TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Need advice on a video card...
|

the drivers are up to date, directly from ATI. what is strange is I had another dell that payed the sims 2 with no problem. The video card I'm using came from the very same computer. this computer is no different except the damn thing completely freezes up when starting sims 2 sometimes.
What really pisses me off is that I'm having to update a computer that by all standards is better than the other computer, and is a newer version (Old was dimension 3000. this is dimension E310 or 3100). Neither, DELL, EA, or ATI want to take responsibility to why this comp is doing this crap except trying to give me a BS statement that the computer isn't made for video games, ignoring me no matter how many times I say, "YOU STUPID FUCKS! I'VE PLAYED SIMS OFB ON A WEAKER DELL THAN THIS AND IT DIDN'T LAG!".

I need a new video card because this piece of crap radeon 9200 obvious isn't working right, as sims 2 is crashing at the spash screen still, after two weeks of trying to find out why.
I've looked around, but all I see if this cards higher version, the radeon 9250. There has to be a better card out there, for less than 150 bucks.
And don't ever buy a DELL if you want a good video card. Next computer I'm building soo I can have AGP.

I have all your hacks JM. I wouldn't touch the game without them. It's just when employees have absolutely nothing to do at the end of the day, and the remaining customers are checking out, the employees wander in front of the cash register. Plus I just thought it would be tidying micro management to make employee who have nothing to do at the moment; to move their ass out of the way.
Also, if anyone ever made this kind of hack, make it so the damn "I'm a moron, I can't find what I'm looking for in a shop that sells ONE THING" goes to a certain spot, instead of finding their way to some far off spot that I'll never see them before they get pissed.

Does anyone else get insanely frustrated when employees when they go ilde and wander in front of the registers, blocking customers who get angry and throw their bags down and thus, causing complete mayhem and makking you want to kill them?
Well I've got a good idea.
Someone needs to make a hack that draws the idle employees to a item, so they quietly stay idle, out of the way of other busy employees (restockers, cash registers, salepeople). just a wild thought...

I'm stupid, but not sstupid enough to not clean out the registry of that crap. I'm not exactly sure if it's worked or not. Lemme start and quit the game a couple times...
Edit: Seven times and not a problem. I think this did the trick. I still found out I need to replace my video card and get more RAM but at least I don't have to reboot my damn comp so often.

Dammit! It freezes up even this way also.
It just seems to bee luck that I get a computer that will run everything else fine, but has a problem with the game I enjoy to play the most.
Edit: I just talked to DELL, and remembered everyone there doesn't even know how to use a ccomputer, and doesn't understand questions even when you repeatedly say, "This computer runs high end games fine! ALL OF THEM! It just spazzes out at times when starting Sims 2 OFB!"

Neither of them are on this computer, but both were when it arrived. But I immediately got rid of both of them.
Alcohol 120% isn't letting me play the game with a virtual drive so I'm going to be screwed to having to restart the comp everytime I want to play the game more than once a day.

So I just got my new computer after being on a craptacular DELL 2350 since march when a tornado decided my other comp needed to take a view of the roof before it got smashed. This comp runs OFB fine, except for it does something slightly annoying...
the first time I load the game after a reboot of the system, everything is fine. I can play for as long as I want and quit without any problem.
the second time though... the computer shows the OFB on the screen and the CD starts reading the disk, but after about three seconds the computer completely freezes up and I have to do a hard reboot. nothing can stop this from happening it seems. Even having task manager open doesn't help, because it freezes too...
I'm kinda stumped here and while you ponder I'll be make a virtual drive and CD image and seeing if that works any differently.
Computer specs
Dell E310
pentium 4 HT 2.8ghz 1mb cache 512DDR RAM 544mhz 80 GB hard drive visiontek radeon 9200 256mb
the DVD drive is a 48XDVD/PC

You couldn't get me into the BBS for a million bucks. I mean, I'm stupid, but they are stupid with a side of *retarded child waving* and a bit of *autism child staring blankly* all mixed together to become... the typical BBS'er.
Other than patches, no sims 2 site for me... noooo... *shudders*

Okay, the owner of the store has those options, but none of the other controllable have it. That's pretty damn useless if only the owner can use those abilities.

