26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graves and Cemetery Issues on: 2006 April 13, 12:03:41
Well, I've found a thread on TSR dealing with this issue.  It seems that a lot of people are having this problem.  So the cemetery bugginess has returned with a vengeance with either OFB or the latest patch.

Yet again thanks Maxis.

Boy, such drama around here these days!  I'm very glad we're back to normal now.

I've got a really irritating problem which has never happened to my game before.  I went on a townie killing spree using the teleporter and the flamingo of doom to populate my new community cemetery in my new neighbourhood.  I sent two graves there, but when I went to the lot in build/buy mode, no graves showed up on the pavement.   Weird.  So then I kill another townie and get the relevant Sim to transport the grave to the lot in her inventory.  That all worked fine, I placed the grave OK.  But the two previous graves showed up by the phone in live mode. When I went back in in buy mode to rearrange them, none of the graves showed up.

What's with this?  I never had any problems with community cemeteries before OFB.  Did this expansion break community graveyards as well as community weddings?  Or does it have something to do with the flamingo of doom, which is a new download?

Ooooo, so the altar works?  Marvellous!

*Runs off to download*.

I'm with you Motoki.  I too think the chair is buggy and not designed very well.  I hope someone more awesome than the Maxis folks will come up with some sort of fix.

I seem to be having a problem with weddings.  I was pretty pissed off when I realised that community lot weddings ain't going to happen any more, so last night I threw a normal house wedding party for an engaged couple I have.  Everything went fine until they got into the honeymoon limo.  It just stayed put and they didn't come out.  In the end I had to delete the limo.  Then I went into another lot and held another wedding party for another couple.  Exact same thing happened.

I've deleted a uniform and had no trouble.

I don't ever save while on community lots (business or otherwise), though - wonder if that is the key...

Nope.  I never save on community lots either and my business disappeared anyway when I deleted a uniform.

Thanks for the info!

Well, I realise that the store is paying!  I'm not talking about going through the wholesale buying system through the business tracker. What I'm asking is if an employee is assigned to restock rather than the business owner does he get the rising wholesale discounts associated with the perk?

I may well be being dense here, but I thought this was a reasonable enough question...
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Perks on: 2006 March 08, 11:59:33
How do these bloody perks work exactly?  I know that you can pass them on to household members, but can you also pass them on to employees?  I can't seem to find any options for doing so.

I'm particularly wondering about the wholesale discount set of perks.  If you go down that route, is it only the playable business owner who can restock and get the discount, or does an employee who you've assigned to restock get the discount too?  I suspect not, which sucks and makes no sense.  Can anyone confirm?

You should take a look at Crammyboys' hack then, it does help having less fight on community lots.  You will need "less autonamous fight" and if you wish you can also add "no force watch fight", both are OFB compatible.

Thanks!  I'll check it out.

Re the marriage on community lot issue, I've always been able to set up lots for this with no problem.  Even with Nightlife.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Annoying jestures of CAS sims in OFB on: 2006 March 06, 15:12:08
Gali, I have both and have had no problems.
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Post problems you've noticed, on: 2006 March 06, 11:21:33
Well, I'm enjoying OFB so far, but it's very buggy (big surprise, there!). I had the community lot bug last night.  I saved while my Sim was still at her flower shop and when I went back in she was stuck there.  Grr.  Luckily, I'd just started a new neighbourhood, so just deleted the whole thing and will start again tonight.  I can't stand waiting around for the stupid taxis, though, so I'm gonna have my sims drive to work and just not save until they're home again.

One thing I've noticed that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet is that you can no longer get married on community lots.  Has anyone else had this?  I spent ages building an awesome chapel with some of the cool new roof tools, turned it into a residential lot to place the arch and then turned it back again in the usual way.  Sent a couple of engaged sims over there and the arch is not selectable.  Really annoying.

Oh, and how could I forget the nightmare that is the CONSTANT fighting in my shops.  One of my businesses lost a rank yesterday because stupid Goopy and Kellerman couldn't stop beating the crap out of each other long enough for me to move them on.  I ask you, is this an appropriate way to behave in a toy shop?  I think not.  I've given them a short period of grace while I learn the ropes, but soon the killing will commence if they don't learn to control themselves.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Well. Maybe I'll keep Mr. Big around after all. on: 2006 February 15, 13:23:21
I had Mr Big and the Diva married in one of my abandoned neighbourhoods.  They lived in a huge gothic-style house on top of a hill and I had quite a bit of fun with them.  They're both nasty enough to be highly entertaining and they were the scourge of my neighbourhood. Be warned, though, they produce hideous children.  Like 'drown 'em in the pool as soon as they're old enough' hideous.

You can do that now with the mind-control mirror.  Problem is there's only so much some make-up and a new hairdo can do!
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Making my own townies/downtownies on: 2006 January 19, 16:41:13
Fantastic!  Thank you so much!

Why doesn't the person release it to share?  I don't remember this.   Or was this something I promised to do ages ago?

Yeah, it's quite an old thread (from November).  You said you'd update your shrub and credit him/her.Grin

I'm not bothered about it, though, as long as I'm not going to mess up my game.  I've had no problem with phoning them. The playable sim I made to test all this yesterday met a bunch of my new townies and phoned one or two of them for a date.

On Inge's forums there's a modified version of the shrub which also allows Sims to be put in the downtownie pool. Downtownies are just another "family" like townies and NPCs are.

Hmm.  Ok, I've been to the forum and saw the thread you meant.  There's no actual modified shrub as the person who made it made it for his own use only. But it would seem that there are different 'pools' of Sims, as you say, and my method would only add sims to the townie pool, not the downtownie pool. Both townies and downtownies I created were showing up in community and downtown lots, but that's always been the case in my game so I didn't think anything of it.

Does it matter that I'm adding sims to just one pool? Is it going to mess up my game?
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Making my own townies/downtownies on: 2006 January 19, 10:18:25
Well, I tried it out last night and it worked a treat.  It seems that Radiophonic was right and it really is that simple.

I now have a normal neighbourhood which is on its way to being populated by normal people rather than rejects from the Planet of the Apes.  Cheesy
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Making my own townies/downtownies on: 2006 January 18, 14:39:07
That's a great help, and speedy too!  Thanks!  No more ugly townies - what joy!

Now if somebody could help out with the downtownie issue that would be great.  I don't know what the NPC maker is, but will do a search for it now.  Only thing is that I don't have SIMPE - I'm too much of a wimp to mess around with that.
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Making my own townies/downtownies on: 2006 January 18, 14:24:57
I'm planning on starting a brand new neighbourhood, attaching a university and a downtown, deleting all characters and creating my own townies/downtownies, so I can be spared the horror of having to gaze upon the hideous visages of the Maxis-made folk.  I've done a search here, read a good few threads and have gathered that I need  the notownieregen and nodormieregen hacks, plus Inge's teleporter shrub.

Could someone please clarify a couple of things for me?  Say I go into the neighbourhood itself, make a handful of sims and send them out to be townies, will they also be my downtownies?  Or do I need to go into the downtown area and set up the teleporter shrub in a house there to create another set of sims that will serve as downtownies?

Also, when I create these townies, will they have a random set of skills and jobs assigned to them?  Or do I need to do that myself with the multi-mirror and other hacks? And what about money?  Do I need to give them an amount, or does the game generate this randomly should they ever move in with a playable character?

Is there anything else I should do/download?

I'd really appreciate some help!
