Title: Weird with a capital We... (pets/college/greek problem)
Post by: floopyboo on 2006 November 10, 14:35:05
I'm playing the Pleasant sisters at college at the moment & trying to get them to found a greek house. (playing the la fiesta uni neighbourhood) This is really weird. When Lilith calls to apply for charter, she just hangs up, but when Angela calls, she gets the service directory.

Any help, advice, mockery or empathy? Is this my personal incarnation of the brokeness of the expansion pack?

Do you have Pets installed? If so, have you checked your hacks for Pets compatibility?
Phone mods in particular will not work in Pets if not updated.

That would be why I included the word "pets" in the title.

I have no phone funkiness. I walk alone.

Well, Angela is better with people ;)

On a more serious note, have you tried forcing an error on Lilith? Maybe she's glitched somewhere.

I just started a Greek house yesterday with no glitches and I have both phonehack and autoyak.  Check your non-awesome hacks!

Does this mean you have no hacks in your game?  If this is the case, I'd say go with the suggestion to force an error on either the sim or on the phone, in case they are glitched somehow.

Or check your downloads with the Clean Installer to be sure you haven't picked up a hack without your knowledge.  Most commonly occurring when downloading lots.

I don't know if this cancelled out an error or what the hell, but I had a Sim who couldn't call services. I deleted the phone and put in a new one. Deleting objects is usually the first thing I do if i have a problem, because it's so simple. I move on from there. For my game, it works sometimes.

Wow, I know I speak my own language here, but one would think that the ability to pick up upon key phrases would be universal in language comprehension  in any country.

Thanks. That was the first thing I tried too, with no success. My guess is that it's related to the new phones, but I wouldn't actually know. I'm pretty sure I saw something like this over in the stupid box, but it can be hard to read through all that crap to find the actual information (she says despite the above examples of her own unique way of communicating).

In the end, I figured it wasn't worth the drama & moved the girls into a dorm. Now having lots of fun with Lilith & Don. ;)

Ah, I wondered, because you don't sound like a dingbat. Sometimes I forget the really obvious stuff and I love people like Ness who come in and spell it out for me and I get the big DUUUH.

Good luck anyway. I am not anal retentive enough to fix every single little problem, so I'll sometimes abandon ship on things too.

Indeed. Sometimes it's just not worth the stress.

My sincerest apologies. I said i didn't have any phone things because I normally don't bother with them - they don't interest me at all, but I just checked in my MATY pets folder & there it was... phonehack (pets version). I took it out & suddenly my girls are going greek.

Word to the wise - this one needs assistance with pets.

Word to the wise -- double-posting is bad, m'kay?

Sure hon, and trolling threads looking for "double posts" which are actually two separate posts addressed to two separate people just makes you a nice big arsehat. Love ya!

Have you noticed that there is a modify button?  Terribly easy to combine the two into one post...  what ever the reason, it's still double posting, and it's still bad, m'kay?

If you bothered to not be a moron and paid attention to the threads here, you'd know that double-posting is so very not liked here.  It pays to figure out the 'rules of the road' in a new forum when you join.

And I was at least polite.  Since you choose not to respond in the same way, go pound salt....

floopyboo, when you reply to (or quote) a post, all the other posts(depending on number of posts) show up below with a "insert quote" option. (on the right side) Very handy when you wish to reply to more then one post.

I thought I would mention it since I know it took me ages to notice that option *laughs*

Thanks, Sleepycat, for the hint.  I had always wondered how people quoted 2 separate posts.  And I probably never would have figured out how to do it.
