51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Tourist groups and their relationships on: 2007 October 22, 22:00:02
I've been setting all my townies across the game as related for a while now, starting with the ones who Maxis "randomized" with the same last name and eventually changing some to match, and the game doesn't seem to have a problem with this. So now my downtownie kids have parents. I also married a couple of the island locals and set them as the parents of another who was marrying a playable, for instant inlaws. It just seems to make it a tad more real, heh.
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vacation Locals invading neighborhood?! on: 2007 October 21, 17:54:07
I'm getting the tourists all over my comm lots too, both Downtown and in the regular hood. I don't know if any "locals" were along, because I hadn't made them properly then, but they're fixed now. Frankly I wish they'd stay in the vacation hoods, though, and that way fewer playables would show up on the vacation lots! It was almost like they hadn't gone anywhere new at all, except for the setting. I do have localwalkby in, and the visitor controller beta as well.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Incest: When you love your mother too much on: 2007 October 21, 00:42:32
I made a really inbred family line just to see what would happen, but since Sims are Sims I didn't get any interesting deformities, just the kids looking more and more like the original (vampire) father. Funnily enough, one of the fourth inbred generation has brown eyes from her great-grandmother despite all the reintroducing of the blue eyes of her father/great-grandfather. I'm getting tired of the vampire, though, so I think he's done contributing his genes to the line Tongue
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help, fight constantly on: 2007 October 20, 23:34:30
Heh, I had a couple of Sims who always attack each other on sight begin fighting at a wedding, fightclub installed and all. They starting fighting at 6 PM and it was about 4 or 5 AM when they finished and left. The family was asleep and they were fighting on high speed, just on and on. It was actually pretty funny, since they were just visitors.
55  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Walk to lot -> lot loads in build mode?! on: 2007 October 19, 05:28:16
I had this issue as well, but since the walk-to didn't work when I was going from a hotel lot to any community lot, it may not be the exact bug, and the magic wand didn't do anything, either. I tried readjusting hacks, but to no avail. It's not terrible since I was able to get the taxi to work (the option wasn't coming up on the phone at first, but then it started to work). This is the error log I got - is it possible to tell which hack might be interfering? Otherwise, I guess I'll just use the taxi, because everything else is fine...

56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage Woohoo Memories on: 2007 October 19, 05:10:07
I haven't experienced that.  Having extramarital woohoo normally brings the wife running from wherever she is on the lot.

One exception -- doing it in the car in the driveway.  The wife only gets upset if she's outside at the time of the woohoo.  Perhaps because she can see through the windows...

You know, an interesting hack idea...  Or something that would be good for Sims 3....  I would love it if friends or family that are outraged by the sight of extramarital woohoo could gossip the news back to the wife at a later time and make her furious.  It would make for more interesting logistical problems.

That was a feature in one of the promotional preview videos I remember seeing before the game came out. Don's wife's sister walked in on him and Dina making out and then went to tell her sister, who, as a family sim with a being cheated on fear, went into aspiration failure. Somewhere between the video and release, though, that disappeared. I'd love to see it in 3, though. The closest it seemed to get afterward was with the furiousness (I had a Sim who would go around kicking the trashcan of a Sim who got caught cheating on his aunt) but that sort of furiousness was squashed with some of the puddle rage fixes/romance mod, I believe. Ah well.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Random Limo Drive By on: 2007 September 13, 01:24:34
It is possible for sounds to go buggy and get stuck.  On one lot I had the screetchy sound the base guitar makes as a sim stops playing it get stuck.  It was terribly annoying, and the only way I found to get rid of it was to move the family out.

In one house of mine it was the SSX3 sounds playing randomly. Never was able to get rid of it, but no one lives in that house anymore, so it's probably cleared out by now. I also had the "music stops playing on the stereo" thing, and eventually I ended up muting the music and just playing Winamp in the background, heh. Though I do miss some of the songs, I'll have to look into extracting them so I can put them in with the MP3s...
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Werewolves on: 2007 September 09, 03:23:58
I'm playing both my first vampire and first werewolf. My playable Sim was vamped by a Grand Vampire while downtown. They later fell in love and were married. I have all EPs up to Seasons. But this is my first time having this happen since I first installed Nightlife. I guess with the fixes in the game preventing them from biting the wrong Sims, they just don't bite that often.

