101  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Good, the Bad, and the Randomly @Toaded on: 2009 June 08, 10:25:18
Eventually I get play and 'lo behold my femme fatale has adopted a child. WTF? For a commitment phobic, flirty, mean, lucky socialite to ring up and actually want a child is so unbelievably unrealistic it was criminal.  Plus I don't really like the idea of something so major to be left to half cooked AI. Give me the big decisions and continue with the banality of the game please (i.e skill building, meeting friends, etc).

The spontaneous spawning has been discussed extensively already. I recommend the awesomemod (Armoire of Invincibility) to prevent surprise babies.
102  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Neurotics - easist to keep happy? on: 2009 June 07, 07:32:04
My sim is a neurotic/loner combo, and since she has no job (writer), it's really easy to keep her happy. She has a constant solitude buff, freaking out puts her into a happy place, and as long as I keep one slot free for incoming "clean/repair whatever" wants, there's a nearly constant stream of LTH points. As for the "worry about" debuffs - you can turn them into peace of mind (?) buffs by simply checking the object in question. Not that my sim worries that much anyway - she practicely lives on inventory stuff, so she rarely ever uses the stove or sink.
103  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2009 May 13, 11:54:45
This might sound like a really daft question, but if I run Numenor's Anygamestarter with different configs, do I need to have no-cd's for all the expansions/stuff packs .exes? I'm guessing yes, but I need confirmation before I do it.
Yes. You'll be asked to insert the correct "original" game CD/DVD for the latest EP in the respective AnyGame (e.g. if you have an AG up to BV, it wants the BV CD/DVD).
104  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can someone decipher this Error Report for me? - SOLVED - on: 2009 May 09, 10:00:52
That Jacques grandma from Bluewater always caused that error for me until I got empty templates, etc. Multiple neighborhoods. Multiple Windows accounts. Clean or hacked games.
Denise Jacquet can be fixed with the lot debugger. Just make her selectable, choose "Fix... Dead Romances". No more error messages. This has worked for me in several neighborhoods.
105  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2009 May 01, 09:03:46
So now I am wondering because she had done this does she have Securerom on her pc now?
SecuROM installs itself as soon as the original exe that comes with it (in this case, the M&G exe) is run. So if she played M&G already, then yes. If she just installed it without playing afterwards, then no.
Quote
I was also looking for a new nocd patch for M&G and was not able to find one that was workable. I have worked with them in the past and would like to stick with them jsut cant find one.
There is one which works just fine on gamecopyworld. The link to GCW must be in this thread somewhere, or google.
106  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: But I don't HAVE Double Deluxe! WTF? on: 2009 March 13, 09:26:26
I definitely have those outfits and I have the jukebox. This might be a clue!  Cheesy
The DD screen isn't caused by those outfits (or at least, not only) - I got it, too, after installing M&G (all EPs and SPs, nothing arred, no DD content).
107  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Bathroom Controller: In Soviet Russia, Bathroom Uses You! on: 2009 March 11, 09:20:04
Why not?  If they try to enter the bathroom on their own, they must be standing around idle with no commands in their queues.  They might as well make themselves useful.   Tongue
Or, more likely, they've been forgotten and are now doing flappish, annoying things to obstruct things for other sims.

