TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How many Sims are you playing?

I don't know about anyone else, but all of my neighborhoods always ME in them. A CAS made sim self, alter ego, reicarnation, whatever you want to call it. Because really, I see no point to this game if you're not going to have yourself somewhere in there mixing it up with the other sims. And in case you were wondering, that's him in my avatar. I'll usually find myself a nice townie or an availiable pre-made sim that doesn't have any attachments to any other sims, have them settle down and establish a family of about two or three kids before I start playing the other families in an effort to mix the family bloodlines with the second generation. Ever since Uni came out I've grown a strong attachment to Stella Terrano, and usually have my sim fall in love with her and get them married. I don't know, I guess I have a thing for exotic women. And being a space alien is about as exotic as you can get. I play Pleasentview mostly. But I've been playing Strangetown more and more lately. Sometime in the near future I'll force myself to play Veronaville. I would start my own custom neighborhood. But I like the pre-made neighborhoods, and I guess I'm just too lazy and/or uncreative enough to start a neighborhood from scratch. I also let a little infidelity happen in controled situations. Because it happens in real life more than we'd like to admit. But I make sure the guilty party gets caught and that they pay the price. It usually happens in the form of groveling and appologizing profusely. Or if I deem it fit, a total break up. Speaking of which, I've never seen a break up be a good memory untill NL came out. Reading "Boy, am I glad I dropped that loser." in the memory caption gave me a good laugh.

Yeah, it is kind of annoying. Even moreso now with NL. I could see if maybe if they are 8 9 or 10 nice but 5 6 or 7 nice? I'd like to think I'm nice, or can be lol, but I ain't that nice. Also, I think I need to get enemies accumulate back again because somehow when my sims get robbed they seem to magically go from -100/-100 to 100/100 with the burglar in a fairly short time with no interactions. I've noticed this happening a lot too. Mostly with burglers. It happened to Cassandra Goth too after she got finished being furious with Don for leaving her at the alter.

While I was playing Chloe Singles tonight I sent her down to that Cold Issue Clothing store to buy her a cell phone and the other electronic gadgets (because she spun up some wants for them and that was the first place I though of with a kiosk). And while I was there no less than ten different fights broke out. Round 1 began when Crystal Curious (formerly Crystal Vu) decided to poke the wrong townie. Poor girl. It seems Lazlo is the only sim she gets along with. Round 2 began when Crystal decided to pick on Chloe instead. And Chloe wasn't having any of that. Round 3 began when some other townie started shoving everyone's favorite conspiracy girl around Even the "so sugary sweet it'll make your teeth rot out" Jenny Smith got into the action in Round 4. The biggest surprise of the night though was the the conclusion of Round 3. I totally didn't expect her to win. I think I used the MaxMotives cheat about four times during that outing. Because I just couldn't bear to make Chloe go back home and miss out on all of that fun. In the end she came home with five wins, three loses, two new enemies, and much trash can kicking in the future. The other fights were mostly townie vs. townie. Ms. Crumplebottom was hanging around outside too feverisly knitting whatever that is she keeps in her purse. I wish you could interact with her. I so would've kicked her butt too given half a chance. Meanwhile, down the road in Pleasentview, much the same is going on. Even in the same store no less.

Just compared all of the file sizes. (They're on Disk 2 btw. Sims2EP_2/compressed.zip/TSData/Res/NeighborhoodTemplate/D001/Lots) And they all match up. I just don't get it...
I've done a lot of work on this neighborhood too. I'm not going to do something as drastic as a reinstall for two crummy lots.

Yeah, I did go to one of them on a date and ended up having to quit the game at the loading screen because of this. But its doing this in both Pleasentview and Strangetown. Would something like this affect them in all neighborhoods?

I'm wondering if anyone else is having a problem like this. I've got two downtown lots that absolutely refuse to load. The Hub and The Lulu Lounge. I'm not sure what the problem is. It will just sit at the loading screen and do nothing. I first noticed it when I tried to go to them on a date, and ended up having to minimize the game and killing it with Task Manager. I even try to go into the lots in build mode and the same thing happens.
To those who probably think I'm not waiting long enough, I tried to go into one in build mode last night and went to take a shower while it was loading (and I take long showers). And when I got back it was STILL loading.
So, lot corruption? Bad install? I don't know. Any ideas?

If its one thing I've learned its that Strangetown Bella is compareable to the Anti-Christ. She is pure evil and should be killed by any means necessary the very moment she walks by your house. And she is SO FAKE! Really, you just shouldn't socilize with her at all. Goopy is the same way, but to a lesser extent. The same goes for Marsha. Oh yeah, and there IS a twins cheat. Maxis is just being a big meanie and won't tell us what it is.

I had never noticed Dustin bringing Angela home everyday. I guess because I had made a new house and moved the Brokes in immediatly after starting the neighborhood anew. That house they live in at the begining is barely suitable for one sim, let alone four...
I want to play around with Veronaville some, but there's that Capp family that has six members and only $20k. Not sure how I'm gonna handle that without resorting to throwing five beds and a crib out on lawn. I guess I'll see if JM's Moneyorder still works and get Consort to help them out, as that seems less like cheating than Motherload does.

