Apart from the face "template" a random male sim (when you create a new sim) always wears a strange Yeti-like beard now. I don't think that beard even exists in the beard section.

...sometimes, my sims dig up 20 stones in a row, sometimes I get at least one map for every secret location in less than two ingame hours. All in my backyard, of course, which makes me wonder who'd lived there before (not to mention all the bones buried there) Grin.
My theory is that the neighborhood is built on the ruins of The Sims 1.

Is the Hula viral? Can one learn it from an existing sim who has?

I am not sure about your theory. I still have a living Sims 1 civilization on my other computer (I haven't checked how they are doing for a very long time though).

Yes, the Hula works like the other dance and Tai Chi. Once a sim is doing it, others can join and learn it.

103  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti-Redundancy *CRITICAL FOR BVp0* on: 2007 September 18, 18:49:49
When SimEnhancer was updated and I had the chance to look at the new sims, I had about 40 (!!!) tour guides and unsavory charlatans. I thought this was a bit over the top.
Just looked at them again and noticed that there were about 8 new tour guides and one unsavory charlatan. It almost looks like every time a sim visits a hotel or community lot, a new tour guide is created. So how many tour guides would you get if you play for a year or so?

I risked my game exploding and deleted the new ones and a few others.

Anyway, it's time to install this hack, because it is in fact critical for the new expansion.
104  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti Vacation Actions: Death to all Nesses on: 2007 September 17, 20:10:57
I did have one sim I couldn't direct to join a slap dance, even though one of the locals was doing it along with about 5 other sims. I don't know if there's any other reason a sim might not join.

I think the ability to join depends on available space. Yesterday, my sim wasn't able to join a tai chi group on a terrace, until one of the group quit and went inside the house and thus made room for her.

Does this hack influence local gestures towards tourists, too?

With Anti Vacation Actions installed, I have a sim not being greeted by any local ever, not even by those she is already friends with. She had to learn the bow from the Wise Old Man, on the very last day of her 7 days vacation. Same happens on Twikkii Island - no local would greet her with the hang loose gesture, though she is friends with some of them already, too. Witch Doctor learning is not an option, because of his sleeping sickness.

I had two or three families on a holiday since installing this and they learned the local gestures very quick, so I think it is simply coincidence or at least not related to the hack. Since I am sending my sims on a holiday all the time at the moment, I got the impression that the events always work differently. The first sim digged and digged and would not find a map (he found a very expensive object though), since then I had other families which found maps immediately, sometimes all three of them, digging only once.
I had three island vacations which made me doubt that I would ever see a hula dance. I put a jukebox on a lot, but now they are hula dancing in other places (with only a speaker) too. Nobody would do Tai Chi in Asia, then suddenly, another family on holiday, you see Tai Chi everywhere.
Some of this might be related to the fact that I stopped their obsession for water balloon fights, but I noticed it before. I believed that some occurences - like finding a map - would always have the same likelihood, but now I think that it is completely random.

Great table, but I think for the last option (everyone can do everything), when you use ACR, the teen/adult attraction fix would be advisable too?

Anyway, I had my first teen woohoo want yesterday, while my sims were on a date. Both Melody Tinker and her townie boyfriend rolled it. Their timers are at the bottom too and since I changed their turn-ons they have gone up to three bolts. So the only problem left was that Melody is too shy and serious to initiate the interaction (and there are two toddlers at home, which always seem to block it to some extent), but she was on her own there. I've given them autonomy, now they have to deal with it.

Since you put the check tree into the teenenabledadultwants, I installed that too and although the families I played so far are not very good for testing it, it appears to be working to control the go steady wants.

I guess I could use the updated adultsgosteady hack instead, because adults and teens are unlikely to roll wants for each other without a complementary hack that attracts them to each other. But who knows, my sims have surprised me before. I see what happens.

Wow.  That's... interesting.  I'll have to take a look at the hack.  I'm assuming you have both hacks in (The one that overwrites the WantTree.package and the teenenabledadultwants.package that goes in your Downloads directory).

