Title: Body Skill with Stairs - Mod Request and/or Discussion
Post by: SockMonkey on 2006 June 16, 16:46:33
I love houses with lots of stairs, because I love watching those silly Sims walk up and down constantly.  There is a Silo in Veronaville that I had remodeled with the boxy equivalent of spiral exterior stairs.  I wish now that there were a mod to allow them to gain skill while using all those stairs.

I thought I had seen a mod somewhere, that allowed skilling, but I don't remember where.  I realize it would lack awesomeness (hint) but I would love to see one that could.  Has anyone else seen one?

No, but with 6 sims living in a 3-story house and using BUY, it's been pretty funny to watch them run up and down the stairs - especially when they get confused because several sims need the bathroom at once - they use the toilet in one and then run like crazy down the stairs to use the shower in the other.  Very entertaining.  Now, to add skilling in that, it would boil down to BUYASY (bathroom uses and skills you).  Or BUSY for short  :P

Hey, it's only rude rude in the US, in the UK it's really just a bit insulting!   (We spell the rude meaning a bit differently over here!)

So very true, unfortunately...we're a nation of prudes.  ::)

Not at all, it's just that in the UK it just means busy idiot, which is insulting, but not rude!

Actually, I strongly believe the U.S. is (in general) prudish.  Look at the whole Janet Jackson thing.  I mean... who cares?  It's a tit.  A lot of people have them.

I thing the UK is similar - it's and Anglo-Saxon thing!  Europeans are in general far less bothered about things like that.

I don't know -- when we were in London a couple of years ago, there was a lot more nudity on TV than you ever see here in the US (unless you have a premium movie channel). It was after 10pm or so, but there it was.  And somehow I didn't turn into a homicidal raving sex predator lunatic because I saw tits on TV -- funny that. :)

Hmm. There's an idea, fitness for stair-climbing.

But you have to remember, the Anglo-Saxons are few and far between these days, and most of our laws anyway are directed by Europe!

There are also different ways of showing nudity - it can be a natural progression of events in a film, and without any desire to shock, merely to interpret a novel or play, or it can be done with the intent to titillate, and therefore it will shock some viewers.

And I agree, seeing something like that on TV won't turn you into a raving sex lunatic!  But it may feed the addiction if you already are one!

Yea, and beer ads are bad for alcoholics, and ads for Vegas and other casinos bad for gambling addicts, and ads for Hershey's bad for chocolate addicts, and adds for any fast food restaurant bad for folks with eating disorders, and yada yada yada. :) It's like anything else, where there's both a good side and a bad side.

What galls me here is that the folks that complain about what they see on TV seem to have the only TVs in the country without a channel changer or even an off button. No one is forcing them to watch.  Fortunately, there's the cable/satellite channels and premium channels for those of us who are adults and can handle nudity, cursing and adult issues without crawling up into a little ball and sucking our thumbs while crying "Mommy! They said a bad word on TV!"

Did you hear that CBS was appealing a fine for an episode of Without a Trace on the basis that none of the complainers had even seen the show? It's not even that these folks don't have a channel changer. It's just that they're close-minded control freaks who have to stick their nose into everyone else's business.

I would agree with that, it's like a certain lawyer who complains about the Sims2!

However, I think there are some things that should not be shown on any channel, but I think the anti-hard-core porn legislation would cover that, and since televising that kind of thing would probably result in prison and even a place on the sex-offenders register, I can't see that anything that offensive would be shown!

As for porn in general, a great deal of it is pay per view anyway, so these people who complain must have money to burn if they are going to watch something just to complain about it!  Also, since they do have to pay to see the programme, the chances are they haven't paid, in which case the company has a case, although I suppose then they'll claim to have watched it on someone else's TV!

You don't have to have seen something, or have known what it was about, to complain about it, though. Witness Jack Thompson saying the Sims 2 was anatomically correct in EVERY detail. And proceeding to say that was worse than Grand Theft Auto. He thinks the naked human body is worse than murder -- well, that would be the U.S. for you.

There are people like that everyhere!  Anyone over 40 in the UK will remember the outspoken Mrs. Mary Whitehouse who set herself up as the guardian of public morality for years!  However, to give her her due, she probably did watch at least some of the programmes she complained about, she certainly seemed to have a fair idea of what was in them!

I think, though, a lot of people complaining about something when they don't normally do so is a sign that something is really wrong - usually people just grumble a bit and get on with thier lives.  when they all decide to write letters or make phone calls to register their opinion, it can act as the kind of counterbalance that we need to keep society from losing its way.

i would have to go with the us being more prudish in general.    note im born and lived us'er for 50 years.. i noticed this some time ago.    and i was working with a british collegue that i discussed this with.    he pointed out, ever so gleefully,  that the religious zealots had LEFT the UK for the US  and had then unfortunately taken over much of our moral code.   the brits then being perfectly happy to be rid of the zealots went on happily without their influence.   the only thing 'wild and free'  about US is in regards to guns.  where as had been noticed, murder is considered okay for young people to watch, but you cant watch a mother feeding her baby in the evolved and proper way.

*giggle* titilate!

I wonder how one would start and stop stair skilling?  Perhaps tiles in front of top and bottom of the stairs?  But would those be one way only?  So would you need an "up only" stairs and a "down only" stairs?

I wonder if jogging could be made into a body skill?  So you could run your sim around the lot and gain a bit.

What about body and charisma points for woohoo? ;D

I like the jogging, and why shouldn't they leave the lot and come back an hour later with increased body skill?  I mean, active sims are forever jogging by other sims' houses!

If you couldn't call them back quickly I would never use that, though it's a nice idea. Jogging around the lot would be fun!

If body skill can't be built climbing staircases, What about a new object, two steps from a whole set of stairs, which the sim walks up and down (without turning) while increasing the body skill! You get them in real life, I guess they have some fancy name  :-\

Why would you want to call your sim back quickly?  It would only be like getting an alarm installed or going for a spin.  As long as they aren't the only adult or teen on the lot and there's a baby or toddler around, it's not a problem.

That's precisely why. I never go for a spin, because what's the point in losing a sim for an hour or whatever? I just don't like it. As for getting the alarm installed, I take the sim running off as payment for the alarm.

Real handy for those romance sims who want to get rid of their partner for an hour to sneak in a woohoo with someone else. :)

Just long enough with Casual Woohoo!  And of course, the photobooth is quick!

I never thought of it that way...so it does have a use!

Though I don't really like married sims having affairs :( it's anathema to the perfect world that exists in my 'hood!

Since romance sims don't mind living with someone, but usually don't like getting married, it's not an affair -- just a little cheating on the side. :)

Mine usually end up getting married, though, if the partner is NOT romance!  And I have quite a few romance couples that I made married in CAS, since that doesn't affect aspiration points!  And OK, they get those wants, but unless you help them, they rarely do anything about them - unlike those randy family sims!

Well, the UK has always been a bit on the peripheral, maybe I should have said mainland Europeans.
