1  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game Update for: 1.15/2.10/3.6/4.3 on: 2010 September 19, 21:59:58
Alright, I've looked in the test directory and searched both the "AwesomeMod!" forum section and Google itself for any sign of an alternate mirror...and I can't find the 1.15 AM Test version. I have the same problem as veezee has reported, but since no one commented on his response in the last 3-days, I thought I'd add that I'm getting it too. The mirror that I'm accustomed to pulling from is http://alpha.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/test/...but there isn't anything in that directory. I assume that this is because Pescado hasn't uploaded it, but just in case I'm doin it wrong, I thought I'd mention this fact as well.

Now, common sense says the others are not having issues since the forum isn't overflowing with "It's borked!" threads. This either means no one has upgraded to 1.15 (and hence, probably haven't installed Fast Lane), or have an alternate way of obtaining the 1.15 AM Test version. I've tried the latest release of AM, but it CtD's within a few minutes of play-time if I exit my home's basement (if I stay in the basement view, there is no crash).

Any help? Sad
2  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 07, 16:49:59
I just played for 12 hours straight. No crash, freeze or lag. Tons of CC, mods and AM installed. Only issues I have are the ones that's already been reported. The school is borked, property values, the interior designer career is busted, and derelict vehicles everywhere. There's even one stuck outside my sims house and I've ran towderelicts about 10 times and it only nabs the school bus but the others are left. Not sure how to get rid of those?

I hate it when that happens. When towderelicts doesn't work, have you tried Nuking them? I occasionally had some stuck vehicles in my Pre-AMB main family, and towing them only worked a small fraction of the time; they'd appear again in the same spot about a sim-week later. If I Nuked them, though, they'd disappear and never get stuck again. I am not, however, sure if this ruins any scripts that may be going on "behind the curtain."

Also, random houses are catching on fire when my sim is not a firefighter. The game then informs me I have been credited X money for my damages when my house isn't even on fire. From what I can tell, I never actually get the money though.

Are you using NRaas story mod? If so, this sounds like an issue they've had for a while where private activities such as parties, fires, and repomen will alert you as the player but actually mean the other towns-person. I usually ignore it since I never get the money. If, on the other hand, you're not using NRaas at all, I'd call EAxian bullshit.

I can second this one, but I'm not quite sure it is an awesomemod thing. To get to it, you need to use Debug Mode and ctrl-shift click on a bookshelf. The Stock with Genre option is right there...but none of the options allow you to do anything with it. I have a feeling the feature isn't fully supported...

Re-load, quick! I had that happen to me, and if you've saved, there is no way to get it back on that save...sorry Sad. What were you doing before that happened?
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Grim doesn't show up? on: 2010 January 17, 23:27:18
I actually tracked it down to one of two Traits. For some reason, if I give this sim the "Bookshop Bargainer" and "Attractive" traits, Death never shows up. When I force those two to be removed, suddenly everything is normal. Doesn't bother me too much, as they're only marginally useful anyway, but still...not really sure why this is happening.
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Grim doesn't show up? on: 2010 January 09, 19:32:10
Sorry--forgot to add that I already tried to reset the sim. Yes, they turn back into a person after the reset (with their age restored to the beginning of Elder) but they just end up floating as a ghost again when I have them age up.

I have narrowed this problem down to a single sim: My legacy family original sim that I've kept alive since starting to play Sims 3 when it first came out. Somehow, whenever he is part of the family, Grim refuses to show up on the home lot. Anywhere else--it is fine. I have moved the family to a different lot--same thing. I removed only him, and the family could die normally again on their original lot. Any suggestions on how to reset him? I have tried to do Resetsim, but this doesn't clear whatever bug is affecting him. Could it possibly be his Lifetime Reward Points? He currently possesses a pool of 257,910 (a complete total of ~878,220 according to NRASS computer's Sim Status). Could this be the reason?

Okay, I'm not sure if this is an AM thing or just general lot corruption, but I'm stumped. I have a sim in my legacy family that is about to pass on (she literally has ~1 hour before expiration on my current save). The problem is that as soon as she floats up and turns ghost, she floats there...everyone zergswarms her to mourn, and Grim never shows up to collect her soul. WTF?! I thought it could be slowdown so I waited 5 hours in-game and the family just stood there crying over her floating body the entire time. If I canceled their mourn, they'd ignore her and go back to house randoms.

