I think the gypsy bringing free lamps is kind of a neat glitch. I think I'll probably take advantage of it before it's fixed.
352  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 08, 13:41:14
I'm pretty sure they mean the times when the garden plants (tomatoes, etc.) get overgrown and you have to 'tend' them so the sims then get down and start plucking up the weeds growing at the base of the plants. They're not on a separate tile like the weeds from puddles, etc. but an actual part of the plant growing on the same tile as the plant. Does that make sense?
353  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 01, 19:59:47
Yes, music Sims hum, whistle, and drum on their legs.

I find this very annoying, I hate whistling.

I didn't even notice my sim was whistling until my mom walked into the room and asked who was whistling. She absolutely hates whistling and changes the channel if a commercial comes on that has whistling in it. Sometimes I whistle just to annoy her. lol
354  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 01, 03:25:35
I found some more bugs. The first thing I noticed is when I have a sim ride the new exercise bike, after just 5 seconds on the bike, their temperature goes up in the red. I had the sim cool down in the pool, then try the weight bench from the base game and I had him exercise for like 2 (sim time) hours and he was still in green. Later on, I had him go for a jog and when he came back, his temp was all the way red (this happened in the Fall) and upon returning, he passed out on the sidewalk and it said he had heatstroke. So I had him swim in the pool and after like 20 minutes (real time) he was back in the green. Well, while he was in the pool, I tried having him float on his back. He then teleported out of the pool and was standing near the diving board, with nothing in his queue. I thought it was strange, so I had him get in the pool again and float on his back, same thing. I tried it with his wife and it happened to her too.

The other thing I found is sims are doing things on their own with free will turned off. Normally, when free will is off, my sims will just stand there until I tell them to do something with only a few exceptions (pregnant sims throwing up, watching a birthday) but now they go and do hobby things on their own. I had this happen to more than one sim. They'd decide on their own to go play soccer or basketball. Those are the only things I've seen that happen with so far, but I didn't play real long this time since my son has the flu, so I can only play when he's sleeping.

The phone in the game is driving me nuts, though. It will ring and I'll have my sim answer it just so I don't have to listen to it ring, and as soon as they hang up, it rings again. And each time it's a different sim calling. It's really annoying. I hope that gets fixed. But the heating problem is really bad since now I don't want my sims to have fitness hobbies since it's too dangerous. I know there are hacks out there to fix the heating problems, but I don't know if they work for FT or if they'd even fix the overheating problems with the new things like jogging and riding the exercise bike.

Another bork: For some reason my sims keep popping out of their chair when using a computer (any kind, sending/checking the computer). Sometimes they'll be doing a certain action (also, any kind, from talking to cleaning the bathroom) and they jump out of said action. I don't have any hacks or CC (only updated MATY stuff). I'm using the no-cd crack. Also, last night I spent my time building a beautiful house for a new family and when I went to save it, the application crashed on me. I wasn't happy at all and now I'll have to rebuild for them again. I looked and saw people referencing the jump bug, but I didn't see one for this stuff. Sorry if I missed it.

I have the same problem. They'll be doing something, then they'll jump out of it, their plumbbob disappears for a second and reappears. It happens a lot, but not all the time. I don't have any hacks at the moment (they're sitting in a folder on my desktop) the only difference for me is I'm not using a no-cd crack. I haven't had any crashes yet, though, but I've seen several people who have reported crashes.
356  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 February 29, 14:00:28
And is it just me or sims suddenly started looking through the window much more often Roll Eyes?

I noticed that too.

I also noticed that the violin's sound is really quiet and they won't play for very long even if it is their natural hobby.
357  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 February 28, 20:04:26
I removed all my hacks before playing, so none of the problems I've had are because of hacks. I even removed the CS objects and the CoreFunctions just in case. The problem with "make many" only making one doesn't always happen. It seems to be pretty random. But it's not stopping because of money because they have over $300,000 in the bank.

I also haven't seen any birds, so my guess is that those screenshots that showed the birds were just staged.

