126  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / This is a store.. you are a customer... BUY SOMETHING! on: 2006 March 10, 07:21:51
Feel free to make fun of me, or to offer helpful suggestions...  I'm running into major irkitude with my stores.  I've set buyable things as buyable.  I put one fun object on the lot so my employees can take a break and chill... and that object is the focal point for everyone who isn't ventrilo-farting each other.  >_<  Why won't they just buy something--after all, they came to the smegging store.  I don't go to the grocery store to prank strangers, I go there to buy food!
127  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it just me or is chat failing all the time since OFB? on: 2006 March 10, 07:17:21
It's not just you.  I'm having the same smegging issue.  No matter what they talk about, they *seem* to always be incompatible with each other.  (I can't say "always" for sure because I work too much to play often.)  It's really beginning to irk.

moveinall_EP2.package (Unknown creator)--nofriends version.  This is the one that was sticking it for me.

I use the Paradise Sims defaults.  They're realistic without looking like they could solve our oil crisis with their foreheads.
130  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Categorizing all my downloaded hair... Any advice on how to keep my sanity? on: 2006 January 08, 00:22:47
Have you considered loading bodyshop to do your hair deleting?  When I go through and clean out the clothes/hair/makeup/whatever in my game, I always use bodyshop... it's faster than in-game for sim-based stuff since it doesn't load all the objects.
131  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What is your aspiration? on: 2005 December 22, 03:09:40
I'm having macaroni and cheese; does that count?

Doesn't matter...  I'm a knowledge.  Confirmed science geek who's looking to go back to study for four additional languages...  maybe five.

Thank you to both of you, SaraMK and dewshine.  I was finally able to track down the darn thing and get it removed.  Thanks again for your help.

Ahh, thank you!  Pictures work magic in this sort of case.  *watches Red Green and waits for Simpe to scan*
134  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I get rid of a corrupt sim in CAS or Bodyshop? on: 2005 December 18, 21:07:19
Well, Scan Folders has no numbers anywhere, so you are safe. Smiley

So I'm seeing.  What criteria do I search under?  I don't see a "sims" option...  (Apologies for being such a dunce.)
135  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I get rid of a corrupt sim in CAS or Bodyshop? on: 2005 December 18, 21:01:13
SimPE's Scan Folders will actually tell you which files are sims. It takes a loooong time to scan using SimPE if you have a lot of files, so I suggest narrowing things down to those blank or unknown files using Clean Installer, and then using SimPE to make sure only actual sim files are left.

Oh, that's good to know.  I haven't dealt with SimPE too much because I have a bit of a problem with numbers, and all the values are set as numbers.  Thank you.
136  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I get rid of a corrupt sim in CAS or Bodyshop? on: 2005 December 18, 20:55:55
If your sims are in both saved sims and downloads you might use Cleam Installer to sort your files.  Clean installer flags some sims as "People" or "Character" and others as, well, nothing.  So all files that are a string of 16 alpha-numeric with a blank type is a sim.  (names usually look like 6a180059-52c7145b.package).

Good luck.

*rubs temples*  Oh, dear.  You've given me a big help with that last bit, since I don't have any sims stored in the SavedSims folder.  It's probably good that I can't really play the game--only have 512 RAM, and XP is a memory hog.  *goes Sim-hunting*

Thanks for that info, dewshine.  I wondered what the heck those things were in CI.
137  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How do I get rid of a corrupt sim in CAS or Bodyshop? on: 2005 December 18, 20:35:54
I've discovered that I have a corrupted premade sim in one of my CAS sections... CAS crashes when trying to load the thumbnails, but Bodyshop doesn't crash until I click on the sim.  I can't mouse-over the sim in BS to get the name of the file, and CAS won't load even the thumbs so I can do it.  Would anyone know how I'd go about getting rid of that stupid sim?  Thanks in advance for any advice, and feel free to laugh at me.  I work in customer service; I've heard it all before.

Feel free to thwap me for saying, but I just highlighted all the files I wished to convert, unclicked/reclicked the ages, and then clicked "set age."  Even though the files were different modes, it still worked, and it didn't classify them all as pj's or swimwear or what have you.  Only problem is, I ended up accidentally doing that to some of my costume makeup/glasses, and now I have multiple instances of them.

Hmmm.  After all the moaning and groaning we were all doing about the furious thing no one's replied yet? Wink  I guess I'm going to have to give this a run-through in a test neighborhood and see what happen as soon as I get some time to do it.  Life's just been too crazy lately!

We're all scared of what it might do... and running about like the proverbial headless chickens, trying to ready ourselves for the holidays.  *hugs C-boy for this*
140  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I have Simpotence on: 2005 November 10, 05:28:27
Gee... I really wish imagination was my problem.  Mine's RAM.  The lovely thing about getting a computer for one's birthday is that one doesn't have to pay for it... however, the Sims doesn't run too well on only 512.  All these challenges sound great, though, that's for sure.  Definitely have to mess with them if I can ever afford more.

*resumes lurkdom*
141  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Married+kids in NL on: 2005 September 18, 23:47:24
I've actually been testing this with my Nigmos family...  I'm practically playing Legacy for all the stuff I don't have anymore.  Married people can go on a date with each other if they want--the date starts at home and can be moved to Downtown.  I haven't checked nanny necessity because I have a teenager to watch the kids at the moment.   You can take the whole family downtown for an outing, or just take everyone down to hang out, or even just take the parents down to hang out for awhile and get away from the sproglings.  It's actually rather flexible.  If you're married/joined and you scope room, no matter ill-matched the personalities are or how ill-matched the turn on/turn off sections are set, the spouse/partner of the scoping sim will always sparkle if that spouse/partner is there.
142  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A few nice features.... on: 2005 September 18, 23:40:26
The EP is buggy as all heck, as we all know, but there is one major thing that I've found that I do like--the box.  It's designed in such a way that I can keep all my discs and registration codes in the one box, and not have to worry about where they all ended up.  (It's heck having an ex bf who steals them because he has a computer and I don't--I just steal his on the weekends.)    I just wish Maxis would put out DVD editions like they did with the base game, so there would be fewer discs to look after, but I remember reading somewhere that people thought they'd be able to put them into their DVD players and play the game that way...  Idiot masses...
