26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Any idea what mods could be screwing up my game after patching it? on: 2009 August 01, 23:34:56
my game crashes as soon as I press the check mark to load one of my games in Riverview..

Not that I had this problem, but someone already wrote that they had to reinstall Riverview, because it somehow got uninstalled in the process of patching the game. Still, when I once tried to run a downloaded Riverview save without Riverview installed, the game only gave me a very scary message that a SERIOUS ERROR occured, but it didn't crash at all.
27  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch ponderings... on: 2009 August 01, 23:28:40
RLD, running smoothly now. Only problem was with the families, replaced them, the patch installed without error. Then I had the not aging problem and the route failures with the first compatible AM - Pescado admitted the not aging was AM's fault and corrected it - but with the newest AM the route failures went away, too.

Oh, and I had a brief problem with AM not working at all and game asking for CD, but I somehow managed to put another core mod in override... Roll Eyes

I'm inclined to agree with him that most all the errors are user created.

Can't we just use AwesomeMod as a replacement to the No-CD Crack on v1.3?

Yes, we can. I don't have the crack anymore for the v1.3 and it works.
30  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 August 01, 12:04:19
Indie does tend to make some weird pairings... in two separate games Holly Alto decided to marry Iqbal Alvi and Geoffrey Landgraab, both elders at the time. I guess she's into older men. I'm sure Nick Alto was pissing blood over that one.

On my only Wolfrun, for about three generations, I followed the happenings closely, and most of the population tended to marry/have children when elder... Some of the couples died right after giving birth and left the children to the gypsies Sad
31  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New Build of awsome mod causes my game to crash to desktop. NOT THE DON"T REPORT on: 2009 August 01, 11:54:47
EA Patch is reported to be very borked up I do not want to install it until they make it good.
I want to use the awesome, I love awesome mod, I cannot play without it, but I have a bit older working build that cannot be used anymore

Motoki, I'm respectful to you, so please do not offend me, better tell me what to do?

Set your system time back some days, to the time the mod you are using came out. Or hack the AM into submission.

EA patches will all be borked up, the 1.4, 1.5 and the 15.6, too. AM already fixed everything (at least in my game) that the patch broke.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Why aren't my mods working? on: 2009 July 31, 21:16:47
Try getting the resource.cfg from the Awesome Mod thread, and put it in the Sims3 directory (in the program files, you are installing your mods there, I hope). Other than that, and deleting the cache files from My Documents, I have no idea... Also check if you don't have some weird core mods in your mods folder, that could override AM. I *thought* I'm not that stupid, but figures even I can make mistakes like that  Wink
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 1.3 patch stupidificated the sims. on: 2009 July 31, 20:55:29
After the patch, my game asked for CD, too, with Awesome Mod in the mods folder. Of course it was my stupidity: I put the Inteen in the override folder, core mod and all. The moment I took out the Inteen core, the game started up without problems. Try searching your mods folder for some other core mod, it looks like something disables the AM.

FYI, I have the RLD (!) patched to Razor, patched to 1.27 to 1.3. Runs smoothly, no crashes, no problems, no nothing.
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Why aren't my mods working? on: 2009 July 31, 20:16:41
Do you have your mods in the same folder you have the other stuff? Mods>Packages? No subfolders? I had the same problem with IndieStone not working, but when I installed AM, it worked just fine. Thing is, I re-downloaded the resource.cfg from here when I installed it, and installed that in the right place, which is right in the Sims3 folder, not in mods. I haven't checked whether the Install Helper Monkey put it there or not in the first place... but judging from the fact that it won't install saved sims in the right folder, anything might be possible  Undecided
35  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: A new kind of crash! on: 2009 July 31, 17:45:45
I removed it (awesome mod) suddenly my Indie Stone Mod doesn't show....
I have a head ache.
I need my awesome mod.

You need the Indie Stone core for the mod to show without AM, but I don't know if it was updated for the 1.3 patch yet.