And with the badge earning thing, it was Fall when I was working towards the badges, so I'd say there's definately something wrong there.

I'd say the constant phone ringing and people coming by and ringing the doorbell constantly at all hours of the day has to be a bug. Normally, no one comes by or calls once it's nighttime.

Another thing I've noticed is that the wolves seem to be showing up a lot more often than normal. And they keep digging up the yard, but if I have a sim try to chase them off, the dog doesn't leave like normal. They just stay there as if my sim never did anything.
358  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My Secret Science Club is Don Lotharios House on: 2008 February 28, 09:13:56
Wow, that's really screwed up. I've only been to the Tinkering, Arts & Crafts and Music & Dance lots, but those were fine.
359  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 February 28, 09:11:13
It's funny because the other day, when a few people got the game (like in Australia) everyone was saying how great the game was and how they hadn't found any hacks. I only played for a few hours and I found plenty of bugs.

The first thing I found is when you tell a sim to "make many" of something on the sewing machine or pottery wheel, about 95% of the time, they'll only make one. The other problem I noticed with the sewing machine is after the sim was done sewing something, they'd jump out of the seat and if I tried to have them sew something else, they'd complain and have a chair in their thought bubble, so I guess they couldn't sit in it? If I sold the chair and bought a new one, it would fix it, but it's rather annoying. I also noticed the new badges take ridiculously long to earn. Like I had one sim work in the garden while another one was sewing, and the gardening sim got his silver badge before the one sewing even got a bronze badge. And I had another sim on the potting wheel for 3 sim days straight with no badge. (I used MaxMotives)

I've had tons of queue dropping and every time it happens, my sim will jump and their plumbbob will disappear for a second. It's really annoying since I have to tell them to do things one thing at a time, and lots of times I have to tell them to do things like 5 times before they'll do it for longer than a second.

I've also seen lots of graphical glitches. Like in fall, there will be floating leaves like the ones that normally fall, only they just stay in the same spot in mid-air. Another one I got was when my sim with the nature hobby was bug collecting, tons of bees surrounded him. I guess it's supposed to happen. They stayed for like 10 minutes (real time) but the problem is, they didn't fully disappear. There were these almost invisible but not fully. They followed him everywhere and even stayed while he was in the shower. I took pics of the ghost-like bees:

http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/6006/bees01jj7.jpg
http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/3606/bees02wi9.jpg

I'm also getting the bug where when a sim comes home from work, they lose around $30,000, instead of getting paid the amount they're supposed to.

Besides those, there were just some annoyances like the phone ringing almost constantly (day & night) with random people calling my sims and people at the door all hours as well. There are tons of pop-ups saying that their enthusiasm was going up or down (they appear a lot, like every 5-10 minutes).

I removed all my hacks, so they're not the problem. There are also some previous bugs returning like the bedside problem that happened in BV, but was fixed in the second patch, well, it's now broken again. Both sims will still try to sleep or relax on the left side, even if you tell them to go to the right side. The Primp interaction is still gone. There's probably more, but it's like 3AM and I'm tired. I'll play more tomorrow and report if I find anything else that's screwed up.

Is there any way to get the jungle swing for the real TS2? I'm kind of bored with the base game swing and the Seasons pre-order gift swing, so I'd like the tree swing in my game as something different.
361  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: CS masks and clothes [FIXED : Castaway casual four / Native career ] on: 2008 February 19, 23:30:14
I have Firefox and Adblock Plus and I didn't have any problems with porn ads. All I downloaded were the Native Career outfits, though.
362  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: CS masks and clothes [FIXED : Castaway casual four / Native career ] on: 2008 February 19, 12:14:36
The walls and floors were posted in the Salvaged Stories Crap thread. I have no clue which page they were on, but they're there. I haven't seen the careers yet and I'm not even sure those would be possible since in CS the sims walk to work instead of taking a carpool and there aren't specific hours since there's no time in the game.
363  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: CS masks and clothes [UPDATED : Native career added] on: 2008 February 17, 19:41:08
The native clothes weren't up when I posted that. Just the face tattoos and the first set of clothes.
364  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: CS masks and clothes on: 2008 February 17, 13:01:54
Are these clothes the native/tribal clothes or the castaways torn clothes?

