Title: The wonderful world of loading screen terrors?
Post by: figmentthedragon on 2009 September 28, 08:35:55
So I realize that I am likely to endure fiery rage for asking this, but if my mods all worked spectacularly, and then once I added awesome mod back, (I used to have it... and it used to work!  ;D) it freezes instantly at the loading screen (after the annoying movie crap) does that still mean that my framework dealio is incorrect? If so, how do I correct? This has been driving me crazy for days.
I'm reinstalled my game like, 4 times (for a multitude of reasons) but it doesn't even work with ONLY awesomemod (and my awesomemod config thing) in the packages folder. Which means I screwed up somewhere along the line, right?
I dont even care if it's some ridiculous mistake, as long as I can get it to work. My game blows without it.

Have you tried playing with just AM?  No other mods?  It might be that AM is conflicting with one of your other mods, especially as you indicated it works with your other mods, then dies when you add AM in.

Remove all mods, run with AM and AM config file only, if game works, add your other mods one at a time until you find the one that is conflicting.

Your sig is way too big.

As for your problem, try deleting the cache files in Docs. Core mods need to be able to update the script cache in particular, which sometimes fails. If the script cache is not consistent, the game will not load.

Using 3booter will automatically clear this cache on each load by the way.

Yeah, sorry about that.
I noticed that and trashed it.
If I take out all mods except for AM, it still freezes, so I'll try to delete the cache files and see.
Thanks!
..I'm thinking this may be easier if I wasn't on a mac.

Well, I deleted the cache files, and it's still freezing.
Any other options?

Fig, there are other Mac users here. Other than 3booter not working for us, the rest of this is a snap. If you've installed the framework properly then using AM is as easy for us as for a Windows user.

Suggestion if the cache-clearing doesn't work: reinstall your framework using the mac tool from Marhis. Find here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15484.0.html (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15484.0.html)

Have you patched your game?  AM won't work without the 1.3 or 1.4 patch.

that's just the thing, I installed framework WITH that installer.
Which is what boggles me.

And yes, all is patched and well.
My game actually wont run unpatched. Nice feature/glitch, imo.

Which version of OSX are you running? There have been reports of Snow Leopard causing issues.

I'm going to have to say that AM is not compatible with OSX Snow Leopard in its current form.

I, too, have the "I'm not even going to try to load!" crash problem. Tested extensively, including AM on its own. It doesn't work. The game will go through the opening video (nointro doesn't work anymore either, dammit) and just sit at the loading screen. As stated, it isn't "Old Car Syndrome", instead an hourglass appears and the game just.....sits at 0%. I dumped cache files multiple times during my troubleshooting. I rebooted. I reinstalled. I have finally given up.

I had a few other mods that no longer work, also. Don't know what they are cause I just went in and weeded out my mods folder a bit. AM is the only "I really want to keep you..." file left. :\

0% load is Framework Fail.

Ah! Success!

I wonder when that got corrupted. Ah well. Fixed now :D Thanks for reminding me about that file. I had completely forgotten about it.

I know this is dumb to ask but what file got fixed? what exactly did you do? I'm really desperate to get the am to work.
