51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Business lot problem, feel free to laugh....Using business controls you mod on: 2006 May 30, 11:25:09
Yes I need him too.  Before the mods it was really frustrating have to do even more Micro-managing.  Thanks, the owner does have perfected creativity skill.  The customers do like the pool table and the karoke machine.  But I am wondering how long should I actually have the business open?

Thanks,

52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Business lot problem, feel free to laugh....Using business controls you mod on: 2006 May 30, 11:05:26
Hello,

Interesting problem here and I bet it's a Maxis problem but I'll share my thoughts here and maybe someone has run into the same problem.

Here's the lot setup:  Originally started as a "pay to get in" lot and became a hybrid pay to get in and shop.  Basically a bar setup.  Remember the original Nightlife lot that has a couple of Poker tables and a bar?  Well I had a sim buy this and place a ticket thingy at the door, sims paid to get in but the lot was losing money so I put a couple of shelves in the back and a flower arranging table and began to sell flowers.  Now the sims pay to get in and can buy flowers if they so desire.  Now the "real game guide" by Prima games doesn't say anything about NOT doing this, making a "hybrid" lot so I did it.  The lot is finally making money but having to dazzle customers like crazy.  On this lot are the owner and 2 employees.  One employee is assigned to sales and has been promoted to manager the other employee is the cashier.  The owner fills in as bartender when necessary or cashier and also makes flowers and usually does this at home so his inventory is pretty full of stock.  It's only a couple of shelves.

Now comes the fun:  Here is a typical day.  Price at door on ticket thingy set to expensive.  Owner calls in employees.  Employees arrive, owner opens the business.  Cashier goes to cash register, Manager begins dazzling at the door, Owner dazzles customers at door.  (Business is a rank 9)  Owner begins dazzling customers shopping flowers.  Manager's energy down halfway, mod takes over, Manager is Caffeinating, Owner is now tired, getting hungry but continues dazzling customers at the door, cashier's mood is turning yellow, but all is functioning, losing a little money at door or at the shelves but business is still in the green.

Now the weirdness starts....Cashier's mood goes to red, cashier leaves station, bathroom controls you mod takes over, uses bathroom, Cashier needs to caffeinate now and does so, now just the completely controllable owner is running the whole show but has to quit because now he has no energy and hungry.  Have the owner grill hot dogs or hamburgers for food and caffeinates, during this operation the manager is "good to go" and begins dazzling maybe 4 to 6 times before the mod has him caffeinating again.  Now while the owner is still trying to recharge, where the hell is the cashier?  Well there is the cashier pacing back and forth after using the bathroom with a green or yellow bubble over his head and customers lined up at the register. The owner has to quit eating or caffeinating cause I can't control the manager well enough for him to "ring up the customers" for those damn mods taking over.  (Nothing personal Pescado, I like your mods.)  Check status of Cashier, fairly paid, yes, manger fairly paid, yes.  Cashier now is eating food made by the owner and bulbble goes to green if wasn't before then Cashier goes to pacing again usually at the dishwasher cause he took his plate to the dishwasher and is standing there with a green bubble over his head blocking anyone from using the dishwasher.  Now what does this do?  Well now everyone starts taking his coffee cup or plate to the bathroom to wash in the sink now the damn bathroom uses you mod takes over and here goes the bathroom scenario.  (Now it will take the Manager forever to caffeinate)  Suddenly Cashier becomes active running through the store, found something dirty to clean up.  (I'll note here that the cashier only becomes active when something needs cleaning otherwise he just paces.)  So I think maybe if I reassign him through this mess.  I'll assign him to the flower arranging table.  Oh good he's going to the table to make flowers great, no, not great now I just changed the place for him to pace,  there he goes flying again a customer just finished eating, now he's pacing in front of the dishwasher again.  "moveobjects on" and move his butt.  Now let's try assigning him to the cashier position again, oh great he's just pacing at the register with customers lined up at the register, okay manager, nope forget that he's still caffeinating from being controlled by the bathroom controls you mod from earlier.  Maybe if I try using the Hammer and Sickle to give orders, nope no good, oh well nice try.  Okay owner let's go, oh stop waving your arms like an over-active drama queen and just run the cash register, geez!

And this is the frustrating cycle till I just get mentally exhausted and have the Owner close the business and send employees home.  Now what?  There's the manager just pacing somewhere on the floor make the Manager active and "click off" the sales icon in the upper left corner, now the Manager leaves.  Now the owner drives home.  Finally the end and business left in the green.  Geez, even my forehead is wet from perspiration after all this.

Anyone else know what is going on wrong?  Maybe I shouldn't have the russian toilet rolls installed in each bathroom?  Is there a work around?  Got to be some kind of Maxis problem.  I'm using all the business mods except the nolamehires mod and yes the anti-decay mod as well.

Thanks for your time, hope you enjoyed this little scenario,

Hellllo everyone,

The main thing is I wish someone would modify how much energy is consumed on dazzling customers.  My manger's scenario is like this, dazzle about 3 or 4 times then this mod has him caffeinate because his  energy is halfway down.  And this becomes the vicious cycle.

Thanks for any help,

Thank you Rose,

That's it.  The skillinator, that's why I couldn't search and find it.  I knew it had some unique name.  Thanks again.  But if anyone knows of a better one just let me know.