Yeah, I figured that was the case. I didn't have any downtownies anymore until recently, either, so maybe a couple of them will get turned now...
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Werewolves on: 2007 September 08, 02:49:42
Maybe I'll re-wolf him and see what happens. I suppose if all else fails, when I get around to buying and installing BV, the New EP Want-Spam for that will override a constant howl fear Grin I think I'd be fine with it if it didn't come up on all the Sims all the time - I've had a couple vampires and no one is fretting about being bitten anymore. Not that I've ever seen anyone autonomously bitten, even by Grand Vampires, since OFB, but that's another thing altogether. What with teens only really having three spaces thanks to the persistent college want, also persistently wanting to hear the (totally human) elder down the street howl at you really makes for a boring Knowledge teen Cheesy
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Werewolves on: 2007 September 08, 01:44:48
I turned a Sim into a wolf using the testingcheats because my sister wanted to see what would happen, and I decided to leave it, but once I realized that all the other Sims in the neighborhood either wanted or feared to hear him him howling, I turned him back. However, many of them -still- have that stupid fear or want, and he -can't- howl! Does that ever go away? Do I need to turn him back and use the gypsy potion rather than the cheat to cure him? Because it might be interesting to have one around, but at the same time I really don't want the perma-spam for the howling.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lovestruck Baby on: 2007 September 08, 00:02:16
Marhis also has a romantic flags batch cleaner object, I think available on MTS2, which will clear out old relationships for your sim by type. It works nicely for me.
62  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Wants & Fears Sanity "Death To All Nesses" Public Beta Edition on: 2007 June 13, 05:49:55
Yea, I've seen the snowball fight want on the first day of winter too.  I'm also still getting the want for/fear of someone who's dead being cured of being a werewolf. It keeps popping up every time the wants reroll.

Using this mod, no problems so far, though I did have a knowledge sim want to make a zombie of a Sim who was already a zombie, as well as make zombies out of all his other recently dead friends, as per usual. I don't think you'd want to double-zombify a zombie, though I guess he'd technically be still dead...
63  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Wants & Fears Sanity "Death To All Nesses" Public Beta Edition on: 2007 May 25, 04:26:43
I am having trouble with with fountains in general. All of a sudden my people in my homes stopped doing anything autonomous. I turned testing cheats on, and the log showed that there was a problem with the fountains (different fountains on different lots) and then when I deleted them, everything went back to normal. On one lot it was the fountain and a destroyed cat nip mouse that was throwing erros.

I'm having this problem also, I've noticed, on many of my lots now. They'll just stand around and do nothing, even on community lots, when free will is on and they have needs they could be doing something for. I wonder if it's an errored object in this case too... *shall check*
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Snowstorms lure Sims to the pool? on: 2007 May 20, 04:18:02
I have a house built on a few platforms in the middle of a lake, where some of the long platforms connect to the sidewalk. Usually the walkbys will just pass on the sidewalk, but when there's any snow at all they'll hop onto one of the platforms, go up the stairs, across the main house, down into the house, and then outside. It makes no sense whatsoever, the sidewalk doesn't even get snow on it really, so why do they have to go tracking through the house? *sigh* No pool here though, just the lake, but it's definitely the snow's fault.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Kitty Condo on: 2007 May 03, 00:22:18

Your evil cat looks just like our idiot. XD

Well, he's decided to be more emo than evil lately...
Heh! Gotta love the idiot cats. We have one of those, too. Cheesy
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deadly expensive hot tubs on: 2007 May 02, 23:33:51
I am going to try the fence fix, then, to at least keep them out during winter and storms... I wonder if there are any invisible gates, because the "room divider" fence strips that came with Pets seem pretty useless as is but would be much more unobtrusive than a real fence outside.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Kitty Condo on: 2007 May 02, 23:16:56
I wonder if it has to do with where the condos are placed? I had one cat try to sleep on it but kept being woken up by the radio which I always leave on. And the condos end up being in the living rooms since I have the most space there. I wonder if a hack exists to keep the pets from waking up around a TV/radio... my real cats (of which there are six between us) have no problem sleeping with the TV blaring.

They're contrary little snots, aren't they? Tongue Oh, they'll play with the cat toys, sure, but their favorites are Piece of String/Shoelace, Heart-Shaped Pencil Topper, and Ball of Foil.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deadly expensive hot tubs on: 2007 April 21, 01:16:00
I was definitely surprised that the non-playables didn't make a run for shelter when it was raining, the one time I was on a comm lot when it was. I guess a few of them eventually ended up crowded in the little park pavilion, chatting, but that may have been a coincidence...

I'd personally love a pie menu to toggle the tubs on and off altogether when it's winter or raining, etc. I forgot about a couple of visitors the other day who sat out in the tub during winter and eventually went home all pale. It's the same house where I had someone struck by lightning in the hot tub as well; it's a big lot so I can't babysit them, but they just won't leave it alone. It'd also be nice to make the hot tub unavailable when you don't want your visitors making a beeline for it and just sitting there being boring all the time, too Tongue
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Poll: How do you feel about accidental deaths in the Sims 2? on: 2007 April 01, 06:10:06
As I posted about wanting a plague forever ago, yeah, I'd definitely love to have more non-me-induced deaths in my 'hood. I do have a storyline going but I also like to see what happens with the Sims themselves, and that also affects what happens in the storyline. (I.e. one of the villains keeping someone's wife in the attic because he wouldn't stop rolling wants to interact with her... *whistle*) But, yeah, I've had a few choking deaths that were pled back, and one death by disease at a party because I got sick of trying to quarantine one of the diseases going around and just let them stay sick as visitors. That's about it, blah.

