That sounds complicated. I eat them simply by cramming them whole into my mouth, swallowing them hole, and then horking out the skin-remains like a hairball.

When I was little I loved to watch this one Discovery Channel special on egg eating snakes.  That's what I'm picturing now.
77  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Rummaging in front of the neighbors -- why don't they care? on: 2009 July 02, 01:16:46
In Ottawa, I have noticed that people who have good stuff out with their trash tend to set it out separately from the trashcan so people can see it.
Yes, the free furniture bazaar. In the 'burbs, this is commonly a yearly event in spring right after the first round of garage sales. In the city, this happens year round as people switch apartments.

I just moved into my own apartment, and got an awesome pink 50's child's toy refrigerator to use as an endtable by grabbing it off the street.  But then again, it did have a "Free" sign on it.

Actually, uh, I'm mocking the idea that vegetarianism is healthier nutrition.

I figured from the wording.  I was agreeing with you.
79  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Does the Vegetarian Trait affect anything besides food choices? on: 2009 July 02, 00:38:18
Actually, it makes sense vegetarianism could make people live longer, if only for the fact that malnourishment in general seems to extend lifespan.  We know that underfeeding can increase the lifespan of almost all species, all the way down to single-cell yeast.  And just decreasing the availability of essential amino acids like L-tryptophan from the diet of rats can double their lifespan.

...but do you really think EA sat in a room and said, "So I'm thinking that due to the amino acids sims with the vegetarian trait should live longer.  And ghosts!  Wooooo!"

If you peel a kiwi, you get rid of all of the fiber of the thing.  That's why nutritionists say to not peel it.  Personally, the texture of the skin bugs the hell out of me, so I do anyways.

Why the hating on nectarines?  I'm addicted to them right now.  So delicious.  The only sucky part is getting them off the pit.  But I guess, thinking about it, it is a very fleshy fruit.
81  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Does the Vegetarian Trait affect anything besides food choices? on: 2009 July 01, 19:36:50
Well, dying from anemia and malnourishment isn't in the game. Sims have either eaten or not eaten, and it doesn't appear to matter whether they ate actual food, or a cardboard box. And yes, vegetarians get "sickened by meat" if they eat meat. As for longer lifespans...meh. I don't really buy that argument. You don't see terribly many vegetarians living to be over 100. Those ranks are occupied by the carnivores. Plus, no support groups.

82  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Grampa's losing it a little on: 2009 July 01, 19:33:26
My non-insane elders have rolled up some of these nonsensical wishes, like getting their already-married children married. And they had an unmarried young adult son at the time, too. Why didn't they focus on him instead?
It seems like sim parents pick favorites.  Whenever I've had twins, immediately each parent starts rolling a bunch of wants to do stuff with one twin.  Sometimes they pick the same twin, sometimes different, but they always focus on one.

When sims have the 'insane' trait, clearly you can see when you hover over the trait it says 'don't expect your sims' wishes to make sense'. Something along those lines. I don't think it's a programming hiccup at all.
Except that neither elder is insane.  I never said that, and I would have mentioned it.
83  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Grampa's losing it a little on: 2009 June 30, 21:23:55
I had two elders get wishes to see their already married daughters get married. What I found interesting was that both elders rolled these invalid wishes at the exact same time.

Yeah, that's what happened.  They both wanted to see Francesca get married, but only the guy wanted his son James to get on the honor roll.  Weirdest thing.
84  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Grampa's losing it a little on: 2009 June 30, 06:37:34
As soon as my sim hit elder, he suddenly got a wish to see his daughter married.  The only problem- she's already married.  The guy has a good relationship with the parents, so I don't know where this is coming from.  But then it got weirder.  Grampa suddenly got a wish for his adult son to get on the honor roll.  I just deleted the wishes.  Is this something I should be worried about, or is it just a little programming hiccup?
85  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Choosing Sex of Babies on: 2009 June 28, 06:38:27
My sims often make pancakes with watermelon, grapes or even limes. I wonder how they choose the ingredient, at random? (This is when also apples are available)
I'm unclear as to how a "pancake" incorporates such an ingredient to begin with, really. Is this some definition of "pancake" I am unfamiliar with?

I envision it as similar to a blueberry or chocolate chip pancake.  Grapes probably would work, but watermelon definitely wouldn't.  The liquids would throw off the chemistry of the thing.
86  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Donwload not included, so not for Pudding Factory: New Hair CC by Peggy on: 2009 June 27, 07:07:49
Heh, maybe just she decided to make it a beta version after all the complaints about crashing. Something alone the lines of, "Oh, you mean this screws up everyone's game? Well, it's just a test version, guys!"