I never understood why anyone would want Don and Cassandra to get married. I just couldn't do that to the poor girl. Besides, what would you do with Darren then? Let him pine away untill he dies old and lonely?
Besides, Don and Nina need to pass down those Romance genes to the second generation. Pleasentview is sorley lacking in Romancer teens.

Well, good to know its working right in some form.
I'm currently drawing up plans to make a "Pleasentview Memorial Cemetary" since I don't really like Gothier Green. And I need to do it soon. The ghosts at the Goth's house are getting rather hostle ever since I built that mini-mausoleum for them...

I'm reluctant to remove nocorruptdeath as well, as this fixes a game exploding bug. And I don't see what it would hurt to leave it in.
For carpoolfix, none of the friends my sims have been bringing home have been dressed for their appropriate rank since I installed NL. But since it fixes carpool clog other than what can happen with the helicopter, I'll leave it in.
And it seems nocheeringhack fixes schoolbus clog, so back into the Download folder with that!

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hacks/Mods made redundant by the new patch. Preliminary List.
|

Since I've seen a few people ask for this, and I was wondering myself. I decided to go throught the bugfix list for both the Uni and NL patch and see which hacks/mod would be made redundant.
Feel free to add on if I miss anything, because I'm sure I'll overlook something. I'm comparing this list to the list of hacks in my downloads folder. All of which came with the MATY .zip package.
1. * Eliminated a bad reset that prevented Sims from becoming enemies of one another.
nmefix.package
2. * Sims no longer play the extended browse animation when purchasing an item from the clothing rack.
fasterbuyclothes.package
3. * Shortened the amount of time that children show their A+ report cards off to their parents
nocheeringhack.package
4. * Fixed issues that occur when the same Sim dies on multiple lots.
nocorruptdeath.package *possibly*
5. * Lowered frequency of Child Sims aborting queue actions in favor of greeting their parents as they returning from work.
hugginghack.package
6. * Fixed a bug that prevented large groups of Sims from entering the helicopter carpool.
carpoolfix.package *not sure here as I've never had more than one sim get in a helicopter at one time*
7. * Sims who write great novels now receive the memory for "Wrote Great Novel" rather than the Sim who answered the royalty check phone call.
noplagiarism.package
8. * Fixed a problem that caused pianos that have been owned for a certain amount of time to cease providing fun.
pianofix.package
9. * Level 6 Greek Houses can now accept pledges
fratfix.package
10. * Eliminated a problem where Greek Houses were not accepting the proper amount of pledges per level.
Same as #9.
11. * The "Cheer Up" interaction no longer causes crushes between Sims.
norandomcrush.package. *weather this was fixed with the career reward objects has yet to be seen*
12. * Sims no longer get crushes from playing handhelds together.
handheldfix.package *weather they still meet themselves has yet to be seen*
13. *Fixed a reset that occurred after multiple generations of large families that prevented death from completing properly for Sims in large, multi-generational families. Symptoms included missing inheritance, tombstones, and a lower Sim population cap per lot.
nocorruptdeath.package
14. *Fixed a rare occurrence of a reset that would leave a user unable to save or quite after a Sim gave birth.
badbirthfix.zip *possibly, I've never run into this one*
15. * Wants for specific electronic devices no longer roll in after a Sim owns that electronic device.
nogizmowants.package *if this even worked in the first place. It wasn't in Boris' list*
And that's all I can come up with. Again, feel free to add on if I missed anything, or if I've got something totally wrong.

The best I can remember, over-population was the cause of most of the game exploding bugs. Up too and including corruted death (no inheritence) and the final exam bug.
Since it says they fixed the corrupt death, wouldn't this mean bye-bye to the final exam bug?
Even though I've personally never experience the final exam bug, I have been a victim of the "Its high time so-and-so go back to the real world" bug.

* Sims can now Propose > Move In or Propose > Marriage towards non player young adult Sims that they became engaged to while in college. I take it this means Adult sims can propose marriage to a Young Adult sim. When I first read it I thought it meant two Young Adults could marry.

I found the lack of those as turn ons/offs somewhat strange too. But personally, I'm more disapointed that they have vampirism as a turn on/off, but they don't have alien or zombie.

I had something like this happen with the Pleasents after I re-installed with NL. Except I could click on the dish/bowl at all. Its like it became part of the table. Though after a while the dish did spoil and the green smoke and flys appeared. Finally I just used Moveobjects to sell the table and bought a new one.
I didn't wait to see if the maid could clean it up.

I've seen those pictures and it does indeed seem that Lola and Chloe are twins. But when you first start playing the Singles household they're different ages. With Lola being the oldest of the four and Chloe being the youngest. So realisticly the timeline should be Jenny, Lola, Pascal, Vidcund, Lazlo, and Chole. However, that doesn't hold any water when you compare all of that to the pictures availiable in story mode...
Whoever's in charge of making the neighborhood stories over at Maxis took this one out of the oven before it was fully baked.
