Title: Teeth Outside of Mouth: WTF?
Post by: Haley on 2008 April 06, 21:33:49
I just installed The Sims (and all EPs and stuff packs I have) on a brand spanking new computer. I made two Sims in BodyShop, then moved them into a house with CAS. One male, one female. Both turned out great in CAS/BodyShop.

When I moved them onto their lot, I saw some white shit on my female Sim's bottom lip. I figured it was some borked makeup or something, so I went to change her appearance. The white shit still wouldn't go away. Upon some further investigation - and the first Whoo Hoo scene - I see the white shit is actually her teeth. They are 100% outside of her mouth at all times. Pretty weird.

I'm wondering how the hell do I put her dentures/teeth back in her mouth? She seems to be the only Sim with this bizarre issue.

I'd love to see a picture of that.

Unfortunately, the only time it is quite hilarious is during event sequences, IE: whoo hoo, baby being born, etc, and I have no idea how to get a picture during those.

The rest of the time it just looks like she has really chapped, flaky lips.

The only thing I can think of is to give her plastic surgery, her cheeks might be too thin.

Use the print screen key to take a screen capture and paste it into a graphics program afterwards.

Can't actually help with the teeth problem, though.

The disease has now spread. It appears EVERY female Sim made in CAS (no matter what age or neighborhood) has this defect, including my own "me" Sim. Now for the photographic evidence:

^ Me looking very unfortunate with my teeth outside my mouth.

That has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen in this game.  :D Great pic.

Are you using a custom skin? It could be the skin that's causing the issue.

Off topic, but: where did you get the hair?

Wow!This is great. :D Problem may be linked to your Face-Replacements,but not sure.

I can't really tell from the picture, but are the teeth actually outside her mouth, as a shape, or is it just a weird texture in place of the lips? I know the teeth textures are part of the skin files, maybe your default replacements got borked somehow.

That sim looks scary. Like it will eat you while you sleep.

@MsMaria: Thank you. I'm glad my self Sim could amuse you!

@eblair: I am using custom skins, but this was only happening on females, not males, and it didn't matter what skintone I was using.

@Pyromaniac: PMBD > TSR > Xandher > Krissy Hair Collection via RaonJena mesh

@Alexx & Ellatrue: Nope. It was actually something quite simple that I didn't think of until now. It was the damned EAxis graphics defaults in my game. I set the Sim character detail to "High" and it completely went away on my self Sim, and my other female Sims. Problem resolved. I still am curious, though, as to why the hell the teeth (yes the teeth as a shape) jumped out. Very odd.

I'm glad you all enjoyed Scary-Teeth-Haley while she lasted!

I believe a lot of custom and default skins are designed only to be used at high resolution, so that's probably the problem.

I've seen this before, and figured one of my default faces was to blame. I never thought to play with the graphics settings. In my game, it doesn't appear on ALL female sims, just 1 or 2 at a time, and very randomly. Very mysterious...

@jsalemi: I am using custom defaults by Lyholy of MTS2, as well as some other skins I got from various sites. I don't think it was the custom skintones at all. My male Sims have the same skintones as their wives or whatever, and their teeth were not denture-ized.

@Elvie: Hooray for someone else having ze issue! Try changing your graphic settings. I have default face templates, as well, and they haven't caused any issues as far as I know. It was simply the graphic detail set by the game.

I'm glad you found the problem!

When I used to play female sims, I used to have this happen on a few of them.  Actually it was a little different than your screenshot.  With my females, the teeth would show through the bottom jaw or a few of them would stick out the sides of the cheeks.  It was because I had the chins too narrow, the cheeks too thin and the face too short.  If it happens again with the new settings, you might want to experiment around with some different shaped faces and see if it happens on a fuller face.