Do you have Celebration! Stuff or H&M@ Fashion Stuff?

Ste

What teenenabledadultwants.package???
When I downloaded the Seasons version at MTS I believed that I would include all necessary files and that the separate hacks (listed at the top) were only for those who did not want the teen/adult wants. The read me also mentions only the WantTrees.package, which does not go in the downloads folder.
I will try the new hack later, because the "going steady" wants are really over the top, everyone wants to go steady with everyone else, there is no check for engagement or marriage (they want to got steady with their spouses or other sims they are not married to). The other wants that are appearing in a big way (for teens and adults alike) are the pet related ones (want a puppy/kitten/pet), but this could be an effect of the latest seasons patch, which seemed to have brought them back.

I do not have celebration/H&M or any other of those mini-packs. I stick to the real expansions.

P.S.: I also do not use woohoo teens, only ACR and do not have teenage/adult relationships or other hacks related to it.

P.P.S: The ability to read is really an advantage. I intentionally did not download the teen enabled adult wants hack, because I did not need it (see above). Maybe I should try it with both files, however.

I got the seasons version of this and so far none of my teens have rolled up a woohoo want (which I had expected for some of them), but all my adults are rolling wants to go steady with their adult friends, even when they are already engaged. One of them has the wish to go steady with three different sims.
I have to play a bit more to see what is happening with my teenagers.
109  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Restaurant Problems on: 2007 May 23, 06:53:05

- Sims are on a date and get seated outside (rain pouring down on them). They order (one sim is near starving to death), the waiter arrives, serves, food disappears at an instant and so does the plate symbol in the queue. Of course the "Oh, it's raining" action popped up at one point, but I had already cancelled it. Place: The Crypt

I've experienced many of the same frustrations as you.  Only one I can help with is the one above.  On the tables on the back patio of the Crypt O'Night, you have to take the centerpieces off the tables (I believe they were candles - don't remember, as I removed them long ago) in order for the food not to disappear.  I don't know why that is.  But if you remove the centerpieces, the problem is solved.

I wondered if it was due to the candles (yes - candles) on the table. I removed all the tables in the back patio, because I don't want my sims to dine there anyway.

I had the chance to try out the coffee bars last night and they work much better with the fix. I didn't get the opportunity to try a restaurant, because as an unwanted side effect of not drinking coffee anymore, sims were getting in the whirlpool more (Lulu Lounge). There was a thunderstorm and my (currently not playable) sims were hit by lightning and hit by lightning again when they got out of the whirlpool. One of them died, one was saved by a friend and the other one I quickly made selectable and had her get inside as quickly as possible after being hit the first time. Big drama.
110  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Restaurant Problems on: 2007 May 22, 19:26:06
Getting really annoyed after sending two of my sims on a date the other day, I searched and found the restaurant fix, which covers the main problems I have with restaurants and coffee bars, mainly the endless loop of NPC sims who won't stop ordering food or coffee. But there are a few other issues (which have mentioned in various other threads) and I am not sure if they are covered by this fix (I have all main expansions, no mini packs, seasons patch installed):

Buying coffee for a sim (and don't they always want that) is impossible. As soon as a playable sim attempts to do that, an NPC gets in a way and the action drops out of queue for the ordering sim. I guess this will be fixed because there will be less sims running for the coffee bar?

While they think that there is nothing better than coffee when they are on a non-owned community lot, sims will never ever buy coffee on a community lot that is owned by another sim, even if there is a bartender (I'm talking about situations when you play the owner of the lot). I believe that there is a separate fix for that? I would like some of the clubs (with ticket machines) to offer coffee but it is pointless at the moment.

The prices for food are still varying. Since the messages of unknown sims "I have to take off now..." still pop up, I sometimes have the impression that you are paying for their food as well. It is not a big issue, I just don't like it.

The whole placing/serving routines in a restaurants appear a total mess since OFB.

- Sim is on a date and waits to be greeted. Action drops out of queue, but the sim is seated anyway (but without being placed), because you have the option to "drop the seat". If they sit down they can order, but there is no guarantee that they will be joined by their date.