I have tested this on another lot by summoning (via debug summoner) a random npc--in this case, a magician, and electrocuting her to death. She falls, twitches, and Grim shows up with chorus and everything. I have even tested randomly killing another household sim on my lot through any death and they all seem to completely lock up as ghosts--no grim. Has anyone seen this behavior before?
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Can't find this adventure, does it exist? on: 2010 January 04, 06:04:34
Okay, so I've googled and searched here, as well as tried to find traces of this in all three locations in WA. I'm stumped, and would like to know if I've just simply been misinformed.

I was told about a week or two ago that there is an adventure in one of the countries that, once you complete it, allows you to plant things in your basement. I'm not sure of the specifics, and I don't know which country it was in, but I'm asking: Does anyone know of this? I can't seem to find the same website I got this information from so I'm beginning to think it is bogus. They talked about needing to balance a basement room with seasonal lighting--using the "In 1," "In 2," "In 3," and "In 4" items. I can see these items as options in the debugger when placing treasure, but apparently I can't recover them from chests so I'm missing something (at this point I was getting frustrated so I wanted to see if I could spawn them to maybe trigger something of a hint).

Any ideas on this? If no one has heard of planting in the basement, what are these "items" for?
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Gremlins or just bad luck? on: 2009 December 01, 23:37:08
Okay, so I'm all on board with this entire "Gemlins in the game" thing for how often Sims 3 crashes and to fix it you can literally just sacrifice some happy, cute, orphan kittens in front of your machine and it will fix it..but this is a bit ridiculous.

I have the latest patches for the original game, as well as WA 1.7.9. I was playing the game just fine from Friday on to late Sunday (off and on, of course Wink). At some point while exploring a tomb in Egypt, the screen suddenly flickered and then went black. I could still hear the music and everything, but the computer itself was locked up completely. I waited a full minute before restarting by soft-reset. I then proceeded to try and play the game again, but within 10-minutes, the same thing happened. I restarted, tried a third time, and this time the game crashes just like that but at bootup! I went through the basic de-gremlin process (removed the *cache files, etc), and even went as far as to remove all CC entirely--thinking AM and the new Twallan mods were conflicting. No go, unfortunately; the black screen still displays immediately upon reboot.

Now, I have a BFG GTX OC 1GB GPU; I know it is beyond enough to support this game. I searched around and found that some people are having trouble with the 191.xx drivers from nVidia--which I've had installed for about a month with no problem. Now it turns out this black screen thing is happening to a lot of people. I upgraded to the latest WHQL drivers from nVidia (195.62) and this didn't even fix it. I have completely uninstalled Sims 3, WA, and everything nVidia now. I've cleaned the registry and insured that no trace of the previous installations of any three of those components was left on the machine. Then I proceeded to reinstall 190.1--the last stable release claimed by many in the Sims 3 community to run fine. I reinstalled Sims 3 and WA, patched up, CC'd, and loaded fine (my saves can't run without the CC...otherwise I would have skipped CC first, then added it in later). I started playing, joyous at the fact that I can finally get back to my quests and wealth. Lo-and-behold, 10-minutes later, BAM! Black Screen...

After spending 3-hours on this the last time, I wasn't going to do it again. As much of an upgrade as Sims 3 installer is from Sims 2 installers (installing all of those XP's was a nightmare ...) I still don't want do it  Undecided. I got the idea of opening up the options.ini file inside of the settings folder. I'll admit I've seen more complicated INI's, so this one was fairly impressive in simplicity. I looked through it to see if there was a corruption or something from my restarting so much out of frustration. No corruption, but I did get the idea of turning off Full-screen (logic: If it freezes outside of full-screen, I can end the task. If it is full-screen, the computer locks up because it is the only front process...). Boot it, and it loaded! UGH!  Angry

So it seems to run just fine in Window mode, but I can't stand window mode since you can't Edge Scroll at all...which is how I get around in the game. So, I'm coming to the one place where I know I can get a fairly quick (if not snarky) response. What have I forgotten to check? I've checked the GPU's fan speed--which is fine and cooling--so it isn't the GPU. Drivers, mods, etc...all seem to check out fine. I've also tried to get the game running in window mode, and manually switching out to Full-Screen; crashes. It seems like whenever there's some random, fairly annoying glitch that I keep hearing about, someone around here knows about it and knows how to fix it. I'm fairly certain this is way beyond AM, but as a general request to anyone that may know something--I'm asking here.

