Don't they have a sofa or a hot tub?
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 03, 17:22:39
Also, if you have a flat roof over part of your bedroom floor, or a large balcony, you could put an outside staircase up and they should just use that instead if their is a routing problem with the stairs. (Always providing you have noroutefail in your hacks...)
78  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Elder got pregnant! (Ste???) on: 2007 November 03, 17:12:48
I've heard of this happening long before BV - someone reported Coral Oldie getting pregnant...but I don't think she actually was able to deliver.
79  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Changing Townie Clothing -- wardrobe is empty! on: 2007 November 03, 17:08:49
Alternatively, couldn't you just put a teleporter plus and Pescado's clothingtool on an inhabited lot, then motherlode, teleport all the townies you want to give new clothes to to that lot and then buy them new clothes with the clothing tool?  As soon as each one is in their new clothes, just use the teleporter again to get rid of them .....you could do this while the resident sim is at work.
80  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 03, 16:55:15
TJ recommends the use of the romancemod with ACR.

Inge, are you using the non-modular stairs?  I always use modular stairs, and never have that particular problem, although sometimes "Ask to be Read to" or "Play Red Hands" etc., can interrupt the queue......
81  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 03, 08:27:34
I do, of course, use the Romance mod, and have done ever since you first made it, and as you say, it does quash a lot of that behaviour, but I tend to think that Uni is a bit of a red light district, really, and some of the "normal" behaviours don't apply, at least to Pleasure sims.  Unfortunately I can't check that out yet, still no main computer, and only have Base Game on this or Base Game + Pets on the laptop.

I'm glad to know that niceness isn't a factor though, as although I mainly prefer my less nice sims, it would be boring if they were all grouchy!
82  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 02, 15:51:31
Problem is, the ACR only actually affects ACR initiated actions, not Maxis ones, so even if you have autonomy set to 0, a visitor can initiate an action and Family sims seem unable to say no!  I think one reason why I have less problems with Romance sims is I tend to give them more assertive personalities, and rarely make them very nice - niceness seems to be one of the factors with some of the Family sims - like "Well, I know I'm married and shouldn't have affairs, but I don't want to hurt your feelings......."
83  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: "Have a Leftover" option is gone. on: 2007 November 02, 14:37:46
It's cheaper to replace the cheap fridge than to get groceries delivered, though I think getting them from the shops works out around the same, but obviously more bother, but I'm pretty sure that replacing the expensive fridge is not cost-effective - but if you're playing the Goths, what's a couple of hundred simoleons?

I think you'd probably like some of Sandy's stuff for your sims - she has a dog-kennel and dog bowl for the down-and-out dog, plus old shoes instead of rubber bones, and a dogsonly bathtub that is cheap and works well (sims can't use it, so I always stick it outside).  The Indus Bedroom is great for that loft you're trying to refurbish (Indus = Industrial (not River Indus).  And the Nightlife fridges come in some cheerful colours, and cost about the same as the expensive fridge.  Around The Sims 2 is definitely one of my favourite sites.

The only problem I have with custom kitchens is that Numenor's SlotEnabler doesn't work for them, so you can't stick a mixer on the corner unit.
84  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: "Have a Leftover" option is gone. on: 2007 November 02, 12:42:20
Well, one reason I suggested Around the Sims is that Sandy put all her updated fridges together - you don't need to visit every single kitchen to get them.
85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about clothing racks.. on: 2007 November 02, 04:55:58
Well, it looks like dehatting in game!  I use the hatless short ponytail from TSR2 a lot for that (can't remember whose it is, though, and still no cash to sort out my main computer!) but only really pretty sims can have that hair without looking awful!  The advantage of the Spring Hair is it covers a lot of the face, LOL!

I think something is off at File Crunch, but I shall keep trying just to see whether it improves!  Then, if I can't get it there, I'll use the other link.  Cheers!

Well, nothing's changed at File Crunch, so I got it from Media Fire on the first attempt.  Thank you!

BastDawn, I truly bow down to your awesomeness at Google!  And thank you for providing links! Grin

Ah, it's not awesomeness at Google, after all, it's awesomeness at dehatting sims!  Haven't been able to download yet, but I'll keep trying.  I registered there, so might even upload something.....

Thanks again.
87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Converting from FAT32 to NTFS file system on: 2007 November 02, 01:43:14
Yes, they do, but it has to be somewhere else as well - somewhere hidden away in Windoze, so when you type the registration key numbers/letters in when asked for them, it has some way of matching them up to see you haven't just made a number up off the top of your head.  In order to restore Windoze, you'd need both the sticker and the registration information (which is not the same as the key, the key only unlocks the information, which in turn allows the program to run.)
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Converting from FAT32 to NTFS file system on: 2007 November 01, 22:52:46
My Sony Vaio laptop came with no Windows CD, but with full instructions (plus continuous reminders) for creating one, plus another for all the rest of the stuff, plus the Vaio stuff etc.  Once the CDs had been made, I was able to get rid of the files on the laptop, and gain disk space.