Or they've run out of things to do for a second while "macro... garden"ing. I usually don't forget sims, because they tend to do things I hate when left alone.
108  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Bathroom Controller: In Soviet Russia, Bathroom Uses You! on: 2009 March 10, 09:59:02
I only ask because I have noticed that sims that wander into the bathroom to autonomously tub-pirate are not thrown out.
Strange - in my game, they are. As for the cleaning: I wouldn't mind them cleaning the terlet after using it, just like they unclog it if necessary. But I certainly wouldn't want them to be allowed to enter the bathrooms just to clean (unless user or macro directed).
109  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Macro Control: Macrotastics on: 2009 March 07, 12:21:22
Would it be possible to take novel calls into account for "Skillinate... Creativity"? I had a sim skill creativity on the computer, and when he finished the novel, he made a friends call to raise his social (cell phone). This took so long, that the normal phone stopped ringing, so he didn't get the royalties. Since the skillinator never lets a motive get so low that it becomes really critical, these short calls wouldn't do any harm, I guess?
110  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about Tombstones and Resurrection on: 2009 March 06, 12:17:06
The tombstone can be on a different lot --
Ah, I didn't know that (obviously Cheesy) - thanks!
111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Question about Tombstones and Resurrection on: 2009 March 06, 11:36:43
I had a residential lot in downtown A with 8 sims. Several sims died, the tombstones were moved to a community lot in downtown B (both downtowns subhoods of the same main 'hood, of course). The surviving sims moved out.
Now I want one of the dead sims to become a zombie. My question is, how to do this? I already know who will earn the bone phone and who will make the call (a former friend of the zombie-to-be), but afaik, I need the tombstone on the lot from where the call is made.
So what's the best method to get phone and tombstone together? I thought about buying the cemetery lot and putting the bone phone there, but it would be much more convenient to somehow conjure the tombstone at home, of course. Is there a way to do so without causing a BFBVFS (from what I know, carrying tombstones in inventory is a VBT)?
112  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Cpt. Dregg's Pirate Hat as Accessory on: 2009 February 19, 15:18:10
The original tricorn is a hidden BV hairstyle used by the Cpt. Edward Dregg NPC. I've always wanted it as an accessory, but because nobody has converted it so far (or because I fail at Google), I had to do it myself.

This is my first accessory ever, so it might need some testing (it works fine in my game, though). In order to keep the file size small, I killed as many resources as possible and also used the 256x256 texture, so the skull and bones are a bit blurry.

- Available for YAs, adults and elders, male and female
- Does not show up as useless glasses duplicate for teens and younger
- Widened crown, so it can be used with some of the more voluminous hairstyles. Brim unaltered.
- Same custom bin as Zoi's Tricorn, so they can be exchanged, but not worn together (for obvious reasons)

Note: The (default) brow sticking through the (EAxis) hair in the picture is normal EAxis glitchiness unrelated to the accessory.
113  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 L&P on: 2009 February 13, 09:31:39
Speaking of TS3 look what the CC creators made.

[THING pic]

DEAR FUCKING GOD WTF IS THAT THING!

I think that the features are cartoonish enough to fit the waxy, glass-eyed look of TS3, which IMHO makes it way less frightening and yucky than the supposedly "realistic" sims I've seen so far.
114  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 L&P on: 2009 February 08, 10:29:10
This is an interesting idea, but ... does it only affect the baby's behavior as a baby?  I do not want babies whose personality for their WHOLE LIVES is entirely determined by mom's mood while pregnant.  I would have a lot of bland, boring, well-behaved sims.
From what I've read, bad mood during pregnancies will push the kids' traits to "evil", but I hope there will be other ways to get mean sims, like neglecting them during childhood or just encouraging them.
As for the pee obsession: One of the achievement boni (?) is called "iron bladder" - I think there must be a reason why such a bonus even exists.
115  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims can't bird watch on one residential lot on: 2009 February 08, 09:50:14
Do you have any trees on the lot? I believe no trees = no birds.
Unrelated - I had sims watch birds on lots that had not one single green spot.
116  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Broken Stoves on: 2009 January 26, 09:34:14
You could also use the Stuck Object Remover.
117  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2009 January 21, 11:26:43
I will look into Autonomy Control -- I assume that's part of macrotastics?

No, Autonomy Control (aka "The One Shiny") is a stand-alone hack, to be found in The Armory.

Quote
For the other, I will try cancelling out "At Work" the next time I run a Family Sim parent. Did you notice they will do this nonsense even if they have no children? They may even do this if they live alone, but I can't remember.

I'm pretty sure family sims don't do the dance when living alone, but having / not having children doesn't seem to have an influence on it. Then again, I don't have much experience with working family sims - the only playable ones with jobs I have in my game are Cassandra Goth and a former cow mascot, both of which I rarely play.
118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2009 January 20, 10:10:19
One is the tendency of Sims to put themselves to bed -- and very quickly too! -- when their energy bar is at maybe 30%.

I've used JM's Autonomy Control to proscribe the autonomous use of beds globally, which works wonders. I mean, wtf? I'm perfectly capable of putting my sims to bed myself, tyvm.

