26  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Same error, different data. Seasons won't load. on: 2007 October 20, 03:01:22
It seems rather random.  Sometimes it happens after I restart, but mostly it just happens whenever the heck it feels like it.  There seems to be no pattern to it, hence my problem.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere, but for the life of me, my search skills, in this forum, suck.

I have played sims, and dealt with issues with the sims, from the original version.  I'm relatively familiar with ways around bugs, but this just keeps happening to me.

I play my game, happily, for several hours.  I leave the house I'm currently playing, go back to the main neighborhood screen, close the game as recommended, come back either later in the day, or the next day, and the game won't start.

I get the opening splash screen, then nothing.

Normally, changing the name of the Sims2 file in my downloads, restarting from scratch, moving all my cc back in, and restarting seems to do the trick, but it's happening more and more often.  Am I doing something wrong?  Is there a faster way to get around this?

I run nearly exclusively MATY hacks.  The only one not a MATY hack, is the bigger families hack and the anti-waistband hack.  All my downloads are organized, and I delete things I don't use from the cc catalog in either CAS screen, or in batches directly from the files in my downloads folder.

Help?

Thank you SO much!   Grin

I'm sorry for bringing this up from the dead, but the links here aren't working.  Is there anywhere I could find the anti-waistband fix again?
30  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Where did the Dormies go? (No Dormies on move in.) on: 2007 September 06, 19:39:15
Oh dear!  I can't believe it was something so simple.   ("Doh!")  I didn't realize there was a nodormieregen hack installed.

Thank you for your help with zoning too!  MATY folks are the best!
31  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Where did the Dormies go? (No Dormies on move in.) FIXED! on: 2007 September 03, 18:00:07
I tried searching for the answer to this question, but I didn't have much luck.  Perhaps I don't know the right phrase to search with.

I have 3 dorms, at my University, that are in use.  2 are full of dormies and my created sims, but the last doesn't seem to be generating any dormies on move in.  Is it possible it's the lot?  Or should I be looking at my hacks?

I ONLY play with MATY hacks, and have not had any trouble, until now.  Hopefully someone can help me.  Thank you in advance, and if you need any more information I will be happy to provide it.

Edited to add:  While I'm at it, could someone tell me how to make custom dorms show up as dorms?  Most of the time, they only show as residential lots.  Is there a way to change zoning?

Is there any way this could be updated for the new EPs, or is there a thread already posted for this?

Where is this "Antiredundancy", and if I have installed this particularly piece of awesomeness, do I need it in my game?   Huh

Thank you for this!  I can't tell you how excited I am to try this in my game! Smiley

I've been following this thread, and was wondering where to find the new LTW hack, once it's been completed.  I'm working on trying to figure out where everything is here, but it's a bigger forum than I'm used to.  Please forgive my noobness.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another, I can't find ... thread. on: 2006 October 13, 20:34:00
Personally, I prefer the hacks from here.  They work the way they state they work, and I don't have to worry about them effecting something other than what they are expected to.  I am not interested in a huge thing that changes multiple levels of play, I just was wondering if there was an easier way to get new clothes for my sims that didn't involve a trip to a community lot.

It's horrific, isn't it?!  I just want it to go away!!   Cry

I just found another thread http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,5774.0.html about this, but still no real resolution.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do you manage your downloads? on: 2006 October 13, 08:28:21
Finally!

You're right, original Maxis content is missing.  I don't know how that could have happened, as I have not replaced any defaults with anything, and I have not deleted any Maxis content.

As you can see, in this photo:

there's SOMETHING wrong...  This only shows up in the catalog, and only on sims with default skintones... does this help?  What can I do now?
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How do you manage your downloads? on: 2006 October 13, 03:58:38
Yes, it's me again.  I'm sorry to be such a pest, but I've been silent and lurking for a while, and suddenly my entire sims world crashed.

I have played the sims for over a year now, with little trouble.  Today, after starting my game, I went to create a sim and noticed that something was VERY VERY wrong.  The hair was white with colored numbers, and the skin and clothes were transparent, and oddly colored...  The whole thing was like a nightmare.

*I attempted to disable custom content, and that did not fix the problem.
*I removed all the package files from the download folder, and that also did not fix the problem.
*I removed the entire Sims2 folder, and that DID work.

My questions now are:

 1.  How do I manage my custom content and downloads to keep this from happening again.

 2.  Is there any chance that I can salvage any of my custom neighborhood I had been working so desperately on for the last... oh... month and a half?

 3.  What did I do wrong?  How do yiou locate a problem file once it finds it's way into your game?

 4.  Is it really so wrong to be so frustrated and disgusted with this turn of events?

When I think about all the hours I spent collecting, sorting, and filing my custom content, I feel sick to my stomach.  When I think about having to do it all over again I can't help but get angry.  It sure would be nice if this damned game worked properly to begin with!
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another, I can't find ... thread. on: 2006 October 12, 23:27:52
I was really looking for the pile of clothes tool...  Something I did wreaked havoc in my game, all my default skins now show up funky colored, or white with colored numbers in patches.  I am still trying to fix it, but it is taking time.
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Another, I can't find ... thread. on: 2006 October 12, 15:38:55
As you can see, I am a noob, but I honestly have been trying to find the answer to my question before resorting to actually coming out and asking in a new thread.

I am unable to locate the buy sims clothing, from home...  Item?  Hack?  Object?  I've tried doing a search, but you all seem to talk about clothing and buying a LOT here at MATY.  Imagine that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
42  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies OFB and pre-OFB on: 2006 September 27, 00:16:03
I really need to thank you for your help, and the excellent resources you have provided here!

My Townies have all been created, and moved into town, now I need to make my downtownies.  I'm a little burnt out on the making part now, I'm ready for a break... maybe some dinner.

Is it possible to just use Maxis generated townies for University, Downtown, and OFB once the base neighborhood and townies have been created?  I think I can live with a few big mouths, squished noses, and squinty eyes... if nothing else, I can cow plant the ugly ones, and replace them later with custom sims, correct?

Really, thanks a lot for all the information provided here... there is a LOT to read, but it's SO nice to have a reliable source, finally!

Jordi:  Thank you VERY much!  This was very helpful.

I'm going to see what I can manage this afternoon and evening, as far as creating townies, downtownies, and such.  I have followed the instructions carefully, so hopefully it will work out for me. Smiley  I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Smiley
44  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies OFB and pre-OFB on: 2006 September 26, 16:58:10
Thank you for your reply.  So deleting DNA is unnecessary?  I want to create my own townies, but am seriously considering letting Uni and Downtown make theirs automatically.  This is possible, right?
45  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies OFB and pre-OFB on: 2006 September 26, 16:08:39
Is it absolutely necessary to have SimPE and create custom townies, and if so, where can I get it?   Huh
