Title: Is FFS worth every penny?
Post by: Little Dragonbaby on 2006 June 09, 02:38:04
I've just had FFS for somes days. I bought it at 19.99 thru gamespot.
But I didn't find anything special after installation except for some clothes and decorations, wallpapers,.. which I could download from mod sites.

The most expectation for an EP is something abt gameplay, but nothing.
My idea is FFS is so expensive.

Maxis called it a stuff pack, not an expansion...so there wasn't anything added to gameplay, just clothing and decor items

FF is not an EP. It's also definitely not worth $20; I paid $20 for OFB. ($25 at Target minus the $5 Target gift card that was included with it = $20.)

There are probably people who would tell you that it isn't even worth A penny.

While I think FFS is a huge waste of money I've recently noticed that there are 3 Barenaked Ladies songs included with the Pack.

And really who doesn't love a Barenaked Lady :P

Like I said, I bought it at my local Target store. They're not selling it for $25 with a $5 gift card NOW, since I bought it during the week it was released; I figured $20 was as good a deal as I was going to get anytime soon.

Can't find it that low anywhere right at the moment, but I did find a site selling FF for $13.95 and OFB for $23.95 on Froogle.

It is worth every penny I spent on it.

It is worth every penny I spent on it.
That must mean it's an improvement over the Holiday pack, which I doubt, which I got for the same price, and it DEFINITELY WASN'T WORTH IT.

Hell, sammonroe, you did not even spend one penny on it, that is why you think it is totally worth it.

FFS is overpriced. At $9,99 it would be considerable perhaps, but not at $19,99.

There are some nice things in there such as new trees and the carousel (strangely hidden, see MTS2 for Numenor's "lost and found"), but I would not recommend it at full price to anyone.

Now if it were $9,99 it might be nice for people without NL and OFB, as FFS adds the neighbourhood view and other "new" features.

Well, shoot.  "One Week" sounds like its sung in Simlish already.

And come to think of it I think that song is already in my music station folder.   :P

Nope, its just as shitty as the holiday pack. Worth every penny I SPENT on it.

The Holiday Pack was better in many ways: it didn't pretend to be an expansion (no code conflicts), added new NPCs, new party types, new interactions...

What does FFS offer? A codebase which looks like it was branched off OFB pre-patch, NO new interactions or features unique to it (all FFS adds is already in OFB), so basically it's just clothing and objects, and the coolest features (new trees!) are actually not fully implemented (Numenor's "lost and found"s)

Wal-Mart is selling it for $20.  I looked at it.  Then stuck it back on the shelf and moved on.

When I installed the thing, I removed it after 30 minutes.  I rarely ever use children, so most of the stuff in the expansion doesn't appeal to me.  Also, I hate the fact that FFS labels the bootscreen.

The thing installs exactly like an expansion, has folders like an expansion, and adds features like an expansion(Transparent to anyone with NL and UNI).  It must be an expansion.

Without any of the stuff that makes an expansion worth having. I refuse to put FFS in my game. Even if I could get it for free (and everyone knows we can), I still wouldn't put it in my game. The screenshots of the actual stuff in the pack are underwhelming, to say the least.

When they had a survey asking about the booster pack idea, I thought it sounded good.  That's because I thought when they said new items, they meant new items.  They just meant different looking ones.  Now, if this pack had a slide and some toys for the pool, that would bump up its value considerably.  If the silly costumes came with a new "costume party" interaction, it might be worth something. I like the look of some of the decorations, but it would have to be awfully cheap for me to buy it if that's all I like.

I miss the costume trunk. Why do we have a sports party instead of a costume party? They don't even do anything for the sports party, it's exactly the same!

The sports party is different *rolls eyes* They grab your chips and plonk their bums on your sofas and start cheering.

Raiders of the Lost Fridge happens at ANY party. Of course, it's extremely bad for both you and them, which is why it should be prevented through careful house design.

FFS is $15.98 at Amazon right now. I'd be somewhat tempted because I like the group BNL and a couple of the items but I'm considering waiting to see if the stuff pack drops to $10.

Costume trunk and the mechanical bull and dance cages....

The best Sims items EVER. And why have we not seen these in a Sims 2 EP?

Not to mention the stripper cake was funny as hell. Why get angry if you were the one who bought the cake for your husband? Silly sims. Tricks are for kids.

It's the wonderful logic of less-than-fully-scripted sim reactions.

Is anyone else upset at the lack of new Maxis careers?

We need a Livin' Large EP. Screw the pets, I want new careers with new career rewards.

Title: Re: Is FFS worth every penny?
Post by: cabelle on 2006 June 12, 20:55:30
We definitely need more career tracks.

Title: Re: Is FFS worth every penny?

I would actually get a donatiion pack that had 5 or so careers with LTWs and reward objects.  However, that'll never happen and they'll just keep doing retextures for the thing forever.

5 Careers were added last time in Unleashed, maybe they'll do the same thing again for Unleashed 2?  I bet if they did though, they would require pet ownership for those careers, and we still won't get good ones.

We need an education career track, the fame and music careers back.

Also, why didn't we get some nice vampire friendly careers in NL?

Or a vampire hunter career for that matter?

I can understand OFB not coming with new careers, that one was about working at HOME so new careers would not of made sense.

I feel like I overspent to get FFS, but eh... I don't regret getting it. I really like the BNL and other songs that were added to the radio stations, and having some new furniture to decorate with is always nifty. Yeah, I know I can download furniture, but I always get worried about the game going kaboom (I seem to have bad luck when I download cc).

When I read this I thought *but I have those careers in my game* then realised I have a load of hacked career options  :-[

The vampire hunter career is excellent and the sim ends up as the GR.

The last 2 packs were not what was expected - more kids play things like the jungle gym from TS1 and pool accessories (not just a dumbass rubber ring swimming aid) and more interactions between kids would have been better.

I miss the costume trunk.

Yeah - I mean what's with giving your sims matching outfits and nowhere to wear them?  If you're going to look like the von trapp family when maria made them clothes out of curtains there should at least be bicycle riding  ::)

I highly suggest the Camarilla Vampire Career track from MTS2 for those who like vamp careers. I found it to be much better written and more logical than the others on MST2. (With the first tier being INSANELY hard to get out of, but that makes sense for a newborn vamp).

I'm trying out the vampire hunter career right now. I'm tempted to write my own for my Anita Blake sim. But the new SimPe made the FAQ for writing careers at MST2 worthless. =p

The only thing I like is the stepping stone "rug".
Some of the other items are not bad, but I'd be happier if they didn't treat it like an expasion.

I'm sure I'll get FFS eventually. I might even pay for it. But it'll probably be when it's on clearance either on the EA website or target or walmart. I remember I got the Holiday Party Pack for 9.99 from the EA Website.

To be honest, I really haven't used practically any of the new stuff in FFP.

The best thing about it is the three new songs. But that alone is not worth $19.99.