- Sims continue their date as an outing. They get seated, the inviting sim looks at the menu, the invited one picks up a plate from another table and heads of to eat it somewhere else. Place: 60's Diner

- Sims are on a date. The inviting sim doesn't get any food at all, the invited sim doesn't get what she ordered, but gets served a different plate twice. Place: The Hub.

In places where there is a bar and a restaurant (like the Hub and unfortunately in my case also the P.U.R.E) sims generally prefer to get seated at the counter, which means that the playable sims have to wait endlessly to get seated, because the maitre d' is constantly running (no sorry, is slouching) up and down. I absolutely hate that. I want the bars to be bars, I don't want sims blocking the seats and I don't want this time consuming restaurant routine. I also used to get the loop where sims would be greeted over and over again, although there were still table seats available (and the active sims would get the message that there are no seats available), but this might have been fixed with the seasons patch.
This happened in the Crypt, where I had replaced the tables and chairs. My sims could sit on some of the (custom) chairs without ordering first, so apparently some of these chairs and tables didn't count as part of the restaurant, which was strange because they were the same as the others that worked. It looked like this was still a problem there, when my sims visited the place recently.

Lastly, will the restaurant fix only cover the bladder problem, because sims don't drink so much coffee anymore or will it solve the nuisance that they start with a half empty bladder? I only found out about that a few days ago, but I had some dates end very abruptely ("Thanks I had a really good time and by the way, you don't seem to care about my needs at all"). I usually use InSimenator to put up the hygiene and bladder motives now, but I would like to know if it still necessary. My active sim was never affected, so it is hard to check.

Are you sure you don't have the time control clock?

Not unless I accidently downloaded it in a lot.  But even if that's the case, why wouldn't this time issue start before I loaded Seasons?  I haven't downloaded anything, placed or entered any new downloaded lots since adding the EP.  I went into two lots that were part of the new neighborhood that comes with Seasons, and into the lot I had been playing before.  And THAT house was one I had created from scratch.

I haven't installed seasons yet (I'm about to do it), but if this was true it would be great.
112  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question for restarting on: 2007 February 11, 23:07:18
I keep wondering why none of the various modders/hackers have ever come up with a program that has a similar function to SimEnhancer when it comes to replacing townies. I really missed this program when it wasn't updated for such a long time.
I do like the townies in my game, I just don't like that some of them are such monstrosities. I usually try to keep the general style of any townie I want to replace, then I create  replacements in body shop and turn them into a family, which I keep in the family bin. Afterwards I clone whatever feature I want (usually, just the looks and the DNA) onto the existing townie with SimEnhancer and delete the family from the bin.
They keep all their relationships, their aspiration points, their job. They are just like before (unless I don't want that), only that they look much better than before and there will be no surprise when they have offspring.
113  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can a pet live forever? on: 2007 February 11, 22:47:23
Thanks, that's a relief.  I had read that the kibble of life could only be used one time.

I play my sims almost in "real time."  As in, I've had the game for two years, so the sims have been alive two years.  Having a pet die after a month of play doesn't make sense with that mindset.

I play very similar, my sims are aging very very slowly. One good idea of Pets was that they age at a different time (between 10 - 12 a.m., I haven't completely worked it out, because I always forget to check at the right time), so it means you can turn aging off in the morning and turn it on again afterwards if you want your "human" sims to age.
114  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis/EA update re nVidia & Pets incompatibility on: 2007 February 05, 11:11:23
The blue screen/crashing problem disappears when using an older NVidia driver. I am using version 7.7.7.2 (June 2005) after my system kept crashing after the installation of an updated driver. There was a discussion about it in a German forum some time ago and apart from a few people who were unable to install the older driver it worked for everyone who had this problem. 7.7.7.2  is the last one that worked as far as I know.
115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Heleane's skins? on: 2007 February 05, 11:02:19
I think she used to have some skins on her site once, which were removed and never uploaded anywhere else. If someone really wants them and is bothered enough to ask her for permission I could send them by e-mail. I have them all.
