Title: Life Stories Hack Compatibility List.
Post by: SaraMK on 2007 February 17, 01:11:37
I need a place to put this so we can have it all in one place and not all over that (now 4 page long) thread in Podium. If it doesn't belong in Peasantry, move it somewhere. Retardo Land might be a good place.  ::)

I'm still testing a bunch more.

It's definitely a mystery hack. The only post about it that I found also lists the creator as unknown. But hey, it works... I've had it through several EPs. I'll just attach it here.

I was sure it was by XPTL, but his Insim forum does not have it.

No problem. Just wish I could find where I got it. It always makes me uncomfortable not knowing where a hack came from, especially in case it was removed for some reason (though this one definitely works fine).

Spoiled food = yuck. I wish someone would do this for the Chinese food. You get too much of the stuff to eat before it spoils. Or at least I hope we can stuff them in the fridge with Seasons.

If you have "inventories," you can stuff the food in there and the Sims will eat them one serving at a time via Macrotastics.  Especially handy if you have preggo ladies on the lot!

I use Monique's global mod for no spoiled food, and it seems to work for pizza and chinese food, as well. Personally, I prefer the 12-hour version to the 24-hour one, because this seems realistic to me. The food spoils after 12 hours, allowing plenty of time for the sims to either eat it or stick it in their inventory.

Post by: RainbowTigress on 2007 February 17, 20:18:03
I use Monique's hack and it doesn't affect pizza.  I know this for certain because I use the 24 hour one and pizza still spoils in a few hours.  Pescado says that pizza is a separate object from regular food, which is why I've had playable sims as guests at a wedding party eat old pizza they found somewhere and got sick in spite of using "no eat crap."

eat old pizza they found somewhere

LOL

Sounds like my game. My sims manage to find rotten food in the oddest places. Every once in a while I'll see a sim sneaking off (usually right past a fully stocked kitchen) to eat fly-infested food he has hoarded in a corner of the lot. This is exactly why I use hacks to stop spoilage.

Anyone tested my Live.package (townie/NPC names) mod? I couldn't get the game to load with either the Pets or the old version in the downloads folder, but that might have been due to other causes.

What about cheats? Do you use the old ctrl+shift+C, or there is not a cheat window? - Especially money cheats?  :-[

Another question: where do you paste the hacks and the custom contents? In which folder?

All cheats work exactly the same as in Sims 2.

You'll need to create a Downloads folder. C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims™ Life Stories\Downloads

I'm surprised the phone hack works. But no matter how annoying it is, don't turn it off in story mode, there's a bunch of story-related phone calls you'll miss that way.

Many thanks! Found the Electronic Arts folder. And my dear "mother"(lode) is working perfect too...:).

The same Insim I have for NL works here too. So is the Mood Booster from Simslice, and Jerry's Mood/Aspiration painting (decreases or increases selective moods).
Merola Multi-Painting is invisible. So is Merola's Mind Control Mirror.

As I don't remember from where I downloaded Jerry's "Still-Life painting" - I upload it here. I can't live without it.

Because Life Stories does not include those objects.  :-[

Post by: RainbowTigress on 2007 February 18, 16:20:27
I think Merola's stuff uses objects not found int LS.  Also, the cheat window will not work in story mode, but in free play mode and after you finish the story, you can use cheats.  You don't need motherlode for Vincent anyway because he's filthy rich already.  With Riley, I really didn't have a problem since she has a good job and gets more money later, but I won't spoil the story.  :)

I debated listing it. It's hard to tell if something this involved is really working (same reason I didn't list the romancemod, even though nothing blew up in testing) or if a conflict is lurking there just waiting to bite you at the worst possible time.

I don't recommend using ANY hacks in the stories, except ones that clearly can't hurt. Anything that changes relationships, community lots, the phone... would be very bad. It really isn't necessary to use hacks in the stories anyway.

I don't think I removed the globals part when I stuck in the clothing tool , and nothing exploded, but I never did update for Pets, I don't think, so that may be why. (it didn't seem to break, so I didn't replace it ever, I know that won't work for Seasons) And I successfully used it during Vincent's story.

I noticed that the phone hack isn't as needed in the stories anyway, since the phone doesn't ring on and on like in TS2, it stops after 7 rings. And those calling only seemed to be calling to a purpose- no "I haven't talked to you for awhile call me, crap" and then hung up, the townies just called and talked and raised the relationship score.

Post by: RainbowTigress on 2007 February 18, 20:39:56
I had to take the phone hack out when Vincent had to call Naomi before work and she wasn't supposed to answer.  With the phone hack in, it let the call go right through and they talked until I canceled it.  I was also using the phonehack talkmodule.  I removed both, and I was able to satisfy the goal.  That's the first problem I've had with it during Vincent's story.  I didn't use any hacks for Riley's story.

I thought I might have had a hack conflict in the beginning of Vincent's story when I couldn't delete the wedding arch.  I removed all my hacks and I still couldn't.  I couldn't figure out what was going on until I unpaused the game and let it go a tiny bit, then it zoomed me to where the arch was and I was then able to delete it.  :P  I guess I was just too fast for the game.  I noticed a few other things like that, like when I saw all the piles of garbage, I decided to hire a maid, but the option was on the service menu.  Then a few moments later, Vincent says he wants to hire a maid, and then the option is there.  And when his friend gave him the computer, I paused the game and found the desk to put it on, then went back over to Vincent.  When I resumed the game, it zooms over to the desk and says to put the computer on the right side of the desk.  ::)

"unsubscribe" (JMP) works great!

Why can't I call a gardener? A bug, or a new programmed feature?

The taxi and the pool car wait a whole hour before departing, or leaving after they bring the sim at home. Why?

You can't call a gardener because there are no gardeners.  ;) All the plants are "plastic" LOL

Lol, are you serious? Pesonally,  I hate gardeners in the game - it may be a great relief,  if you tell the truth.  :D

Yes, all plants are plastic and don't need to be taken care of. I like this feature because it means I don't have to use a hack to make the plants plastic. :D

Did anyone else notice that if you "View" flowers or shrubs, your sim will tell you that they're pretty?

Well, that product is being discontinued. Turns out that with NL's inventory, it's possible to just take the fresh newspapers, stuff them into your inventory, and when you've acquired 3 in this manner, take them out and bury them as before. Now they will neither expire nor will anyone desire to throw them away, and you'll have 3 current newspapers forever. :P It completely eliminates the need for this hack, so we're discontinuing the product in all post-NL games.

I've been using Smart-Lights since i first put the game in and haven't had any probs with it.... never noticed anything wierd from it.

The lotdebugger unfortunately doesn't regenerate portrature (sp?)... i've always liked that feature....

Changing appearance in the mirror with Riley didn't update her clothing right away either.  It eventually updated, but it didn't change immediately as in TS2 + NL or later.

You can do any amount you want in debug mode, I doubt many would be interested in this hack. We are usually looking for ways to make the sims poorer, it is so easy to make money in this game.

PS Sorry, missed the Life Stories bit. I still suspect there won't be much interest. Although it is the school holidays I suppose.
