his fiance, the sister of the above Sim, sold the statues, saved and exited the lot and moved them back to the Sim Bin.  I then moved them into the Loft lot that came with GLS.  They both graduated Summa Cum Laude and now have additional memories of them each graduating Cum Laude.  The parents and sister of the husband, and the brother of the wife do also have the "Daniel graduated Cum Laude" and "Emily graduated Cum Laude" memories in addition to having the "Daniel graduated Summa Cum Laude" etc. memories.

I was glad to see these threads, to find out why it happened.  I'll fix the memories with SimPE and put in your hack and hope to never see these again.  Let me know if I wasn't clear enough about anything or you have any questions about what I did.
    72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Simply Rejecting Hacks on: 2006 September 21, 22:06:58
EP = Expansion Pack (Uni, NL, OFB)
SP = Stuff Pack (Family Fun, Glamour Life

Your safe to use these abbreviations on any Sims related board, so far as I've seen.
    73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Earn 100K Lifetime Want on: 2006 September 18, 18:41:31
I have moved in a Mr. Big/Diva at least 3 times and each time they have brought 70,900 simoleans exactly, which as stated previously is much more than any other townie, downtownie, or NPC brings to the household.  I just assumed this was a fixed amount.
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB broke food shopping on community lots on: 2006 September 12, 18:53:14
I have noticed the same thing.  I am playing a custom neighborhood.  I packaged and installed into my lot bin quite a few of the downtown and Bluewater Village community lots, and placed these in the downtown subhood of my neighborhood, which is also where I have placed the houses of my playable Sims.  When I order groceries by phone I am able to purchase just what is required to fill the refrigerator, but if I send Sims to one of the grocery stores, I'm presented with a completely empty buy bar.

I removed Inge's permafridge hack when I created this neighborhood, which was well after OFB was installed, so I can only say that when I had Uni, & NL installed, grocery stores worked as expected, and now they don't.
    75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Apparently random LTW reassignment on: 2006 September 07, 14:14:32
I have a fairly new neighborhood with a total of 6 playable Sims. Four of these Sims are at Uni, and all live in a Greek House.  The Greek House was founded by the twin Son and Daughter of my founding couple.  I noticed last night that all four of the YA's have rolled new LTW's.  It's not a problem and they are totally achievable, but I haven't the slightest idea as to how it happened.  I haven't bothered to check the parents back in the base hood, they have each fulfilled 2 or 3 LTW's already, so I don't really care what their current one is.

The last time I looked at the LTW of any of them was right after they started Uni, so I could assign their major to compliment their LTW.  The Greek House founders have just started the 2nd semester of their sophomore year, while the CAS pair I moved in from the dorm haven't yet completed the 1st semester of their freshman year.

I don't have Pescado's Greater LTW Variety hack enabled at this time.

I guess it just boils down to; does anyone know what could cause this mass LTW reassignment?