Anyway, isn't this something she would have noticed if she tried it in her own game? Or is it just lower-end computers that are having problems?

Last I heard, Peggy doesn't play the game herself (but that might just be applicable to The Sims 2).
87  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Hair CC on: 2009 June 25, 21:51:38
Well I could say its a step forward but not so much when it replaces a existing hair.

That would be my primary complaint, as well.

Do the colour wheel options work with it?

Yup, they work perfectly.  I'm scared of it if it will crash my game, though.
88  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Hair CC on: 2009 June 25, 19:59:23
I downloaded it.  I'll report back in a minute or two.

EDIT: First EA patch wants to download!
" Complete list of changes:
Addresses some issues with Speed 2 and 3 moving too slowly. Some machines will have better results when using Speed 2 and 3 now.
Fix to story progression on/off selection toggle.
Fix for a possible crash with audio code.
Fix for babysitter routing off lots with babies.
Addresses some issues with Vsync and refresh rate problems.
Addresses some issues with DVD authentication errors and drive compatibility on startup.
This update deals with some issues on Mac systems that can crash the game while connecting to AFP servers.
Fix for a freeze that can occur when Sims attempt to clean out bad food from the fridge."

EDIT2: All the color sliders work, but the thumbnail isn't updated.

Are the crashes happening just when the hair is being used, or simply when the package is installed?

If you are worried about messing stuff out, Google Docs handles revisions pretty well.

Yup, that's what I did.  Google Documents is a godsend.
90  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I would like a Smoking Mod - Can it be done? on: 2009 June 24, 06:03:02
After the smoking mod, can we also introduce an auto-asphyxiation mod for the game?  It has so many characteristics in common.  We could have Sims spontaneously hanging themselves while wanking off, with a 10% chance that they will drop dead.  Clumsy sims (like that David Carradine sim I was thinking of making) would have a 25% chance of dying.

I love it.  I'd download it in about two seconds.  But it would need a custom announcement in the newspaper.  Someone more creative than I should definitely write it.
91  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Legacy Spreadsheet on: 2009 June 23, 00:21:02
I use Webspiration (www.mywebspiration.com) to make a diagram of my Legacy family.  It's handy to have an expanding family tree in it.
92  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Extreme difficulty in killing sims by fire? on: 2009 June 22, 23:42:24
The wife of my old married couple died, and their relationship was changed to "Fiancee" in his family tree.  Also, their relation to their children was marked in the "we made a baby in the lap of sin/unmarried" way.  I'm not sure if that's significant at all.  Now they're both dead, and under Partner, it says "None".  I guess in Simland "Til death do you part" is taken literally.
93  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Things you DO like... on: 2009 June 22, 21:14:01
One of my sims started playing the guitar.  Her husband picked up their granddaughter and carried her outside to listen to the music.  I thought it was so incredibly cute.  I also like the parties.  My only complaint is that if you have multiple people sharing a party, everyone takes off after the second cake.  It would be nice if they would stick around for an hour afterwards so that my birthday sims could actually say hi.  I love the aging of the other households.  It's been fun to invite the grandkids over and see what their lives have been like.

Could be easier. I mean, what if we had "Fish Using.../Hand Grenade".

The animation for that could be epic.
96  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Music files? on: 2009 June 19, 05:22:10
I've been looking for the music from The Sims 2.  I want some of those pop songs that came with OfB and AL for the custom music station.  I'm a purist with my Simlish, and won't allow any English in my game.  Any tips as to where to look (without buying, I already bought the game, so I sure as hell don't want to pay separately for the music)?

99  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: IMPORTANT DESIGN POLL on: 2009 June 18, 00:53:45
As long as your laptop is capable of scrolling, it doesn't sound like it's a problem. See below.

Figured as much, but I thought it couldn't hurt to describe how my process works.  I don't know if the Sims3 coding treats it differently, since I know absolutely nothing about programming.
100  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: IMPORTANT DESIGN POLL on: 2009 June 18, 00:08:49
I'm on a laptop, so I don't have a scrollwheel.  I sometimes use my mouse, but the scrollwheel has been acting up lately (it will scroll, but clicking and holding it does nothing).  For scrolling, I can use the side of the pad, and for clicking and holding the scrollwheel, Sims 3 allows me to hold down both the right and the left mouse buttons.  That doesn't work in all games, though.  So basically, I have the capabilities to use a scrollwheel, but in different forms.  I hope that wouldn't be a problem.

If Awesomemod does end up needing a scrollwheel, give us a little advance notice, so that us strangeos can take care of our system.
