No! But I'm deeply concerned...are YOU asking for help?  The rest of us lipless wonders had best move away from our pcs before they explode.  There is no hope. Shocked

You've got to be joking!  Keanu may be wooden in his acting, but that's why we love him.  He's eye candy extraordinaire.  Great cheekbones!  Whereas Will with those ears - unforgiveable!  I like Will Smith, but he has way too much to say.  Keanu's vacant looks may be truly vacant, but they work! The role of Neo needs a SILENT hero.  Will would have talked us to death. Cheesy!  I bet Will regrets losing out on all those millions.

You're right.  I can remember the discussion amongst the popcorn and diet coke when we watched it at the cinema. Her hubby would have been the actor with the locks?  Too busy watching Keanu to care!

Fantastic!  Thanks.

I agree.  I didn't watch it all the way through; poor concentration and a working brain prevented me from doing so!  Not my kind of movie. But she was (only slightly) better acting with Jet Li and DMX in Romeo Must Die.

I'm a fan of her singing, although I think that her strongest work was done alongside R Kelly.  Shame about all the scandal that led to her leaving his label - he brought out the best in her vocally.  I'd say more about R Kelly - but I wouldn't want to be sued!

Aaliyah Haughton died tragically at the age of 22 in a plane crash almost 4 years ago.  She was a rising R & B singer who was about to become more well known because she had landed a leading role in the Matrix II and III. After her death her part in Matrix II was reshot and played (I think) by Jada Pinkett Smith.

I know all this is meaningless to a fortified Monatana hermit.  However, the vampire in you might find her final movie 'Queen of the Damned' more to your taste.  http://www.warnerbros.co.uk/movies/qotd/trailer.html

No, no, no. Send them to the front page and let them download the free samples.
Consider it done!

And I liked your old cat avatar better.
That's just plain evil! I'm a big fan of the late Aalliyah.  But as it's your website...

JM, what are your feelings regarding members here advertising your website elsewhere?

I'm tempted to add it to my signature over on the BBS, as I did for a while when you were at Variousimmers.  The upside of advertising would be that people who are genuinely interested in fixing their game would be able to find their way to you.  The downside would be that many of those featured on the Idiot of the Day could find their way here too.  I can't handle the bad spelling and the EA loyalty over at the BBS, I certainly don't want to have to read it here.

Are you keeping this exclusive or can any idiot join?

The toilets/plumbing in the dorms should not have to be paid for by my poor students. The toilet that broke down 3 times in a row was exactly 1 and 1/2 simdays old. If it worked as prescribed (i.e. time to replace) I would not feel so exasperated. I once had a bathtub break everytime a sim used it. I replaced it and darn if the new one didn't follow the same pattern right after installation.

Goodness!  I thought I'd entered the real world for a moment!  It's just a game.  Roll Eyes  Real life repairs and the lack there of wind me up - when you get this wound up, it's time to walk away from the computer - NOW! Grin

My layperson's understanding of too many character files is that when you have reached a certain (don't ask me how many) number, you simply cannot create any more sims; this means that any CAS or newborn sims simply disappear after you've saved your lot/game.  It happened in my game and in the end I had to start from scratch again.

Back then, I played every neighbourhood for several months, expanded each to a population of atleast 40+ lots in Pleasantview, approximately 20+ lots in Strangetown and 50+ lots in Veronaville. In total there were about 450 playable sims - if you average each household to 4+ sims. Also I had a legacy neighbourhood (10 households) and one other neighbourhood with 5 approx households.    My downfall was that each household in each neighbourhood was regularly reproducing, also I'd done the unforgiveable and moved several lots between neighbourhoods. I had also downloaded and used peopled lots. Most of my sims had married or moved in townies, so they were respawning rapidly.  When Uni came out I moved most of my townie teens in one neighbourhood to Uni.

Subsequent implosion of the game was just a matter of time! Undecided

The cisg was rotated between serving npcs when I used to play Veronaville - back before my game exploded into a fiery ball. I recall npcs fulfilling the role, because one of the barmaids who took a call went on to become Romeo's wife - I recognised her because he was dating her.  Also, I've seen other people with the same occupation take the call - eg Mrs Jennifer Burb's icon (who was in the army) took a sick call from another army sim who was calling in sick.