Converting a system from nVidia graphics to ATI or the reverse can be tricky business that has been known to result in issues if not done very carefully.

I actually switched my video card out a few years ago. I think three years ago, I'm not positive, but it was back when the x1900 was the brand new, top of the line card. Back then, I had a pre-built Sony Vaio PC, but since then, I've switched out the case, motherboard and processor, hard drive and DVD burner (because it stopped burning right after installing BV. Coincidence?).

Also, heat buildup in one or more hardware components could be causing failure, as well as simple fatigue of age and wear could be usual portents of imminent or eventual hardware failure.

I don't think I have any issues with overheating or anything since I have a custom case with three fans (rear, side and front) as well as a heatsink/fan combo over my processor. And I regularly open up my PC and use that canned air to clean out all the dust that collects inside there, especially around my fans and vents. I can feel cold air coming out of all the vents in my case, so I doubt it's overheating.

Seriously, I hope TS3 works with dual cores because I bought mine hoping TS2 would run better on it and also hoping that I wouldn't have to do a major upgrade before TS3 comes out. But I guess if I need to upgrade when the time comes, I will. The only thing I refuse to upgrade to is Vista. I won't touch it until it's more stable and more of the bugs have been worked out.
366  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Are these BV bugs, or is it just me? on: 2008 February 11, 02:42:23
I just got a PM from someone at TSR that said the reason I'm getting lag in the beach lots is because I have a dual core processor. Apparently, the way the game's programmed, it only reads off of one core unless you change something. I saw someone else mention this one other time, so there might be some truth to it, but I haven't seen yet how to do this. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this and if so, how I could do this?
367  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Are these BV bugs, or is it just me? on: 2008 February 08, 14:06:42
I used to have a GeForce 6600 GT before I got my Radeon x1900 card. Back when I had my NVidia card, I was getting those blue screen of death crashes after an hour or less of play and this was back before other people were having the problems with this and well before it was known it was because of a driver conflict. I used to be really loyal to NVidia but I was really glad once I switched to a Radeon card because it stopped the bsod crashes.

I don't get though why I would have lag when I have a dual core processor. It seems like it would be overkill for TS2, but if I check ctrl alt del when running my game, it shows like 50% usage sometimes. Does that mean it's using one whole core by itself? And, no, I don't have any other programs running when I play the game since I know it's a CPU hog. It seems like it should be using less of a percentage of my total CPU than it was back when I had a Pentium IV 3.00 processor.
368  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Salvaged Stories Crap on: 2008 February 07, 22:54:58
Thanks, Kabuto. Are you doing the rest of the native clothes too? Like the male and all the other ages as well as the other categories?
369  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Did the patch really kill my BV, or was it something I did? on: 2008 February 07, 20:42:16
Haha, I expected something like that. I can't afford a real graphics card at the moment, so it's out of the question. Either way, I don't think a shiny graphics card will help fix my BV installation/uninstallation issues. I'm not sure anything can un-implode my BV. xD

Video cards aren't that expensive. The card I currently have was like $600 when I first got it, but now it costs under $200 and it's still considered to be a good card. More RAM would probably help since BV requires at least 1 GB to run and that's without any other EPs installed. Of course, your processor needs help as well, but those are kind of pricey. I think I spent around $600 last summer to buy my new ASUS motherboard/AMD dual core processor combo. Getting all three of those things would help a lot, but at least if nothing else, you do need a video card and some more RAM.
370  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Are these BV bugs, or is it just me? on: 2008 February 07, 20:32:08
Well, I saw on another forum that the 2nd patch was finally announced (it's not out yet, but there's a post by a Maxoid that tells which bugs will be fixed) so I went over there to check out if the bugs I've been having since BV were on there. Since they're not, I'm starting to wonder if they're really bugs or am I just the only one having these problems.