I'd love to see Sims dying in childbirth as they pop one out on the kitchen floor (maybe then I'd have a playable finally in the adoption pool!) and I'd love to see elders have heart attacks and Romance Sims get VD and random car crashes, etc etc etc. Of course, a lot of people don't want this stuff at all, which is why hacks are so great Tongue But I'm a writer at heart and I love the game because it allows me to have my own story with plot twists that can surprise me, with things that I didn't plan from start to finish *grin*
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Twins 3 times in a row? on: 2007 April 01, 05:31:09
I had three in a row too, right after installing NL, and another couple in a row around OFB I think. Definitely random, though I have had twins often enough that I tried and soon took out the triplet/quad hack... didn't need that many new Sims popping up. I found it interesting though that one half of my first set of twins in the game had twins of his own, and one of THOSE twins has also fathered twins now. The pattern will break soon, I'm sure, but it amuses me nonetheless Tongue

Meh, to satisfy my own curiosity... of 117 births in-game in my 'hood, 15 are twins and one was triplets. Two of those were thanks to the hack adjusting the odds. Never any cheesecake... don't think I've made it in-game yet, heh. That's kind of surprising, it feels like there were more, but I guess not!
71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LTW's on: 2007 March 27, 03:56:06
I've definitely been enjoying the new LTWs with Seasons - but I bet (nah, I know) that they didn't go ahead and enable the ones for Uni... sigh. So dumb, they could have done it right then and it would have been fine! They already spam the teenagers to go to college from the day they turn "12", they might as well have put those in!
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: What mods are you already begging for? on: 2007 March 22, 01:20:31
Thanks for your reply and pardon my manifesto... Cheesy

1) are you using harderjobs?  That removes most of the uni job bonus, so they don't start almost at the top of their career.
Yes, thanks, I am using it. But with really good mood / all motives full (plan well or go to Energizer just before going to job), they will anyway get the promotions practically every single day. Sad I am easily challenged, so I try to go through the career as quickly as possible, but I'd like it to be more impossible due to the practical reasons.

4) Monique's computers over on MTS2 already have a 'bank account' function where you can dump money into individual accounts.
Yes, but the problem is that if you remove the Downloads folder (for patching, upgrading etc), EVEN if you put it back before restarting the game, the Monique's bank accounts get reset. The simple object in inventory would be so much easier - no need to remember to whom the money belongs - it belongs to the one who has the wallet. Every salary/semester bonus etc. cold be put in the wallet of the respective sim, and thus prevent the confusions with splitting the money when the sims graduate in different times or the roommates with different monetary contribution move out to live separately.

Thanks anyway.  Smiley

PC-Sims.com has a "Banking" mini-expansion (all free) that might do what you're looking for. http://www.pc-sims.com/smb/showthread.php?t=5528 Particularly the "bankbook" item. I haven't used any of those items yet, but their army mini-ep amused me. Many many creative hacked objects at this site indeed.
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: tunnel vision parenting on: 2007 March 09, 22:11:58
Well, the quality of a "lopsided" attribute is often a matter of opinion in many cases, but encouraging is intended to work in this way. It's pretty hard to encourage someone to do one thing when you yourself insist on doing the wrong thing!

Aww, no "do as I say, not as I do"?
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Instant Loves Question on: 2007 March 09, 22:09:42
It's set to the non-static, so I'm not sure, but I imagine it's probably around four... and it's also likely because she isn't related to half the neighborhood like some of the others are, heh. I did try to set it to Very Low when she ended up in bed with a Sim I'd set to spouse only, but it didn't seem to help at all. I'm just surprised she hasn't gotten pregnant yet either, but I guess it's one of those things where some Sims are more fertile than others. Oh well, it does make it interesting...
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Instant Loves Question on: 2007 March 09, 02:31:33
I've had it happen the opposite way - noinstantloves doesn't seem to do anything for my Sims, especially when paired with ACR, which turned one of my Fortune Sims into the town nympho; she'll do anyone who's a two-bolter for sure, and even a few one-bolts, with an STR of 20ish or more, and they're alll always falling in love with each other. I imagine if she was a Romance Sim and actually got aspiration points for all this, she wouldn't be doing any of it Tongue
