76  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What does "Japanese Bin.bundle.package" do? on: 2008 December 04, 13:28:16
Just curious, did you only look in CAS! or did you also try generating an npc or townie on a lot?

I guess it has generated new npc too. Y'know, when Sims brings home a new friend from work, that new friend may be either a new generated NPC or an already exisiting NPC or a playable character. When it takes a long time to load this brought-home friend, it means it is a newly generated one, or at lease I believe o.

From what I see, the new templates are not very different from the previous ones. Duno why Maxis created different templates for different countries in Asia.

FYI, the face templates for Japanese, Korean and Chinese are all different.
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What does "Japanese Bin.bundle.package" do? on: 2008 December 04, 12:30:50
SiuPang will you be testing this? Is this a safe procedure? I am curious but not that curious to break my whole game for some small face change

Yes, I can guarantee you it will not *bork* your game... I have been using this method to import in-game pop and housemix musics from other language version of the game too. Tongue

But as mentioned earlier, I cannot spot any difference with the "new' face templates... Am I too dumb to observe it?
78  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What does "Japanese Bin.bundle.package" do? on: 2008 December 04, 08:52:13
Really?  You mean if you choose a different language you also get different face templates?  How unexpectedly cool.
Is it possible to extract the faces, and if so, could you give me some pointers as to where to begin tackling this?

Yes, you use those templates by copying and pasting them to your language's locale folder.
Here is how,:

For instance, I am playing with the UK English version of the game but want to use the Tradition Chinese face templates instead.
Go to D:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Locale\Traditional Chinese\Bins and copy and paste the Traditional Chinese Bin.bundle.package to D:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Locale\UK English\Bins. Since the "Bins" folder is not there in the first place, I will have to create it myself.
Then, next time you run the game, it will use the Chinese face template instead.

*If you are using US English, "English" under "Locale" is your folder. For the rest, it is obvious which is your langauge.

BTW, I am still wondering if the face templates of the Japanese, Korean and Chinese are all the same Tongue
79  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Asian Fusion Collection on: 2008 December 04, 08:44:10
Is there a list of the not-yet-bought items Huh

BTW, some reminders here to new sharers ( though i guess most people here have been using this method already )
*Reminder to Content Sharers*

Here is how to find the newly bought Store content if you have no idea how to do it in a faster way.

After your EA Download Manager has completed the relevant download. Do not run your game yet, otherwise you won't be able to find the separate .package file for the object or skin.
Now, go to *C:\Users\<Your Windows Username>\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Downloads (* it isn't necessarily the C: Drive, but it must be the drive where your Windows Operation System is installed) , look for the folder "Objects" for new object download and "Skins" for new skin download. Copy and paste the relevant .package file inside somewhere else. This is the file that is needed. If you are kind enough to share it here, upload the file. After that, you can run the game and then the files inside C:\Users\Vic\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Downloads will be incorporated into the bulk files SCObjects.package and SCSkins.package under C:\Users\Vic\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Store Edition\Packed automatically.

So if you share file this way, you can avoid the nuisance of finding and extracting the relevant contents from SCObjects.packgage or SCSkins.package.

PS. The above stuff is just there to help people who may not know how to share contents in a more efficient way. If you know a better way, feel free to correct me and post here.  Wink

jaldeer - your link gives a HTTP 404 Not Found error message. Would you care to fix it, for the sake of us window & door junkies? (They may not be all that spectacular, but they're windows... and doors.)

But it is working for me
81  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Run the game without installing? on: 2008 December 03, 07:54:38
I've managed to screw my system because of SP3 and I will have to reinstall.
Since the game is on like 20 disks + extra work patching, hacking (begone evil SecuROM!) it and adding essential fixes, I'm wondering whether it's possible to just copy the files and add necessary registry entries for it to work.

I sucessfully played the Sims 1 like that, but I know some games and programs just bork.

Has anyone tried to skip the installation? Did it work?

I tried that before... Even if you have backed-up all the necessary registry key and you have put them all back in places, the game still WON'T run. Not sure why.
82  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is the M&G 1 tile solar panel borked? on: 2008 December 03, 07:45:31
Um, the 1 tile one is primarily for mounting on roofs, where they sit nicely side-by-side, while the two tile one is for ground mounting...

I see... But I have been placing both on the ground  Undecided
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / What does "Japanese Bin.bundle.package" do? on: 2008 December 03, 07:37:57
Go to <Drive>:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Locale\Japanese\Bins and you will find this package. What actually does it do?
84  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Ninjas Wear Black, Dammit! on: 2008 December 03, 07:31:41

That image scares me. The angle at which his hand is hanging makes it look like his wrist is broken. It looks like bad photoshopping.

Is that guy a Japanese? He doesn't look like a Chinese or Korean...
85  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Store Stuff on: 2008 December 03, 07:26:31
Just wondering when will EA stop milking the Store? Do you think they will still create new exclusive downloads when Sims 3 is out? Since the Store is still in their Beta phrase, what will happen when it has gone Gold?

