1251  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fix Request: Peein' Klaus on: 2005 November 24, 00:20:55
But how can he leave you coal if he comes and there's no cookies? Do you make them and then snarfle them all before he gets there?

Hey, I had that happen. Stupid visitors I hadn't known were there snuck into the kitchen and ate them all. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why I got coal. Then I saw the two townies in the hottub out back and it all became clear.

I don't have too many pet peeves in custom content, but sorry that's just one of them. Most things I can tell by the picture whether I will want it or not but those eyes with the borders are like a lot of houses I've downloaded, looks nice in the pictures but not so nice when you actually get it in your game and play with it. Tongue

I've actually been forced to fix up some of my favorite eyes to get rid of the borders. Helaene seems to do all her eyes with them. I can't play without her eyes, but the borders do screw up some of the cinematics that I'm particularly fond of.

So... I agree with you. Down with eye-borders!

You know, when Enhancer was released, some nice person over on MTS2 posted a crack that made it run forever in free trial mode. Moderators zapped it into oblivion mere moments later. Isn't that a damn shame?

Major shame.   Grin

Yes. Such a shame the nice person went and uploaded it to his own website, where it lives to this very day. Shame, shame, shame, I say. There are such dirty, immoral, thieving scumbags in this world, it's downright frightening.
1254  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Has anyone experienced objects not allowed to be placed on a wall? on: 2005 November 23, 08:05:32
So the objects in question did not come out of a sim's inventory?

Did you use the floor elevation cheat code when building the house? This sometimes creates unusable tiles because somehow they become very slightly higher or lower than the rest of the floor. This is often seen in the fact that if you go up one storey, the transparent squares that show up around walls will be missing or look dashed instead of solid in the area that is affected.
1255  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: It's begun... on: 2005 November 23, 07:39:12
You can go through the regular Object Listing instead of the silly calendar. Select Exchange from the top bar and choose Objects.
1256  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is this bad? on: 2005 November 23, 06:25:41
I had a hard time figuring out the Singles and Curious family tree.  Someone said that they were related, and I was trying to figure out how.  It seems messed up to me that not only did PT#9 and Glarn Curious have two kids together (did they have a Preg4All hack??  Maybe it was the TL&D  Roll Eyes), but then PT#9 married one of Glarn's kids!  Is that not messed up??  Even though they aren't technically related, it seems somewhat incestuous to me.

It does look very wrong on the family tree, doesn't it?

By the way, this is exactly why I made all the family trees. When you don't see everyone laid out on one page, it's very difficult to understand the relationships. The way the tree works, where you click one sim and it causes several others to vanish from view, makes it really hard to use as a tracker for actual family relationships.
1257  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: It's begun... on: 2005 November 23, 06:19:38
Maybe it'll be among the free downloads. It's worth that much...

[edit] Just went to see what today's freebie was, and the EA site is down againRoll Eyes

For a second, I thought it was the mistetoe, but no, it's a potted plant.
1258  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is this bad? on: 2005 November 23, 04:05:47
okay, that makes sense, I never looked that closely at the Siingles family tree. I always thought PT9 raised the girls, silly me Cheesy Very nice tree BTW

She isn't actually on anyone's tree, since she isn't related to anyone living. She is a "lost" sim that most people don't even know about. It's only by browsing memories, character files, and screenshots, that you can piece together who she is and how she fits in. The clues are all there though.

I have too much time on my hands, don't I?
1259  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is this bad? on: 2005 November 23, 01:10:26
The dark haired girl to the right of PT9, who is she? I don't remember seeing her on my tree. And if she's a maxis made character, what was the point? She didn't contribute to the gene pool, so why is she there Huh

That's Glabe Curious, Glarn's first wife, who was left to raise the Singles alone after Glarn selfishly abandoned the family to pursue a relationship with Kitty. She didn't contribute to the genepool but she is part of the family history and in order to be complete I felt like she had to be included. She also serves the purpose of showing that Glarn was not married to Kitty when he had the Singles.

Isn't there a hack somewhere that lets ladies come back pregnate after an alien abduction?  An alien kid with Polination Tech's genes would be more tolerable than most of the kids the social worker has tried to unload on me.

1261  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The whole adopting children business. on: 2005 November 22, 23:46:34
BTW I always adopt babies because I want to name them. I don't want to get stuck raising a kid named Goopy. (Shudders.)

I had a family that adopted a million kids because I wanted to see just how bad they'd look. They got two Ratna's in a row. Ratna is almost as bad as Goopy. Almost.

Hey, do you suppose we are hurting the feelings of any real people named Goopy, with the way we all hate on Goopy? Or can we safely assume that anyone named Goopy has grown skin as thick as an elephant by now?
1262  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The whole adopting children business. on: 2005 November 22, 23:40:06
While we are at that, Motoki, I 'adopted' Lucy Burb via the shrub. At the time I was not aware that she was part of a family in the sim bin, I never paid attention to that one at all (I know, I know, make room for me in that 'pointing and laughing' corner Trepie) She's now a playable sim, out of Uni and living in Pleasantview. However, when I looked once again at the sim bin, there she still is with her parents. What happened? Will I have two Lucys running around should I decide to move the family out of the bin and into Pleasantville? Will my game mess up? Will my computer explode?

She isn't really there. The game doesn't update the family picture until they are loaded/saved. So it will continue showing the three of them until the game is given a reason to update the picture, such as by moving them into a lot.
1263  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is this bad? on: 2005 November 22, 22:23:11
Here's my Curious-Smith-Singles tree. This was the best that could be done under the circumstances.

