Title: Floopyboo's Slice of Australiana
Post by: floopyboo on 2007 November 01, 00:19:56
Cascade Falls National Park

I spent all day today making this one, inspired by the Tambourine National Parks - particularly Cedar Creek Falls - which were an hour away from where I grew up.

It's surprisingly easy to load, and isn't prone to congestion. It has been designed with visibility in mind, so there is a hint of Australian Wet Sclerephyll - Rainforest without compromising visibility. The package file includes all the stuff, so if you want to bulk it up, go for it. (it won't need much down the bottom, but as you go vertical, go nuts with the foliage & don't bother with the eucalypts because I've already put enough in that location for a true rainforest.)

Made in: TS2 base game, Nightlife, University, Open For Business, Pets, Family Fun Stuff, Glamour Life Stuff, Seasons, Bon Voyage. I can't guarantee it will work with a different setup, but who knows.

This lot has been playtested within an inch of it's life. That said, if something does break & it's not related to a difference of game setup, I'd love to hear about it. Assuming, of course, you actually want to download (http://www.4shared.com/file/27975506/9b21a1b2/Cascade_Falls_National_Park.html?) the thing in the first place.

It's beautiful! DLing it now.

I think I will put some parrots in it if I can hide the cages somewhere, they can fly around and add to the rainforest effect. (Hmm, a hack that will allow 2 or more parrots per cage would be helpful here, the cages take up so much room) :P

I'm pretty sure I saw an invisible cage on mts2 at one stage, but don't quote me on that. It's certainly worth a try to look for it though.

Let me know how it plays for you.

Strueth.

Where are the empty stubbies and disposable nappies?

*plonk*Felcign*/plonk*

Either you're giving us all a bad name or listening to bad stereotypes. Oh, and it's strewth, thankyou. It may be short for "Gods Truth" but there's no u in it.

I like the park. It reminds me of some of the land in the glasshouse mountains I used to visit as a child. Now all I need is a Neighbourhood that it's appropriate for it to be in - thankyou.

I'm still tweaking a camping ground with swimmable lake to go with this. I found the eucalypts on mts2 & I did not realise how much I needed them in my game. Sims went from being some bizzarro land abstract thing to something I could relate to the minute I plonked down the first tree.*

Anyway, I'll have something to go with this shortly - as soon as I get around to playtesting this final version.

Thanks for all the votes of confidence. :D

*Make sure you read the descriptions on the eucalypts. I almost wet myself laughing.:D

Technically, it's slang and I'll spell it anyway I can/do/will/want.

Thanks for the plonking.  I've missed it...

Lake Ettamogah Camping Ground

Inspired by childhood camping trips to Lake Cooroibah & Somerset Dam, this lot features a swimmable lake which really is central to the whole concept of this lot. Fishing, camping & swimming are order of the day.

The decking can lead to kicky-bag-related congestion, and that really can't be helped as I've made the thing as big as the game would allow me, but I have compensated for this by providing a secondary eating area. This lot is built with 'no bathroom dishes' in mind, so there are discrete basins in close proximity to grills & tables.

This lot has also been playtested within an inch of it's life, and there is one small problem with regard to the lake. It is wise to make sure everyone you want to go to another lot is successfully exited from the lake & not trying to get back in before you attempt to have them leave the lot, or the leave action will bork. I don't know why it does this, it's a problem with swimmable lakes. If this is a problem to you, you can remove the swimmableness by deleting the diving board.

You can download the lot here (http://www.4shared.com/file/28683971/e33b5183/Lake_Ettamogah_Camping_Ground.html?).

This looks great. For the swimmable lake, you might want to check out frillen's invisible tile. It hides the edges of tiles as well. Found it here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=253468

These are really beautiful, floopy. As soon as I install BV, I'll be sure to download them.

Thankyou for your kind words. :D

And thanks for the link to the side hiders. That was fairly driving me nuts.

*EDIT*

And now, the new, shiny, invisible-floored swimmable lake (http://www.4shared.com/file/28683971/e33b5183/Lake_Ettamogah_Camping_Ground.html?). I fixed the above link so it goes to the new as well, so re-download if you don't feel like downloading frillen's tiles & adding them yourself. I'd recommend downloading my new & improved lot - it's easier than fucking around with the tiles yourself.

I can't be arsed updating the pics since all I changed is the floor's visibility.

Thanks Floopyboo, those lot are fairly close to New Zildiana too, I'm looking forward to seeing them in the game. The screenshots look very inviting and realistic.

Oh and Felcign? Technically, even slang has correct spelling. It's strewth and you're all over the place like a madwoman's shit.*