I do like new items by EA but I really hate the way they are milking them... I would rather have new stuff packs instead!
86  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Asian Fusion Collection on: 2008 December 03, 07:10:01
Is there anything worth 50 points that I can grab? I just kind of want to be done with the store now.

How about the Commanding Soji Screen? Nobody has bought that yet up to this moment

Sorry, some1 *got it* already  Tongue
87  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Bonus item of M&G? on: 2008 December 02, 05:37:18
The bench was offered by xzone in CZ Republic... Anyone knows any Czech friends here?  Huh
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: M&G Pre-order Bonus? A Bench? on: 2008 December 02, 05:36:22
Official EA download store?

Sigmund, I tried it in my game and it just installs the planter so its not a typo.

Not EA digital store, as far as I know... They gave away the planter only.
I guess really no one offered the Bench, perhaps because EA forgot to give the code to the outlets.

Just found out who offered the bench! It's XZONE at Czech Republic... Any CZ guys or ladies here? We need your help!  Cry

Broken? Really? They all seem to work fine in my game.

One of them has a flashy blue mesh at its back.

OK... you guys can download this fix for the N99 borked billboard.

90  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Is the M&G 1 tile solar panel borked? on: 2008 December 02, 05:24:35
Has anyone also found that it's so strange the 1 tile solar panel only stands on it legs while the 2 tile one has a circular base under its legs? And when you try to place the 1 tile one on the lot, it occupies the tile next to the one that you choose? I guess the 1 tile one is borked, just like the carpet Undecided
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: music for certain neighborhoods on: 2008 November 30, 18:27:54
Is there any way I can make certain music tracks (or stations) play for places with a theme like sims 1 did?

No. But something weird happened to me before when I put some custom songs to my Buy folder, those songs were always played at Downtown's 'Hood mode. Anyone knows why? Or is it normal it plays Buy mode songs at 'Hoods?
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I know what society groups do the NPCs belong to on: 2008 November 30, 18:23:14
Suddenly I have come up an idea. I am not sure if I should open a new thread, but anyway I just post it here.

It has been so disturbing that local people in Far East looks too Western... I want to make them more Eastern by having blacker hair, slightly darker or a bit yellower skin and smaller eyes so that those people in Kimono can look more Japanese. Just wondering how much time it gonna take me if I am to edit those locals one by one. Undecided
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Neighborhood Object Gone Missing with AL Patch 2!!! on: 2008 November 30, 18:14:24
Cheers for that link Darcy! I was thinking about them yesterday when I visited my Strangetown Downtown which I hadn't visited since OFB only to find most of my billboards were now graffiti covered.

But one of the billboards there is broken... I made a fix for myself... But it's not convenient to post it without N99's consent.
94  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: M&G borked my room mate? on: 2008 November 30, 15:49:16
Did you remember to take your downloads folder out before you installed? I've heard that can bork things. I don't know in what way though. Normally it's not a big deal for SPs but this one is being treated as an EP so it's always better to err on the side of caution.

It never occurred to me the installation of a new game with tamper with the Downloads folder. I guess all the installation does is to open a new folder in ProgramFiles and copy things to it; copy some other files to my save folder in MyDocuments; copy something to the start menu and then set up some Windows registries. I guess it won't touch the downloads folder.... But the installation of a new game with mess up custom contents in the way that when you run the new game for the first time, it will automatically disable custom contents. So, if you accidentally save a lot at this time, the next time you go to the same lot you will find all your custom contents missing... I am not sure about what have happened to others, but I myself came across something like this before.
95  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: How to fix plant recolors that Seasons broke? on: 2008 November 30, 15:42:18
SaraMK, may i ask u one of thing. Are the recolors you referring to shipped with the game or some custom contents?
96  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: How to fix plant recolors that Seasons broke? on: 2008 November 30, 12:00:00
The only way I know to fix it is to redo the recolor (create a new recolor and use the texture from the old one), but this is such a pain to do when you have a lot of them. I did about ten before I was bored to tears. Oh well.

Would you mind attaching the fixes that you have made here Huh
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: M&G carpet failure on: 2008 November 29, 08:31:19
Is there someone more awesome than me, who can fix it? 'Cause the rug could be nice without this stupid failure.

The Author of "Proper Life Stories Conversion" has fixed something similar before... You may want to seek his help.
98  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: How to fix plant recolors that Seasons broke? on: 2008 November 29, 08:22:43
I was looking at some of the stuff in my junk folder, and saw some old plant recolors that I used to really like, but which were broken by Seasons.

Is there an easy way to fix them?

Oh, did Seasons? It never occured to me Seaons broke some plant recolours. Would you mind providing some pictures here?
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I know what society groups do the NPCs belong to on: 2008 November 27, 18:59:08
You can check in SimPE.

I hate this method... So cumbersome Embarrassed. Anyway, thx!
100  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Store Stuff on: 2008 November 27, 18:58:15
It's an attempt to con people out of their money by selling them something they already have, by being ambiguous as to what exactly the compilation actually contains. To what low will EA sink?

Yea, now I can see why EA is trying to sell its shares to Disney  Undecided