Thanks... Cheesy
10  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Long pauses on: 2009 November 15, 18:18:33
Of course there are other issues now, but what would this game be without the strategic addition of having to work around the random, reoccurring glitch?

Not an EA game, that's what.  Roll Eyes Note that AM is not the only culprit for making glitches--Pescado does what he can do do a fantastic (even, if I dare say, AWESOME) job of making the mod as good as it is. Problem is, there are inherent issues in the core of Sims 3 that, like all EA games, we have to work around anyway...I'm starting to think that this reoccurring glitch--of which mine has returned recently and my fix isn't fixing now--is actually mostly on EA's side; AM just simply exacerbates the glitch to the point of experiencing it.

The fact that Pescado can't reproduce the issue is what is really bugging me. That means there's something that we're doing that he is not...and we don't know to tell him.
11  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Long pauses on: 2009 October 22, 00:05:34
Okay, I've been digging into this for the last two days. I'm on a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit), and I needed to re-install Sims 3--obviously. I brought over my save from my original play in Vista (I've been using the same Simie since day 1 release of Sims 3). So here's the breakdown of what I went through:

My sim lot on Monday, when I first re-installed the game and all addons, was updated to the latest patch and latest AM revision. I was glad to hear about the new feature to re-award the sims their earned plaques for skills as I long ago forgot to take nearly all of mine off the wall of the house I moved from (and for some reason couldn't steal them back with my Klepto... Tongue). Anyway, I played for about an hour and suddenly locked up in game. This was no ordinary freeze either: I was on speed setting 3, so I could see all animations very well such as the bushes, the plumb bob, trees, etc. My mouse would move just fine, but the picture was locked and so was the rest of the game world; I force quit. Coming back this evening, I come to find out that it is
still happening. I re-installed AM thinking I got another bad DL (its happened to me before...latest Firefox seems to be causing some major grief with my internets -_-...). The problem persisted, and now is happening every 5 to 25 minutes. So, with some idea from previous pages here, I went into the game and analyzed everything I could with the NRS Supercomputer's features--a very handy debug tool, imho, as close to the "Yellow Box" debugger I always hid on my lot in Sims 2.

Here are the results (I'm placing it all here):

What I changed:
  • 11 Stereos running; turned them off. (Coincidentally, this also returned music capabilities to my live household. I was not aware I was missing it until I suddenly heard the "job done" music score for the first time in a long time.)
  • 1 Missing sim returned to reality. Not sure where she went, but she's back now...
  • 6 voices inherited from their parents. Again, not quite sure of this one but I did it anyway.

Neighborhood Stats:
  • 38 Households
  • 88 Residents
  • 85 Service NPCs
  • 23 Townies
  • 93 Total Lots
  • 64 Residential
  • 29 Commercial
  • 34 Residential lots occupied
  • 30 Residential lots unoccupied
  • 20 Residential lots completely empty

  • Total Town Wealth: 5,373,087
[/list]

After this I suddenly noticed the second portion of this strange lockup thread: The jittery pathing. Thinking that I was boned, I looked at each of the characters and realized that all but one of the three members of the household were running off Supreme Commander scripts. I canceled all of them and suddenly my game returns to normal. I am now almost an hour into play with no locks yet. I'm wondering if SC and the latest patch are having some problems, or if the stereos are far more resource intensive than I had previously thought...
12  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Glitched items: Family Inventory on: 2009 October 11, 20:39:57
That's kind of what I'm hoping for. If he simply opens the nuke up for family inventory, that would be all that would be needed.
13  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Glitched items: Family Inventory on: 2009 October 11, 16:42:04
So I've had this problem since my second day of playing the game (had the game since the day before the game came out; yes, this family is that old). When I moved my sims from one house to another, for some reason a large portion of gems I was keeping as house ornaments suddenly became corrupt. I can't select them, move them, or even get their pics to load in the screen. Since the item Nuker doesn't work past the actual Life Mode (i.e.: doesn't work in retail or builder modes), does anyone know of a good way to get rid of these freaking items!?!

Family inventory...those things are SOOO annoying just sitting there...

I don't mind loosing them, as at this point it isn't hard to recover them. I just want them gone either way.