This has been reported and briefly encountered, but doesn't appear to be anything SPECIFICALLY induced by AwesomeMod. I spent hours tracing this, only to have it magically go away without, and the only thing I can think of is that at some point I booted the original unmodified game and opened a neighborhood with the CD in place. I have this wild theory that this is a new EAxian attempt to crack down on pirates, who presumably do not have access to an original CD.

Except not everybody got it, therefore either they messed up their anti-pirate code (very possible), or it's only a new form of voodoo, and having a dozen Feng-Shui thingies on my monitor or maybe the greenery I'm cultivating on my computer filters out the bad vibes. I definitely haven't tried with the CD as I doubt the game would accept the RLD image as a valid CD Smiley Hmm, on a second thought, maybe it *was* a good idea starting the patched game first with 3 different core mods in the mods folder...  Roll Eyes Talk about absent-minded...
36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: EA patch notes lie on: 2009 July 30, 22:59:47
I had the route failing with the patch and the first compatible AM, but now it seems to work normally, even though Pescado didn't write anything about solving route failing, just the not aging.

As for my townies: they are acting like usual, doing their stuff. I don't think I've ever seen them standing in one place doing nothing, not even when quickly swapping places: by the time everything renders, everyone is moving. Now that I halved the dynamic avoidance numbers in that ini file - somebody posted this solution here somewhere - they don't even get stuck that often, they are mostly able to navigate around each other, at least they aren't worse than in TS2.
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Plight of the Torsoless on: 2009 July 29, 15:51:15
I don't know if he's pregnant or not, but I have something similar in my new neighbourhood, after the heavy patching today...
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 30x20 lots vs. 20x30 lots on: 2009 July 28, 09:44:26
The lot size description/orientation means nothing in TS3. Put the mailbox where you want the front, and they will use it as the front. Try it in Riverview on the lonely house on the highest hill, above the town: put the mailbox beside the small path leading up the hill, and they wont use the road behind the house, EVER. The cars will stop below the hill, and the sims will run up the path to the house, every time they were out in town.
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 July 26, 22:09:53
Beware of the quicksand masquerading as grass! Place the potty somewhere else, or it eats up all your toddlers!

Really, I just placed mine two tiles to the left, and they could use it normally after that.
40  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: How-to: Cleaning up the homeless scum in your town on: 2009 July 26, 17:22:39
What I would like to see is a self-sufficient town, where I create a few families (ok, in this town I would need quite a few), and they have to live on their own, without any imigration, but without any service people either, so if say none of them can repair things, then they can't call a repairman, if none of them is a fireman, then a fireman won't come if they have fire, etc. If they die out that way, then I fail as a town manager... but I guess that will be TS4 or rather TS40...
41  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Compatibility question with configuration file. on: 2009 July 26, 17:09:11
Then they would ask for a pony.

What's up with everybody and the pony? I WANT my damn Ticket!  Angry

No, really, now that we have some traits (and can guess others), I would really, really like a Pescado in my game to cuddle um, so that I could have a realistic Emperor of Evil  Cheesy

Runs...
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: How-to: Cleaning up the homeless scum in your town on: 2009 July 24, 18:40:59
If you have Indie + AM you can still use Destroyalltownies.

Yes, but the next day they are back, only a lot more of them and they are even more ugly...
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: How-to: Cleaning up the homeless scum in your town on: 2009 July 24, 18:25:03
Will test that next time I see someone. I'm restarting my 'hood, as ISM messed it up (there's a bug in 0.5a/b where it will flood the 'hood with duplicates of Simbin Sims, if you allow genetics imports from the Library, so my 'hood looks like it was overran by identical twins Sad).

Was that just a bug? Motoki's post stopped me just in time before enabling the feature, but I would like it otherwise.

