326  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about SimPE and Sim altering on: 2007 May 13, 00:08:33
Is that possible to do if you don't have a package file or an exported file at all? Remember, I'm asking if it's possible to change their physical appearance using only the five lines of DNA I displayed earlier.

I'm starting to think it's not possible to do this without having to install a package file. I know the inherited DNA can be altered, but the physical appearance may not be able to. Sad I'm assuming merely going into the game and having said Sim use Change Appearance on a mirror wouldn't do squat. *goes to confirm*

ETA: As expected, using the mirror will only make the eye, hair and skintone change, not the facial features.
327  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about SimPE and Sim altering on: 2007 May 12, 23:19:40
Please pardon my unawesomeness, but how do I swap the file?  Embarrassed I've opened up the character file in SimPE, and I've selected the LXNR file. What view would I go to: Package, resource, wrapper, Plugin view or Hex?
328  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about SimPE and Sim altering on: 2007 May 12, 22:51:52
Is it possible to replace the LXNR (  Huh ) using that information?

If anyone's wondering why the hell I'm asking a question like this, I was thinking that if there were a way to 'fix' an updated Self Sim simply by editing the one currently in the game by using SimPE to change the DNA and appearance without having to install another package file.
329  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about SimPE and Sim altering on: 2007 May 12, 22:35:26
Ahhh, I see. But you do know what I'm asking, right? I'm wondering if it's possible to alter an NPC's appearance as well as DNA with only the DNA information. I'm guessing this is a no?

Example:

Person A has an NPC they wish to change: Kaylynn. Person A then spots a Sim that they'd rather Kaylynn look like (let's say Betty) and they request the creator to post Betty's DNA info. The creator does so. Can person A manually change Kaylynn's physical appearance without a package file using only the DNA info that looks something like this:

330  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about SimPE and Sim altering on: 2007 May 12, 21:08:52
Does this alternate Sim Surgery tool require there to be a physical copy of the Sim you want the existing one to look like? Because I'm wondering if it's possible to change their appearance without having to install an actual Sim to clone their appearance from.

ETA: I read Theo's thread and it appears his mod does require a physical copy of the Sim template. Sad Maybe he'd be the one to ask about something like this, though.
331  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Question about SimPE and Sim altering on: 2007 May 12, 20:19:42
I know, I know, I should ask this at the SimPE forum, but I can never seem to get questions answered there at all. I was hoping the smart folks here would be able to help me out.

I was wondering if it were possible to alter the appearance and DNA of an existing Sim by using the DNA info for a Sim that hasn't been installed in your game. I'm fairly certain the DNA can be changed easily enough (and I know how to do this), but I'm wondering how it would be possible to alter a Sim's physical appearance without using Sim Surgery (if it even is possible). Any ideas?
332  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2007 May 08, 05:34:22
Could someone kindly direct me to a step-by-step tutorial on how to completely delete a Sim from the game? I've done this twice now and fucked up the entire neighborhood's residents both times. Sad
333  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: RandomStuff: Configurable "dice rolling" program on: 2007 May 06, 19:35:16
I suppose if one really wanted to get complicated, they could open up the SimDNA of their townies and manually add a recessive gene for red and blonde hair (or whatever). They'd simply have to add the following code into the 'recessive hair' line:

Red hair:
00000004-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Blonde hair:
00000003-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

If you wanted it, the numbers for brown and black:
Brown hair:
00000002-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Black Hair:
00000001-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
334  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: RandomStuff: Configurable "dice rolling" program on: 2007 May 03, 22:57:46
I was considering adding a section for which face template to use for my new townies when I create them, but thought that might be pushing it a touch. :p  I'm going to experiment a bit to see if I can figure out how to decide whether a Sim should be a townie, downtownie or NPC. *rubs hands gleefully*
335  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: RandomStuff: Configurable "dice rolling" program on: 2007 May 03, 21:42:32
Maybe being a heartless ninja mercenary killing machine it wouldn't occur to you, but it's common courtesy IMO to at least let someone know if you're deleting their post and why (Shells was not notified her post had been deleted) and ESP when changing someone's word. How long does that take, five seconds?
As I recall, InSim has some sort of 'automated' notification system going on when they alter someone's post. I used the word 'fuck' where i shouldn't have, and I got a PM from. . . uh, something saying that my post had been altered. I went back, checked, and changed the wording accordingly. I wonder if that would work here.

It might be cool for people to post interesting and useful config files, like ones to generate interests, career fields, etc. k
I will do so for careers if you'd like. I'll enclose three attachments: the one labelled All Careers has all careers right up to Seasons included; the Base Game one only has the original 10 jobs; the Uni career included the original 10 as well as the four than came from Uni (if anyone is interested).

Also, if anyone's interested, I'm going to post one for hair and eye color, where the hair colors are also given either a long, medium or short length designation. Here's what mine looks like:
336  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Help With Homework on: 2007 May 03, 05:11:28
I thought the want actually gets satisfied when the homework is completed...

That's true in my game.

