326  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: It's begun... on: 2005 November 17, 20:00:34
So even poor sims don't like the xmas tree! LOL! Very funny. They don't think the  pack was worth $15 simoleons!  lol

Yes: I vote for the coal too.

And yes! it is so nice to see a place that first and foremost ALLOWS bashing of Maxis especially when Maxis deserves to be bashed on this one -- and MATY does it with flare! Thanks JM!
327  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I have a really messed up sim! How can I help her? on: 2005 November 13, 17:19:16
I moved a few sims from my hood to Dt without any problem. There was  no car involved and they had very few items.
328  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I have a really messed up sim! How can I help her? on: 2005 November 12, 01:29:26
I know that some of the older versions of SimPE did't have family relations jive well with NL. I think from version .50a is the first one to jive well between NL and the Family RElations plugin....It might have been the version of SimPE that did it...?
329  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: clothing gone bad? on: 2005 November 10, 16:03:37
I don't have the hacked PC, but I Do have the black body from the neck down. I think it's a clothing file., maybe Danny's Girls clothing file, but I'm not sure yet. Still chasing.
330  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Really Weird Goings-On in my New Neighbourhood on: 2005 November 06, 20:25:15
This makes me shudder! How terrible! What has Maxis done to our Simmies? Arg!

I wonder if it has happened to all hoods or only happens to new ones. has anyone looked at their old hoods SimPool?
I'll have to do this.....
331  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Patch breaks neighborhood view options on: 2005 November 05, 17:59:25
Eh, the Patch, another fine product from Maxis.

When I installed the patch, somehow it corrupted all my Uni, Uni only, customized or new from scratch lots (Maxis lots were ok). At first I thought some object was at fault, but they all checked out. I installed, uninstalled, reinstalled, even used back ups etc...about four times with varience of install, patch no patch etc.  here and there. No luck. Finally, i gave up saving the lots, moved the sims to the bin and simply rebuilt.

I suggest you try reinstalling from the start and then try with patch and without and see if you can live without.
332  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: question about the phone hack on: 2005 November 05, 05:05:31
Well, then, Smiley I'm so glad I asked instead of just 'fixing' it. Thanks JM.
333  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / question about the phone hack on: 2005 November 05, 04:56:10
I periodically run all my dl files thru SimPE. Today, SimPE IDed the new pone hack as having a guid that is used within the objects.package. I had several pop up with duplicate GUIDs.

I know I know nothing: Is it supposed to have a dup GUID? Is any custom file supposed to have duplicate GUID(s?) with those in the object pacakge? Is a file made using the 'repository' technique (like the biazarro-architecture-bedroom-door.packagedisabled, for instance) supposed to use a duplicate GUID?

Another phone hack question, posted by Brynne, http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=619.0, went unansered---is there an answer to it and what is it if there is?

Thanks.

CrammyBoy! yay! Did you bring your penis?
335  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Welcome, TwoJeffs! on: 2005 November 04, 02:09:51
Welcome TwoJeffs!

Did you pick up any cheese yet?

This site is the best going! All Pescados fault Smiley Long live MATY!
336  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 October 01, 13:45:31
Well, that's true. And evidently the fact that the driveway is in the community lot catalogue doesn't mean a thing. it's a mistake.

But a parking lot would be nice. Why didn't Maxis make it where other sims that own cars drive to DT? Oh well.
337  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 October 01, 00:13:19
Has anyone been able to place a driveway on a community lot? So far alll I've read says nope. I know I can't....

I hate this. Why in the world did Maxis make driveways accessible in a community lot--but not placeable?? What about parking lots?? Grrr.
338  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bump Mapping works with my Gforce 6800GT & Nightlife. on: 2005 September 29, 02:33:13
I'm curious: how is the roof detail in hood view? Are there gaps between walls and roof? Do you have shingles?
339  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Mrs. Crumplebottom Vampire. Her true calling? on: 2005 September 25, 17:24:27
WHy do we even need the old folders? Seems like they are dead and gone and are just taking up space. What would happen if we deleted them?
340  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 23, 16:24:46
All my settings are on high. Once in awhile cards will show up. Often, they 'play' without cards. But that 'won't cancel card playing' is the most annoying. I lost a few hours play because the sim would not get up and I had to 'end task' to get out.
341  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 23, 00:39:24
I had something weird happen: my view distance option, after what fifty saves and restarts and it didn't save, finally saved! Out of the blue, it decided to save.