1264  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is this bad? on: 2005 November 22, 22:15:43
What should I do?

Four families were really not enough to start a whole town with, if your intention was to have them interbreed and never add new blood.

If it were me I would continue breeding them just to see how messed up the tree can get. Other than that, your only option may be to add more sims to the neighborhood. Townies are just TOO ugly to use.

Yeah, how'd you do that?

Lots and lots of cutting and pasting in Photoshop. Cheesy

I do it for all my families and have done it for all the Maxis families. It does take a lot of time if the tree is complicated. You wouldn't believe what it took to get the Curious-Smith-Singles household sorted out into one tree.

1266  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Safe to rename? on: 2005 November 20, 02:48:08
If two-deep was a limit before, then it's changed with Nightlife. I've gone four-deep so far, with no problems. That's four subfolders beyond \Downloads, i.e.:
\Downloads\subfolder\another_subfolder\yet_another_subfolder\omg_another_subfolder\file.package

I read somewhere ~ can't remember where ~ from an actual Maxoid that there is currently no limit on how far you can take subfolders. Whether that applied only to Nightlife, I don't recall.

I have stuff 5 subfolders deep and it all still works.

There's a thread here about the fiasco that was the Black and White 2 release.
That'll tell you all you need to know.

Yup, everything I have to say about that game is in that post. It's not that it isn't good, it just isn't what the ads and the company claim. My major problem is with replayability. There is no "free" or "sandbox" mode, and the game gives you zero reason to play it again after winning it. Multi-player mode might save this game, but as it is now, it just isn't worth the $.
1268  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who's getting the x-mas pack? on: 2005 November 19, 02:11:57
The walls and floors don't count toward the 40 item count.

What? You're going to pass it on to some other poor bugger? You meanie!  Roll Eyes

Oh yes, I'm passing on the misery this holiday season. I have about 30 games I'm giving away. Let them sit on someone else's shelf for a change.

1271  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How many CDs should there be for SimCity 4 Deluxe? on: 2005 November 19, 00:04:03
I have a quick question.

I dug out my copy of SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition, planning to give it to someone as a gift this Thanksgiving.

The case seems to have room for three CDs, but I only have two CDs in there (CD1 and CD2). Am I missing one, or is the case just weirdly made? If there is a third CD, was it just some bonus content that isn't necessary to run the game? I don't want to turn my room upside down looking for this thing if it's not necessary. Embarrassed
1272  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Movies (the game) on: 2005 November 18, 23:24:02
I have The Movies, but still haven't installed. I've been waiting to see some real-player reviews in case this turns out to be yet another B&W2. I played that for two days and have not felt any desire to lay a finger on it since. Good thing the holidays are coming up and I can get rid of it.
1273  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request- NoGoldDiggers Hack on: 2005 November 18, 21:38:11
Couldn't this be done as a non-global object? Something like a stack of bills that is sent off in the mail, then the mail person delivers another piece of mail. If the baby isn't the father's, the cheating reaction gets triggered. Maybe it could be linked to whatever happens when a sim sees the spouse kissing another sim. This way the player decides when to use the object, so there is no need to check for marriage or alien births or anything. Besides, it makes more sense than having the father know by magic that the baby is not his.
1274  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who's getting the x-mas pack? on: 2005 November 18, 20:42:23
So how many actually bought the pack?? Gosh! It looks like a lot bought it!

You know what they say about "looks." Cheesy

Now that brings me to another point, since EA is now seeing simolean signs in their eyes with people actually buying this pack, it sounds like we're going to get a lot more of them and probably more frequently than an expansion pack.

I wouldn't mind that, actually. The game gets boring pretty fast after an EP. Within a month it's all old and stale. I think the Holiday pack was just TOO themed and specific. There is basically only one way to play with the objects, so if you don't do holidays/seasons, then you are practically guaranteed not to like it. If they did something like a Child-themed pack, then at least that could be used all throughout the game. It can get tedious when you're downloading player-made content and you don't have everything ever released, but as long the creators document the base object used, it's the same as hunting for the custom mesh when downloading recolors.
1275  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who's getting the x-mas pack? on: 2005 November 18, 08:18:15
Heh, just tried the damned thing and whenever my sim tries to make the Christmas cookies she goes to pull them out of the oven, grabs a plate out of the oven, then a jump and the plate and cookies are gone. POOF!

Mine can make cookies without problems. But Santa is damn annoying, everyone runs to hug him for some reason. I like Father Time better. At least he explodes.

I found a glitch with the fireworks. The red ones suspended from the ceiling. Don Lothario lit them, got burned, and then got the little flame from the lighter permanently stuck a short distance in front of his hand. This did not go away after several showers, carpool, and a number of other things including a forced reset. I finally deleted him and reloaded the lot, and that fixed it.

Also, the fireworks last for ten seconds. Someone needs to mod that cone thing so that it lasts at least an hour. I wouldn't mind having a permanently lit one for decorative purposes. I bet it would look cool at night clubs as a centerpiece.

Oh, and my very first party ended with the XMas tree blowing up. Did it used to do that? I used it many times before (it's the free one from the Exchange) and it never caught fire until now. Although, I have some fire-modifying hacks, so it's possible one of them prevented it from catching fire. I took all hacks out to install the Pack, just in case.