More things that annoy me, but aren't a glitch:
1. Customers get into a fight/shove match/argument/ANY negative react with each other, and the owner loses business loyalty for both sims.
2. Customer loses loyalty because they didn't want you to try to sell them something? (this may not bother others, but we've got a program where I live that if you go into a store, expect to be asked if you need help, and expect to be told to LEAVE if you want to be a jackass to the person trying to help)
3.Customers get angry when "May I help you?" is performed. 4. Customers complaining about the stupidest things! I've had customers complain about the maid, paper boy, newspaper being on the ground, repairman being electricuted. Baby being born in their presense, children being in the store, toddler playing with toy. I could go on forever with this.
Things that are glitches:
1. things that are created (make food/toys/flowers/ect) dissapears after created and money is lost.
2. "May I help you?" confused morons, act like morons right in front of the register, making other PAYING customers angry, and throwing their bags down, resulting in loss of customer loyalty.
3. Assign is screwed up. Employee trying to sell something will continue to do so, even though the customer wants them to leave them alone, until the customers gets pissed, complains, then leaves.
Just another thing not related. The sooner someone makes a hack so a emplyees build just what you need (and maybe a couple extra of each item), instead of making fifty of one item, while the rest of the store inventory goes empty, the better!

I mean the perks. Like for perception, I've reached level three, but none of them show up whether I look through the commands of the store owner, family of owner, or the commands when clicking on a customer. The same with motivation, it's level 2 and I should have perk up and under, but they're no where to be found.
lol, and stop trying to lecture someone that's stupid. They usually forget about what you said a couple seconds later.

When a shop gains rank, you can gain levels on the options. One helps you be able to sell to customers better with a set of commands that as far as I can tell, are no where in the game. Then again, I'm stupid, and just haven't found how to bring up those commands?

For some reason, my sims refuse to put the baby in the crib now. I have to quere them to do so, and a lot of time they'll go take the baby from the crib, so they can put it back on the floor.

|

Okay, this'll be the unofficial thread of posting annoyances and glitches.
Things in OFB that annoy me, but aren't because of a glitch: 1. Children now leave at 6 P.M. when they come over to visit. 2. Teen/adults/elder all have a obsessive fascination with dancing with children (Though I find this somewhat cute, but still annoying). 3. Building materials do not automatically go to the shelf, instead you must have them restocked. This pisses off customers because the restocker gets in the way.
Things that annoy me because they are glitches: 1. Toddler will not turn around if sim wants to pick him/her up, resulting in querie destruction, and it being very difficult to pick up tollders in a small room.
2. Customers have a negative response, no mattter what, for certain sims. Maxing out -everything- (including interest) still results in the same negative results.
3. Customers have a obsession with toys (FIRE TRUCKS), and ignore everything else in the store.
4. Inge's noautonomous fridge doesn't work! (I know this doesn't count, but damn, you really miss that hack once your sims start burning, I mean COOKING for themselves again, to your horror.
It's 3 in the morning. I'll think of somemore later.
NEXT!

A major bug I'm seeing is the customers come to the shop, but buy NOTHING! they just sit around talking to each other, and nothing is ever sold. I tried that mind control thing which makes them pay to come and shop, and they still wouldn't shop. wtf.
We are EA's bitches. They know we'll keep coming back for more, as long as our pimp treats us right after they beat us half to death.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why is Ghost upset?
|

I've been working on figuring out ghost actions and why they do it. I'm starting to wonder if aspiration and personality effect how the sim will act after death. I notice knowledge sims seem to haunt the least after they die, but those popularity sims seems to come out every night and party.
I do know that enviroment around the tombstone has a effect on how often they haunt, and that dead sims can become attatched to a object that was bought after their death, so having a first generation ghost get pissed because his eight generation relative sold a bed that bought long after the dead sim passed on, is possible.