I wonder...Bain, let me just ask you a couple questions:

1). Are they doing the studying from the same parent?
2). Is it all done in one session? Example: are you having the parent try to teach the child when the homework is at 0% and they go all the way through until it's completed, or are you having the parent teach a little bit, then the child does more on it later.
3). Are you sure they're doing their own homework and not that of a sibling?
337  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Specific Sim and Offspring Cannot Use ANY Dressers on: 2007 April 30, 05:51:21
Thanks for giving me hope, Khan.  Grin

As it turns out, the problem was a hack I had, but it didn't actually have anything to do with nudity; it simply changed the word 'woohoo' to . . . uh, something else. *cough*

Thank you everyone for your help. Smiley
338  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: arranged Marriages on: 2007 April 29, 07:52:59
Well, I'm not sure if there's a hack that allows for non-loving Sims to marry, but I do know that there are a few that will allow Sims that aren't in love to WooHoo (TwoJeff's Autonomous Casual Romance hack comes to mind). Perhaps you could use a cheat of some sort (like the Quick Relations adjuster in the InSimenator) to change their relationship to Love just long enough to get them to the altar (if you want an actual ceremony) and once it's over, you can change them back to acquaintances.
339  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Cannot Use Dressers in any lot on: 2007 April 28, 23:40:53
I see, thanks.  Grin

I've done some experimenting, and it seems that I can create a new Self Sim without having this problem, so I'm wondering if there's been some sort of corruption in her DNA somehow. That's the only reason that I can think of for having both her AND her offspring suffering from the same error (although I'm not sure why or how this would have happened in a brand new 'hood) and no one else.
340  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Cannot Use Dressers in any lot on: 2007 April 28, 22:26:17
Thanks, Venusy. Smiley

It seems to be a problem with the Sim itself. I entered a different lot and had no problem using the dresser. Maybe the file of that actual Sim is corrupted in some way. I tried deleting her, saving the lot and reentering it, but the only thing that did was give her new everyday clothing. Then I chose 'delete' when the error message popped up, but the only thing that did was got her toddler taken away by the social worker (needless to say, I didn't save).

Perhaps I can try 'fixing' her with the lot debugger. *goes to RTFM*

ETA: New development: it seems that it's only that Sim (who happens to be my Self Sim) and her 6 biological offspring with a playable Sim that are affected (her spore-born son wasn't). Neither her husband nor anyone else in the neighborhood has this problem. I haven't tried a different 'hood yet, though, so I'll see if my Self Sim has any problems there.

ETA2: In my other brand new neighborhood that I hadn't played yet (beyond created a household of 8 Sims to townify), I discovered a couple things: not only was my Self Sim the only one that had a problem with using the dresser, but I also had the two Seasons families in it's Sim Bin (the Ramaswamis and the Ottomans). Yes, I'm sure I created that neighborhood before I installed Seasons, but they shouldn't show up there, should they?

I'm going to create a brand new clean neighborhood and see if my Self Sim still has problems.

(you know you can just take the censor off in SimPE, right?)

No, I wasn't aware of that! Would you be able to direct me to some place that tells me how?  Cool

It's just a checkbox in SimPe.  But there's a Pets version of the censor hack, which works fine in Seasons, so you should probably drop the NL version and get the Pets version.

There appears to be no Pets version of this file where I got it from (SexySims2.com). The three files available are NoCensorBlurNightlife, and quaxi_nl_censor in .rar and .zip files.  Huh If there's just a checkbox in SimPE, however, I'd really like to know where I would find that. Smiley

The College Interactions file wasn't the culprit. so I'll try the censor file next. Could the Teleport and COA objects from the DMA Workers/WooHoo sets possibly be causing this? Because I had those for quite some time (even after I got Seasons) and never had this problem. The Hack Conflict Detection Utility shows no conflicts, incidentally.

Hmmm, when looking through my hack folder, I see that the ones that would have anything to do with nudity would be (possibly) Crammyboy's Cock mod, quaxi's nl_censor, and TwoJeff's Autonomous Casual Romance mod. Although, perhaps the College Interactions on any Lot mod by Squinge may have something to do with it; that would enable streakers, right? Has anyone else had any problems with these mods?
344  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Specific Sim and Offspring Cannot Use ANY Dressers on: 2007 April 28, 08:34:37
All of a sudden, I seem to be unable to get any Sim to change their outfits using any dressers (on either residential or community lots). The second I point to the dresser, I get an error message (I think it's something about a missing string). I am including the last error log it referred to. Could anyone give me an idea as to what could be causing this?

Thanks. Smiley

Thanks, SaraMK!

Err, could I make a little request of you? On step 4 where you say, 'Open your downloaded eyes one by one...' could you please specify which downloaded eyes you need to open (the ones you downloaded to replace the defaults in step 2 or the default replacements you just got in step 3)? I'd really appreciate it.  Kiss
349  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Easiest Way to Make Default Replacement Eyes. on: 2007 April 09, 08:49:11
Errr, stupid question time. Is it possible to replace only one of Maxis eye colors with a custom color (not in a set)?
350  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Twins 3 times in a row? on: 2007 April 03, 07:56:03
Hmmm, I should check to see if the twins odds have been altered since I installed Seasons. I've only had one birth since it was installed, and it was twin boys (to the Ramawashi (?) couple that came with Riverblossom Hills). I'm pretty sure I have the exact same odds set up in the triplets & More hack that rosenshyne has, too.
