A classic case of PEBKAC.
Words of one syllable don't cut it so I had to use two or more syllables occasionally, I hope that's OK. Note: I'm only doing this so you will STOP WHINING.
Grow a brain (this will be the hard part!) Find "My Documents" on your desktop. Not your desk, it's the flat part of your computer called a monitor, that has little pictures of stuff on it. There will be a little picture called "My Documents". Or click the little picture called "Start" on the bottom left of the monitor if you don't see the "My Documents" one. Double click on the little picture. Find a folder called "Electronic Arts". Double click on it, this will open the folder. Find a folder called "The Sims 3" Double click on it. Find a folder called "Saves" Now that you know how to double click, look in this folder (you'd never have guessed to look here, would you?) for the saved game you were playing. Hint: they have names, as well as times and dates on them. Make a copy of the one you had a problem with. Post it somewhere and link to it here so JMP can see it. Now stop abusing your keyboard, in fact preferably don't post again.

Delete that ridiculous signature, and don't say "u" for "you" or "thanx" for "thanks".
Politeness is in fact perfectly acceptable around here but do not expect it, especially if you started off on the wrong foot by being so irritating. Stop telling everyone how special you are, fake cutesy-poo doesn't cut it here. Thanking people when they have given you advice is not required, that is what the "thanks" button is for.
There are WHOLE THREADS that answer your questions. Read them.

I can confirm that a lag was caused by a sim in my playable family gettting stuck. I was going nuts because the game would pause every few seconds, for minutes at a time, during which time I could do nothing. Game time did not pass during those lags, although all other animations and sounds continued. I was playing a family on vacation in China so I thought it might be somehow related to the vacation, and decided to get all my sims to Base Camp and then send them home.
This particular Sim would not come home, and it turned out that she was stuck on a riverbank. She had been fishing at one of the spots closest to Base Camp, but could not find her way up the bank (she kept getting that "there's something in my way" thought bubble). I directed her to a part of the bank that she could climb. As soon as I managed to do this, all was fine and my game ran perfectly again.
Just for the record, I have never used Supreme Commander.

You are missing something: JMP is awesome and we are SO LUCKY that he keeps fixing things that go wrong in the game. AM needs to be updated because each version fixes more stuff. He also only makes AM compatible with the latest version of the game. He makes it available to us free of charge. Now STOP WHINING or go complain to EA about all the problems in their game.
You can get all the patches when you use a legal game via the launcher, I don't know where else you can get them from.
AND STOP ASKING WHY YOU ARE NOT A 0.

I had some huge lags the first time I played, but after that not. I did not put down too many houses, maybe 10, and I only put one sim in the town and let the game do the rest. So I assume that lags were caused by AM running story mode and inserting sims into the town. I am playing the first version of Fargo and there are no problems with routing, other than where the path disappears at one or 2 points.

You don't instal package files with the launcher. Duh.
Put them in the folder C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 (whichever your most revent EP or SP is)\Mods\Packages
ETA: You can put your dbc files in a subfolder of that folder, if you have set up your resource.cfg to look for them there.

It means your computer is a time traveller? You do need to check for new versions quite often, but that's a funny message to get.

Alice and Kev are old news indeed. I made myself an entire family of homeless 12s and 6s after I read about them, it was not too hard to play as they could shower at the swimming pool. They lived in a "park" near the beach that had benches, one picnic table, streetlights and of course some trees and bushes on it. Eventually they built up a nice little vegetable garden. I did not let them have toys or any other items on the home lot, other than those that they could carry with them of course.
Having the sims take nap after nap got to be very boring, so cheap tents would definitely be a help.
As tents are not easily come by, I also propose some sort of homeless shelter where sims can use the cheap showers and beds for a small fee, and maybe do some skilling. This would have to be standardized of course to level the playing fields (either by specification or by building one and making it available for DL), but it could be a place where they could get soup or a jam sandwich too.

It does look a bit boring, but I have seen country towns laid out exactly like this.
Maybe work on the surrounding landscape to make it more interesting? The fields on the slope do not look very realistic. Fields on slopes might be narrower and laid out in steps according to the contours. (I haven't tried this in CAW yet but assume it's more versatile than the field decorative items in TS2.)
To figure out what to put in, think about who built this town and why it was built in that specific spot. Who owns the fields, what do they plant there and who comes to work on the fields? To make it look realistic, there should at least be roads so that they can be reached. You could think about adding a river or a railway, something to add detail. Towns like this would normally be built near a river.

The farming area is supercute! I would love to play this once you have completed it.
I agree that your mountains are a bit weird; unless this is set on an alien planet with different gravity you wouldn't get such pointy peaks. The space shuttle looks totally out of place on such a dinky little island, if you want to have the rabbit hole I suggest you bury it and design a much smaller building that will blend in better. The town hall, stadium, office building etc should have some sort of paving around them to look realistic, you could soften this to match the overall feel by putting in formal flowerbeds and/or benches.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How do you make the floor/wall traps work?

I just don't like the looks of the garage doors, so the thought of having one at the entrance to my Legacy mansion is not nearly as appealing as that of having fire spouting from the walls. Maybe I will have to settle for both; the fire can distract the approaching burglar while I'm closing the blast doors. I was thinking of using a pushable statue inside the house so that sims can arm the traps before they go to bed and then disarm them in the morning. Sims who are out late will still be able to teleport in.