Another thing I've been looking for--is anyone having issues with sims playing poker and there are no cards?? Chips rol, bets are made, no carsd in sight. Also, last time I played, I had a sim in bladder failure, ready to pee at any moment and I could not cancel his playing. I finally had to task manager out. ?
342  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 20, 23:47:24
Corporate BS at it's best.

I agree --that sucks. Which makes MaxiodToms efforts even more remarkable--he has often come online in the wee hours of the morning. His efforts may be an attempt to placate his horrible bosses, it may be that he worries about the financial plight of his family and it may be that he just wants us to be happy and shut the f#&^$& up and stop complainting about every little glitch (last option is my bet.)

I couldn't stand Sims2--the core game. And I screamed really loud about it too. Smiley It was simply unplayable until Pescado happened along and thank all Gods for him (I love Pescado, very funny smart guy.) Uni fixed that tho. I do feel that I paid for half a game with S2 and got the other half when I bought Uni. However, Uni has been fun for me. And NL is great fun so far.

My biggest complaint with the Sims 1 and 2 is : I hate when they take something away--they can add as much as they want but don't take stuff away, change stuff.

I don't have a lot of the bugs other people have. Sometimes I feel almost cheated cuz I don't! Sometimes I wonder what the hell is wrong with my game that I don't have the bugs! (How sick is that??) And it may be that driving wonderment that makes me follow along behind him.

IMO, Corporations in general, not just in software, need to accept that people are HUMAN. Crporations obviously need to be forced into stopping the greed machine. Whatever it takes. I also think that EA needs to back off and give the Maxiods TIME.

I guess the moral to my tirade is:  I know he's online almost every night--sometimes twice a night. And it seems to me that whatver reason is driving him--he oughta get at least some appreciation for it.  So here I am trying to give what I can.
I know I really appreciate his efforts (and if I didn't, I'd hollar real loud about that too Smiley.) I know he's answered lots of questions people have had thereby making their game enjoyable again.

We probably need to get back on topic, what's been fixed, or Pescado will be tearing off our lips....
343  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 20, 22:07:08
Just to get it established as a real fact: As a certified Maxiod Stalker (I follow him around and read all his posts everywhere) I know for a fact the Maxiod is online during all hours of the day and night, so he's not spending just his 'work hours' here. THAT"S dedication....and a bit crazy -- but really good for us Smiley

Case of the disappearing/appearing lot.

As I moved in a circle around it--it blinked on and off. Kinda fun. .Avi file available.

In an attempt to help the poor Maxiod from typing his little fingers to the bony...

He says: "I post on MTS2, Sims2Community, and MATY.  I visit Snooty, Insimenator, TSR, SimLogical, and the BBS.

I'm thinking maybe I should start a FAQ myself... =)";

So please--search these sites for your topic before you post.

I'm pretty sure he will appreciate any effort made to cut the duplicate posting. (and maybe fi his fingers and eyeshold up, he'll keep spilling his gutts Smiley

And so far the link list is:

346  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 17, 02:03:05
That's what I'm thinking--the changes aren''t staying cuz they are being overwritten.

347  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 17, 01:22:32
Hey Maxiod:

Yesterday, I modified my hood camera file (basically made the modified extended range txt) today that is gone. So I went and looked at the creation and modified dates. Looks like everything in the config file and camera files (maybe others?) is being rewritten each start. You probably already know this...

EDIT: I tried to reporduce a rewrite--it didn't replace the file this time.

?
348  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs: Problems I'm having on: 2005 September 17, 00:27:31
2.) You could probably tweak the Graphics Rules.sgr file in Program Files and try to make your machine look like a higher spec machine so that you have cinematics again.  We needed to bump up the specs so that we could pass the baseline FPS test with the neighboring lots visible.

So, not really a bug, but I'm quite interested... would anybody here have the details on this? Specifically:

1) How do I tweak the file? (it's complex and I wouldn't want to mess it up too badly, but maybe someone here has already done it and can tell me...)
2) Is it enough to modify the file under Program Files, or should I copy it into some folder under Documents?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know if Pescado has anything on this, but MTS2 does. Try starting with a search on graphics Rules.sgr
349  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 16, 23:59:37
I haven't seen this issue addressed anyplace: I don't find a way to delete a DT inside the game. There was a way to delete a UNi inside but that seems to be gone too. ?? The delete option for the main hood is there.

Of course, it's possible to delete these manually--but I could have sworn there was an in-game delete option. Am I crazy?

EDIT: I was NOT in the DT or Uni I was trying to delete.
350  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 16, 22:10:08
My cars are in their drives where I left them.

Haven't found any problem with sound yet--nothing fancy in the way of a sound card--It's a three yo SoundLive2k or something like that.