Also: is it possible to permanently kill off the homeless population with Indie? I have the no emigration enabled, but that way I get a lot of homeless families...
44  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: little help maybe? on: 2009 July 22, 18:12:52
I am not sure. How would i go about doing that?

Locate it in the program files: sims3/mods/packages: awesome and aweconf. Delete them. Grab the new awesome package, put it there, then create a new aweconf file and put that there too. Delete the caches from the My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims3 folder: most importantly the scriptCache file. Try playing again.
45  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 22, 18:08:58
So, I don't know why it didn't work at first. I don't think any of my neurotic behavior could have impacted it that much...
Ah well. At least it works now.
 Grin!

My solution was shutting the game down and going to sleep: then when I turned it on today, voila, it works! (Strange, because I cleared the caches yesterday...) The usual Voodoo - at least I never got the mysterious crash, not even with conflicting core mods I accidentally left in the mods folder...
46  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Can't marry? on: 2009 July 22, 09:03:07
Can you have multiple boyfriends/girlfriends in this game? I can't seem to be able to propose "going steady" when I already have one, but my romantic interactions are borked in strange ways, so maybe it's only me... (should probably check if I accidentally left one or two conflicting romance mods in  Grin)
47  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 21, 19:34:56
Is it just me, or the discoinferno and the trogdor cheats really do the same? I just got around to actually fire up the game (literally) Cheesy and had several minutes of LOL, especially as my Cloud Strife in testing I forgot I had in the hood and never met before charged in and saved the day while all the professionals were busy saving each other. Go figure! Cheesy The stuff creates a horrible lag, though...

Hmm, I might actually save here... Nobody died, I got all the firemen in one place and I was just looking for a way to make them appear so that they could knock my sim up with awesome genes Wink

Any more secret how-to-fubar-my-legacy(ish)-neighborhood stuff?

A little more in-topic: does anybody know if Indie comes with all storymode actions enabled or disabled? I went over it several times, and disabled this, enabled that, but I'm not sure I covered all I wanted and I have no idea where to check the actual settings. The problem is, I ceased to have notifications days ago, and then noticed I only enabled certain of them for friends, so I made that for all hood, got a notification of somebody doing something, then again nothing. I didn't disable anything I *want* to see, so if something is disabled, it's by default. I got several "this-and-this got a job" notifications, but nobody married or had a kid thus far for example... I'm sure marriage is enabled, socialization is enabled, but that mod is a maze and I always get lost in it. I never thought I'll like Pescado's commandline mods better than a shiny visual interface, but there you have it  Embarrassed
48  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: They just wont die! on: 2009 July 21, 18:12:32
Quote
If a Sim who can't temporarily die by starvation has their hunger fall below this value, we assign set it to it.  Example: Preganant Sims and Sims on the world lot. Value: -95.0
Forgive my stupidity. Do you mean to tell me that pregnant Sims cannot starve to death?

No idea, I just accidentally bumped into this line in the XMLs and I quoted it here (typos and all) because I've seen the topic before. It's certainly in the code. Whether the game uses it, or whether it's used for the things they stated, I cannot tell - I don't seem to have a luck with XML mods, as the things I modify somehow never do what I intended them to do Smiley Maybe the code works for something else, not the examples they put there... or, it might only work for the sims in labor - after all, they can't do anything while "the baby is coming".
49  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 20, 16:07:17
Where do you get these "secret commands" from? I can't see that discoinferno Smiley, but while I see some new things, I'm not sure what comes from Indie and what's new. For instance purgegenetichair and genetics - what do they do?
50  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 20, 15:06:00
Avast just knew when to CTD my game! Cheesy Gonna grab the new mods and test them - at least this will end the constant hopping around to keep the neighbourhood living! Let's hope Indie will work this time, as the first time I installed AM was because I couldn't make Indie work. But I will switch to the Awesome story progression the moment it will be available!

*is positively giddy*

- I guess I'd better take out the awesomified teenwoohoomod now, though