But I could be making it up - I might be confusing it with sims that take calls for townies who are at work.  It was a long time ago!  Oops - there go my.... Wink

The icon had travelled up diagonally (as usual) and I x'ed it out before it changed into the face of the person being called.  I touch type, so I was pretty quick - it didn't have a chance to go green.  I still think that it's a one-off but just in case, the most recently installed fixes were the No townie/npc - move in amnesia fixes and and the no pool hack - which didn't seem to be working, because one of the guests did go for a swim and she hadn't arrived in her swimsuit.

I reinstalled those fixes today; On a separate note, a cheerleader that moved in didn't keep her memories - that mystery sim was still there.
314  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Party glitch? on: 2005 July 26, 16:12:16
Yes, I clicked on it then x'd it out before I clicked on 'throw toga party'.  The key thing was that the usual party menu didn't appear at all.  I waited for it, but the screen message about the party being underway came up instead.
315  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Party glitch? on: 2005 July 26, 15:57:02
Should I be worried?

Last night a Uni Greek House sim threw a party from her cellphone; I'd clicked on 'phone friends', then changed my mind and clicked on 'throw toga party'.  Unusually, no party list came up.  Instead, every single sim she'd ever met turned up at her house - relatives, friends, npcs, townies and Uni students. Only a handful in togas. There were between 40-50 sims present.

The game was jumping, and only certain commands worked for the two playable sims on the lot - mainly interactions with each other.  Interactions with other sims only worked if they were physically nearby, and as soon as they started them, they jumped out of them.  The party message eventually cancelled itself out, so all of those sims stayed.  When they gradually left (after 2am)  the lot became playable again but, needless to say, I didn't save: During that time the mother of the party thrower died on the lot and left no tombstone.

Was this just a glitch or should I just wait for my game to explode - once again?  (I don't think that this is linked to any of your fixes from this site which are already installed in my game).  I replayed the lot, and threw another toga party, this time 8 guests were invited and 6 turned up.  The game has played fine since.  Any real cause for concern?
316  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Time-sync and aging on: 2005 July 16, 17:55:23
A bit of research and calculating has led me to believe that the age phases work out okay if the teen phase is played for 7 days and if sims endure Uni for 4 neighbourhood days, as JM suggests.  As usual he's right - I have buggered up my time-sync.  Now I have to use his clock to fix this.

The only other thing I might do is use a hack to make pregnancies last for just one sim day so that finally, time really is in sync with aging.
317  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Time-sync and aging on: 2005 July 16, 12:59:28
Alvaron, I play each neighbourhood house for a sim day then move on; the 1 sim day = 1 sim year worked fine apart from the fact that pregnancy lasts for 3 days - ie 3 years.  I know it's not real, but it really gets on my nerves.

One of my sims is currently at Uni, and I'm trying to age him at the rightish pace, so I was trying 2 uni days = 1 sim day, but then his Mom got pregnant and I realised that if I played at that ratio tnen he would leave Uni when Mom's new baby was about to be a teen!

JM, if I play using your ratio, then Mom will be pregnant for 3 Uni years.  It just doesn't work out.  Do I really have to play a whole Uni (yawn) year at a time?  I do have your clock, and could use it, but there are still lots of Uni activities that I haven't done yet (zombies, secret society) mainly because my eyes start to bleed and my head pulses ready to explode if I stay at Uni for too long!

Thanks for the advice from both of you.

8. Time-sync must be maintained if anyone goes to Uni. You may play no more than 1 day on the main lot per year of Uni.

I have never been able to work out just how sim time works.  Is there any logic to it at all?

I just want my sims to age at the same rate, whether they are in the main neighbourhood or at uni.  What's the easiest way to make this happen?

Just when I was starting to get withdrawal symptons... and although you told us not to panic, I did quietly cancel the idea of buying Nightlife; who else will be able to get it to work with TS2 and Uni properly?
