TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moved mailboxes & trashcans
|

If you leave the facing 180 degrees clear and accessable, you shouldn't really have any problems. I've only ever experienced problems if the mailbox is closley located adjacent to walls or fences (possibly the Captain Hero carpool causing the problem, as the Sim needs to reside to the side for the carpool flying animation). With that said, I always move the trash can and mailbox on lots. The Backdoor Lane lots are awesome, I have a new hood specifically with those. Hopefully plasticbox will create more community lots though. If you don't want multiple trash cans (I had problems with sims favouring a single bin and walking great miles to make use of it), Windkeeper made decorative fake objects which are equally as effective. Available here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=153293. The mailbox recolours are also good: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=151949. On TSR, there is a similar set of recolours which you can apply in-game with the design tool instead of only a single replacement file found on MTS2.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best aspiration to fulfill fears?
|

I would go with Fortune or Pleasure. Fortune, well, a lot of the fears tend to revolve around work - like miss the carpool - of course, that can lead to being fired and with no money, the repo man. Perfect cycle of fears.
Pleasure tends to sink into aspiration failure in my games because I don't typically go crazy with all the fun objects and visiting community lots. Most of the wants and fears are less long term and tend to take too much maintenance.

I've had the weird pet food trail, but it is more concentrated into a stringed line than the screenshot. The caged food likely caused it although I don't think the Caged Pet Fixes correct it.
Oh EP4, how I abhor you... yet feel compelled to install every expansion pack.

I uninstalled Pets a few days ago, heh. Now I'm back to running NL with OFB.
There's a lot more bugs with werewolves (especially wants) than included in the patch, argh. One issue I experienced was "Turn <sim> into werewolf" never got fulfilled after a successful savage attack.
Here's to hoping Seasons does not follow the Uni/Pets buggy archetype.

The start page, lower icon, alerts and messages are all fake attempts to infect your computer further. It's the Smitfraud malware. There is a removal guide available here including a tool. It requires booting your computer into Safe Mode. Other software that can remove the infection are: ewido, PrevX, Spybot (possibly) and most Anti-Virus packages (AVG/Avast). You can secure your computer with programs like SpywareBlaster or switching to alternate internet browsers (Firefox/Opera).

I've been going through and organizing and deleting ugly/broken items too. What I would REALLY kill for is a program out of game that would load hair and clothing so I could view em as they look IN GAME without loading the game, so I could delete them faster. Is there a plugin for simpe or something? I've been deleting hair IN GAME for the past two weeks [started with about 2500 files in my HAIR folder], and it's just rediculous. I want to play, not spend a million years just deleting ugly stuff.
You can preview clothing and genetics in Body Shop. It is located in the /CSBin/ program files directory of your most recent expansion or stuff pack named TS2BodyShop.exe. Base game path listed below. Change bold folder to latest pack name. For example "The Sims 2 Pets", "The Sims 2 Glamour Life Stuff" or "The Sims 2 Open For Business" "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\ The Sims 2\CSBin\TS2BodyShop.exe"

What expansion packs do you have? (University/Nightlife/Business/Pets)
Can you interact with visitors on other residential lots?
Do you have any custom content hacks? Specifically, any dealing with actions for Sims flagged as visitor.

1) Ban certain NPCs. The NPCs you can choose to ban if you want to are: The special Uni NPCs: the professors, cheerleaders, cow & llama mascots, coaches, & streakers. The special NL NPCs: the gypsy, Mrs. Crumplebottom, and grand vampires. Petz version only: The special OMGPETZ! NPCs: strays, wolves, and skunks. The newspaper and mail delivery people. Never make friends with canines and glowing eyes. Lycanthropy: Solved.

I had some weird occurrences with Werewolves in a brief Pets testing, especially applying vampirism to the mixture.
Apart from a wide-selection of boolProp testing cheat menu options not working or falling flat, my created Werepire later got stuck with the skin tone during early-hour transformation and even after taking the cures - with or without fangs, cape and garlic-abhorrence.
Oddly enough the NL Gypsy sells the new cure when the game information tips state the Obedience Trainer is the wholesale market to buy cures to supernatural moonlight strolls. Competition? Price check!

Just a note that the in-game content browser will not be available should you forbid all internet access to The Sims 2 executables. Sufficient allowed permissions for Sims2/Sims2 EPx.exe Exchange access would be TCP outgoing server connections on port 80. This allows the program to obtain web pages through the HTTP protocol and possibly download the Sims2Pack files. Always be sure on the authenticity of software providers and common sense on questioning whether an application requires internet-access. I personally have never used the content browser or autoPatch updates and prefer good old fashioned manual browsing. Routers make great physi cal hardware firewalls and are commonly able to filter networ k traffic efficiently.

I'm impressed how this one guy can produce more grounded packs based on holidays and seasons compared with official works. The quality on the latest "Halloween" is not as great as the Summer Pack, but considering the cost, it's extraordinary.

The images appear within the lot resources. Here's a snippet from the mod link I posted earlier giving instructions on how to export the painting images. I'm not sure about reward camera photos, take a look at the other Texture Images available with different prefixes using SimPE. 2. Find the lot package file that contains the information about the lot where the sim-created piece of art resides. For example, C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\My Documents\EA Games\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\N001\Lots\N001_Lot47.package. This can be an easy or a difficult task, depending on how many lots exist in that neighborhood.
3. Once you find and load the correct lot into SimPE, click on "Texture Image" in the Resource Tree. This should produce a list of textures that are used for that particular lot. Look for one with a name that begins with, "#0x6f" and/or contains "!painting_". Eventually, you should be able to find the work of art in that list of textures. If your Plugin View window is open in SimPE, you should be able to see what they look like.
4. In the Plugin View window, right-click on the texture image and select, "Export...," and then save it as a PNG file. Save the file wherever you can easily find it later.
