Self-installing generally means that it works just like the sims2packs - you open the file, and it extracts itself to the folder without you having to place the files manually, so everything goes just where it is supposed to.

@Pescado - I think we have a case of "Babby adopted by wolves" or at the very least, early genetic werewolf-ism. I think, though I am not sure, that he was remarking on the vaguely Romulus-and-Remus appearance of it. In which case the answer to his question would be "His brother killed him.". Of course, I may be grossly misinterpreting.

Could it have been thwarted by the extra fancy trusted platform module my compuiter guy put in?
This sounds like spyware to me. If you have been using noncracked EPs, then you have Securom. Look harder. Also, you are an it until I decide to call you she. Or, if I feel like it, a Clitaxis.

It claims to have done that already and found nothing. I suspect it merely failed, since it also claims to have bought and used the EAxian disc as-is. It also claims to have had some spyware installed by some "compuiter guy", whatever a compuiter is. I, naturally, suggest reformatting.

Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Business Controller: Business Runs YOU!

The BRY controller is designed for efficiency, and scheduling tasks rather than performing them as the controller performs them now would be inefficient and potentially destructive. Example: farming. What if a set of plants is being watered, and the watering action is cut off by the end of the schedule, so not all of the plants are watered?
As to the "sales feature", if you mean "Business.../Be Salesman", that exists.

Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Anti Aliasing issues?

I think stupidParrot's problem may lie elsewhere, actually. My terribly obsolete computer can hold a max of 1gig of RAM, which is what I have; I have no antialiasing problems - everything looks "smooth", as the Parrot calls it. My processor also operates on a single core, Pentium 4, 1.79GHz. nVidia GeForce FX 5500 for graphics card. As I am not having this problem, I must conclude that Pescado is right on the ball, here. Of course, with that line of attack, the Parrot may have to compensate for other effects, such as a blurring or spinning appearance.

Congratulations! You Have Missed the Point Entirely! Anyway, Fibrefox is outdated and virusprone. You should use the latest version of Macrosoft's Itlernet Exploder. Also, when you get to the Abobe page, you should download the Stockwabe player, too. And make sure you have the newest version of Sud Microsystem's Jaja.

I'm going to err on the side of "Pathetic Fucking Moron" and guess that you typed "setQuarterTilePlacement [on | off]" when anyone intelligent enough to live would have recognised that "|" means "or" and "[]" mean "select one of the options in the brackets", leading said intelligent person to type "setQuarterTilePlacement on" to turn it on and "setQuarterTilePlacement off" to turn it off. Am I right?

Excessive Details
You have likely overestimated your problem. on my fateful try to install MGS, I had the same problem. It seems that somehow, a few files from AL can encounter modification, which has the patch fail. restoring from the AL disc helps.
I reinstalled it to the EAGames directory after I realized that it wasn't in the right folder. This time it ran the patch and installed M&G with no problems at all. Reinstalling the game is the automated equivalent of restoring the files from the disk, fixing the issue that FatD brought up.

One need be neither smart nor devious to acquire one's games, one merely needs to dock one's galleon at the Pirate Bay. One will need, however, a program of the BitTorrent-client variety. Consider uTorrent (Properly speaking, it should perhaps be mTorrent, considering it uses the letter "Mu", but that is beside the point.)

Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Invisible Attackers?
|
on: 2008 October 15, 20:16:38

It may have been a stealth attack, but it is also possible that the creatures had not been "loaded" by the game yet - I have noticed that it, at least on my outdated rig, often takes a few moments for things around you to completely appear. This especially sucks in Space, when, say, you might only have a little bit of time left to eliminate five diseased creatures and you can't actually see them, or your planet is being invaded and you can't see the ships yet, but they can shoot at you just fine. So far, in both my Creature games, that sort of effect has occurred with every single creature I met, the first time I met them - they were all invisible at first, then became completely black, then filled in with texture.