If you searched for hidden files and folders, it could be that you'll turn up a copy of all those files, which you could then make copies of on CD/DVD, and it may be that the files themselves contain everything necessary to reformat your hard drive and restore using NTFL instead of FAT32.  The recovery CD would presumably contain your registration information.

91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 01, 21:43:34
I've found mostly that all aspirations apart from married/joined Romance sims and married/joined Family sims are totally promiscuous unless you change their autonomy to Spouse Only.  Unmarried Family sims, even when engaged, are trollops (or the male equivalent).

Generally, my Romance sims are (a) jealous (even though according to ACR they aren't) and (b) not given to tomcatting around at home, or anywhere else if the spouse is there.  Nearly all my break-ups, or near break-ups, have been caused by unattached Family sims on the prowl!  Even before ACR, it was Cassandra in at least three versions of the game, started flirting/kissing either with someone she'd brought home from work, or when going home from work with a colleague.  In one game she was married to Beau (I'd played the Brokes a lot before I bothered with the Goths) and brought Daniel home from work, and immediately gave him a romantic kiss, even though Beau was outside clipping hedges!  I never saw Beau move so fast as when he ran across and slapped her face, pummelled her and generally went totally bananas!  I dread to think what had been going on in the changing rooms that day.......
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 01, 20:44:32
ACR certainly spices up the game! Grin

I think the EAxian programmers have some kind of personality problem, though, that they seem to think having a "quick one" normally happens on five minutes acquaintance!  And I hate the way siblings, parents etc. are only too quick to try it on with their son/daughter/sibling's fiance(e) and often the only way to stop them, even after the sim gets married, is to go and check their family boxes in SimPE, as the game only seems to do it automatically for Family sims.

And have you noticed how visiting adults in Uni go completely sex-mad?
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 01, 20:04:57
If they have 3 LBs, and are the right aspirations plus outgoing personalities, they'll woohoo on a five-sim-minute acquaintance - but try any of the romantic interractions out of the love tub, and it's egg-on-the-face time!
94  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bigfoot memento seems borked on: 2007 November 01, 18:50:44
Moving Bigfoot in is AWESOME.  You don't need to keep him in the house.  Move him out of the house as a townie as soon as you get home..  Lots of fun.  Especially when somebody pranks him and he goes bananas.

There is one other bug (or feature, depending on your outlook) associated with Bigfoot.  When he moves in, you get a random gazillion Simoleans, like some 32 bit number wasn't initialized.  I had to use familyfunds to set it back to a reasonable value.

Are you using moveinall?  That was what caused my sims to bring those huge amounts of cash in OFB.
95  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sinking BV General Store on: 2007 November 01, 18:45:23
Veilchen, I sent Micksmum a PM to find out where the church is (Everyday Sims does have several Yahoo groups) and maybe if it's FSF, which I think it will be, I can get the church and e-mail it to you.  Funny thing is, I was a member of most of Sandy's groups, and now I'm not, and can only think it's either because I changed ISPs or I'm on a different computer - but I don't mind joining again!

My church is now cleaned up and ready to go.  The total .zip file size is just over 2MB, so it should e-mail I think.  (Or if necessary I can split it into two, one for the Sims2Pack and one for the info. But I'll try uploading it and see what happens.)

Well, I tried, but I couldn't upload the .zip - talktalk Online Backup is useless!  Back to square one.

Outside the dorm, my playable student had just moved in and within 4 sim hours was ACR woohooing one of the female dormies (I think he had met her as a walk-by when he was a teen in the main hood - so there was some STR/LTR in existence already).

Normally dormies don't do walkbys in the main hood - maybe he met her Downtown on a comm lot or in a Simternet chatroom?
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about clothing racks.. on: 2007 November 01, 12:08:06
Aren't they just!  And I hate how there isn't a single hat for afro-haired sims, which means they either don't get a winter hat, or they get one with the wrong hair underneath, which is silly, you don't get the straighteners out every time you put your hat on!

I think my absolute favourite hat is Sims2Sisters Spring Hair, which unfortunately doesn't have matching hair without the hat, but maybe one day I'll find a hair that is a good match for it.
98  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 01, 12:01:16
Well, if you use a cleaned up template for your college, (I'm sure there's one around) then create your college which should then have no dormies, create as many dormies as you think you want and then go into SimPe you can mess around a bit with their personalities if you want, and then move the whole lot into your townie family there and then, so if you have twenty you can do it all in one fell swoop, and next time you open your game they should all be there, and they will have the customized personalities instead of the limited CAS ones, which can make it a little more interesting to play them.
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom-created dormies/Uni NPCs with the teleporter shrub on: 2007 November 01, 05:04:42
I've never actually tried that, but you could simply create them as YAs and move them into the townie household in SimPE since dormies, townies and ss members are all in the same household.

Well, you only see it when there is something that needs to be watered, weeded or clipped.  That's the advantage of using the skillinator as well, they can macroskillinate gardening, and if there is nothing to be done in the garden they will feed, pee and shower and then just walk about - which is when you can stop them and get them to do something else.