My first problem is the biggest since it's stopped me from sending sims on vacation at all. Basically, what happens is this: I have a family and send them on vacation. Once the vacation timer says it's time to go home, I'll have the family check out of the hotel and click on the phone to have the shuttle take them home. They get home with no problem, but then a few seconds later, the shuttle shows up again and the family gets back in the shuttle and they're taken back to their hotel. Once the hotel lot loads, it's in build mode, live mode is grayed out and my family isn't there. If I leave and load the family's home lot, the same thing happens. The shuttle takes them to the hotel again in build mode. I've tried canceling out the "go somewhere" thing from all my sims and I've even tried deleting the shuttle, but it still loads the hotel lot. This happens after about 25% of all my vacations. If it's not a bug, then what is it?

My second problem has to do with beach lots. When I play a family that lives on a beach lot, after about 10-20 minutes, the game starts lagging and I get these freezes that last a minute or longer and the sound of the waves gets all choppy like a skipping CD. If I exit the game, restart my computer, then restart the game, it's fine for another 20 minutes or so then it starts happening again. I never had any problems with lag or choppy sound (it happens with music too, so I disabled all music) until I installed BV, so I don't think it's my computer. And my brother thinks its bad programming on EAxis's part. Is he right?

Here are my computer specs:
Windows XP Home
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
ATI Radeon x1900 512mb
2 GB RAM
371  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Salvaged Stories Crap on: 2008 February 04, 20:04:31
Any chance of or does anyone know if the clothes from CS could be pillaged?

I'll convert the castaway/native clothes, the masks (Face painting) and the (hair-)hats !

Yay! I've been wanting those clothes for my game. Now I can make a real island in my game.
372  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Cyclic Redundancy Check Error? on: 2007 November 21, 07:03:21
I did defrag, and unfortunately, that seemed to make the problem worse. Now I can't open any of my programs except for Firefox, and my computer keeps freezing if I try to do anything with any files. My brother had a hard drive fail on him before and the same thing happened to him, so I'm going to try and see if Western Digital will honor my warranty on my hard drive. I've had trouble with them before, but hopefully since I've only had this hard drive since July 15th, they'll let me send it back for a new one.
373  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Cyclic Redundancy Check Error? on: 2007 November 20, 21:15:41
Well, I ran chkdsk and while it did find several problems, I'm still having troubles with moving files. So apparently it is a problem with my hard drive. Cry I just bought the hard drive in July, so I'm going to see if I can get a replacement. In the meantime, I do have a second hard drive I can install Windows on, so my brother's going to switch them around. At least I can use Knoppix to save my files from my hard drive so I won't lose everything.
374  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Cyclic Redundancy Check Error? on: 2007 November 20, 16:33:10
I'm having a problem with my downloads in my game. It started today when I started up Clean Installer to scan my downloads folder to sort my files since I'm going to get rid of some of my older things. About 5 seconds into the scanning, I got a pop-up that said Data Error Cyclic Redundancy Check with a bunch of stuff that I don't understand written below it. And if I try to copy my downloads folder to another location, I get either a CRC error or an error about cannot read from source. My brother thought it might be because I needed to defrag, even though Windows was just installed about 2 weeks ago, so I did that, but it didn't work. I also can't run Bodyshop. I'm hoping it's not a Windows problem because Windows ended up getting corrupted and I had to reformat and reinstall it just 2 weeks ago, and my brother thinks it might be a problem with my hard drive, which I'm also hoping isn't the problem. Anyone have any ideas of what I could try or any way to figure out what the problem is for sure? I really don't want to delete my downloads folder. Here are my computer specs:

Windows XP Home
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
2 GB RAM
ATI Radeon x1900 512mb

375  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV patch is out on: 2007 October 11, 01:49:42
If I uninstall/reinstall my game, won't it automatically reinstall the patch anyway? Because after each EP and SP is installed, it does the whole "checking to make sure your game is up to date" thing. Isn't that installing the patches?