Another annoyance is this "cuddle in bed" bullshit, and EAxis did everything to force this oh-so-cute feature on players. Now, sims sleep after woohoo even with their energy at about 95%, so you have to wake them and wait for them to undock (which takes ages, because they need to cuddle). Also, you can no longer wake one of them without waking the other (in case this one has slept in already), so they can cuddle again before getting up. Arrrgghh!

Now, double beds are only used for procreation purposes in my game, but if it takes three or four attempts for the sims to succeed, it's still unnerving.

Now that one problem is solved and a second probably will be shortly, I'll add one more.  Has the stupid Family Sim song and dance upon returning from work been squashed yet?

I don't know of a hack to stop it (I'd love one, too), but you can stomp the family sim dance by cancelling the "at work" action as soon as they get home (before they get out of the car).
119  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Extracting the game MP3's on: 2009 January 09, 19:58:50
sloppyhousewife:
I think that you can replace the sims sounds, but there are alot of them and  I dont suggest you messing up the sims sounds, unless you backup the original files.
But messing with game files is fun!! Just kidding - thanks for the warning. I've been planning to get rid of annoying sounds forever (like I did with awful portraits), I just haven't got around to finally trying it and thought that the extracted files would have some weird file format. It was a pleasant surprise to read that they're just MP3s Smiley.
120  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Comm lot borkage and a question... on: 2009 January 09, 17:21:56
The question did not ask how, only if it was possible to learn witchery from other playables.  Your answer did not address the question accurately, as the OP wishes to know if a playable can learn from other playables, not be forced into becoming a witch by another playable casting a spell on them.

Well, yeah, a simple "yes" addresses an "is it option A or is it option B" question much more accurate, that's true.

@ LordBanxter to clarify:
You can't ask playables to "Teach me the whatever way" like you can ask the head witches. But in case you just wanted to know if sims can become witches/warlocks without having to hunt down a head witch: Yes. At a certain level of witchery, playables learn the necessary spell to turn other sims into witches/warlocks.

ETA: LordBanxter's sig = LOL
121  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Extracting the game MP3's on: 2009 January 09, 16:22:01
The folder hold files like Voice1, Voice2 and on, and Misc and more, do not touch these, you dont want the sim sounds,
Heh. Incidentally, I was about to ask for a way to extract certain sim sounds, because I don't want them (I need to identify them before I can overwrite them) Cheesy. Can't wait to try your tutorial out.
122  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Comm lot borkage and a question... on: 2009 January 09, 10:07:00
Yes.
How very helpful. Roll Eyes

LordBanxter, if your playable witches/warlocks reach a certain magic level, they learn a spell to turn other sims into witches/warlocks as well.

123  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Aquariums Create Community Dummies on: 2009 January 07, 11:47:37
I wouldn't mind the empty CL aquariums if the sims didn't stock them autonomously Angry - this will go in my "vital hacks" folder.
124  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: The One Shiny: Autonomy Control on: 2009 January 07, 11:24:35
If you proscribe an object, it will not say how MANY objects have been banned, this is meaningless. You must have misunderstood the message.
Hm, the message looked rather unmistakable to me. I'll try again today to provide a screenshot.

ETA: You are right, of course. The message says '"Colonial Ironwood Bed"- category (4) items have been proscribed', and I thought of the "4" as the number of items, not the category number.

Quote
A proscribed object will not be autonomously used under ANY condition.
I referred to your answer here:

Also, be sure that the action is occurring through the autonomous selection and not the Motive Helper "energy desperation" action. That is a seperate thing that operates differently.
I understood that a Motive Helper "[motive] desperation" action is (although not user/macro directed) not to be regarded as an autonomous action and thus will not be stomped. If that's not the case, so much the better.
125  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: The One Shiny: Autonomy Control on: 2009 January 07, 10:21:23
Some questions regarding proscribing beds:

1. I proscribed beds globally for my current neighborhood and got the message, that 4 objects had been banned, although there are only 2 double beds in the 'hood. Are the two sides of a double bed regarded as two objects? It seems logical, but I'd rather make sure.

2. If I understood correctly, proscribed objects will only be used autonomously when a certain motive becomes critical. Will this stomp the "It's 10 p.m., so I have to go to bed although my energy bar is at about 60%" nonsense and send sims to bed only when they're about to keel over?

3. When new objects of an already banned type are placed - will they automatically be included in the respective proscription, or do I have to renew it?