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if I made a mistake or did I actually see a mod/hack somewhere that would have sims study, bodybuild, or autonoumously do whatever was necessary for that sim to prepare for his next promotion?  if it does exist please tell me where it is located cause I can't find it again.  If it doesn't exist then this would be a great mod.

Thanks,

56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Mom, Where do Dormies come from? on: 2006 March 23, 01:15:22
But seriously where, how do dormies get populated?  I'm asking cause I'm wondering if the DormGender chooser mod is actually controlling the gender of the sim generated or just choosing a gender from the pool of allready generated dormies?

Thanks,

57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hide Command, Has it been made usable for BHAVs? on: 2006 March 18, 14:07:27

Just wondering if there is a mod that uses the "hide command", yes the one dormies use when supposedly sleeping and is that the sames as what is listed for Op Codes in Simpe "Event-Hide Timer"?

Thanks for any info,

58  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: OFB Community Lot Car Bug on: 2006 March 16, 10:09:19
I have a neighborhood that is pre-OFB.  This kind of problem happens quite a bit.  There are other little "bugs" in the game, one is detailed in the QA discussion forum about old townies crash my game.  My work around is this I go into debug mode after entering the neighborhood and before entering any lots.

It would appear that for some reason this entire neighborhood wasn't updated by the OFB expansion pack.  Any new neighborhoods I make have no problems so far except for that restocking fridge bug that is complained about a great deal at thesims2.ea.com website.

59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your second and third impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 10, 09:50:10
I believe that beds are like lockers/dressers they can be used by sims on a community lot ONLY by owners.

60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your second and third impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 08, 18:08:42
Overall it's okay.

It should have been bundled with the real game manual sold by Primagames (I call all game guides the REAL game manuals).  Lockers/dressers don't work on community lots except for the sim that owns the lot.  The only practicality may be and I haven't tried this yet is the home business.

The only way a sim makes real money fast from the lot is by buying, raising the rank, then selling the lot and better to sell the lot back to the community or a townie NOT a playable sim so the lot will reset back to rank of 0.

The lot MUST be played each day (or the lot doesn't make any money for the day if you don't play at all) by the owner or take a loss by operating it remotely IF you have a manager.  Therefore you could spend hours playing an owned community lot and really not progressing in the game.

Oh!  And one other thing, When a sim goes to a community lot to restock the regrigerator one better check to see how much is needed because unlike before when a sim buys groceries a sim can now always buy the maximum amount of groceries of 600 dollars and may only need 250 dollars or less to restock the fridge.

The extra goodies with the expansion pack are always welcome.

That's about it,

Pcgeekri

Thanks Crammyboy,

I never really noticed because I've been using this mod for about a couple of weeks just before OFB was released.  Thanks for the help.  I'll give that going into buy mode trick a try.

Take care,

Pcgeekri

Well this maybe Crammyboy's penis mod possibly, someone else is having a problem as am I if you read the messages over at Modthesims2 where crammyboy's penis hack is located.  So basically I'm still playing my game and patiently waiiting for Crammyboy to post updates and or information on his mods, he's really busy therefore I'm patiently waiting.

Another possibility is that these dormitories were being used prior to the install of OFB.  And now after OFB and a new sim goes to college on the same dorm lot the problem may just go away.  I've had that happen before, the problem just resolves itself.  So far I haven't had a problem with residential lots.

Thanks,

Pcgeekri

Crammyboy,

What strings do I need to change to raise/lower the threshold and also to display the correct threshold naked score?

Thanks,

LOL!  Here is other funny part.  When the sims initially "hides" in his dorm room the penis isn't so there's this floating penis with hair just floating in the room.  lmao.

Crammyboy,

Just for your information to help you troubleshoot when you get the OFB expansion, what's happening with the university townies at the dorm is this:  When the male sim "hides" in his room let's say for sleeping then unhides in the morning the penis is not unhiding with the male sim so that's when the penis dissappears.

Take care,

Crammyboy,

True, True, okay you got me on that one.  lol.  Good point.  I just thought that maybe, one day, this may be for OFB as well.  Take care.

Thanks Crammyboy,

Crammyboy,

Just wanted to let you know that I have installed the Open for Business expansion.  I was at the university with these naked sims in the dormitory lot using this nudist hack and your penis mod from MTS2 and suddenly penises started to dissappear.  lol.  Just wanted to let you know.

Thanks,

Very nice mod Crammyboy,

Just a suggestion but it would be nice when the "always get naked" option is selected the pool is treated just like the hot tub by the sim and townies getting nude when going swimming in the pool.

Thanks,

70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / What is a portal? on: 2006 January 18, 18:43:49
Reading about Crammyboy's juggling fix.  I'm new to hacks so I just have to ask, "What is a portal?".

Ok, thanks where sims, vehicles appear/dissapear.  Next part, are there portals on sims?  For example when objects appear in hands?

Thanks,

71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Critical Hack List..Is there such a list? on: 2006 January 17, 21:14:47
Thanks for the info, I'll check the links.  Yes I like the new rating system.
One little thing, the first link is dated Nov. 28, 2005 so is this post patch?  If a critical hack list is made I hope it clearly states that these are fixes needed after the Nightlife Patch.

Thanks,

72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Critical Hack List..Is there such a list? on: 2006 January 17, 20:25:55
Tried searching this site for a critical list of hacks (fixes) that Maxis hasn't fixed yet.  Is there one available and is it updated as new hacks (fixes) are made?

Thanks,
