126  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building/Upgrading a PC for TS2 on: 2008 January 20, 22:19:07
Unfortunately, Hegelian, cheap is the main consideration here. The only local independent builder here I've found hasn't even bothered to return my inquiring email, so it doesn't look like they're too damn eager for my business. I also cannot use newegg since they don't ship to Canada. Jolrei was nice enough to provide me with a few computer-building sites for Canadians, but (like I said earlier) I know absolutely nothing about shit like power sources and whatnot, and what I can afford to skrimp on and what I can't. Since a custom-built PC would not include an OS, the price I could afford to spend on it would go down dramatically (by the price of a WinXP OS disk). I don't really think I'll be able to get what I want in a computer for a mere $550 here (since I'd still have to spend $250+ on XP).  Cry

Overpriced or not, that computer I linked to seems to be the cheapest PC that I can find that still has most of them items I want in it (I'd still be upgrading the video card), but now that I know I can't use a System Restore Disk on any pre-purchased computer, my price range has now dropped from $800 to $550.

ETA: On the other hand, if I can get this Win XP OS disk on its own (and it's not just an "EP"), I might have a better chance.
127  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building/Upgrading a PC for TS2 on: 2008 January 20, 08:01:23
Why don't you just buy a custom built pc? You can choose the component and/or OS you want, cost less, and generally way more flexible. I hate branded pc Lips sealed

Because a). I have no idea what I could afford to skimp on and what I couldn't (WTF? How the hell should I know what kind of 'power source' I need?), and  b). it looks to STILL be too expensive as it seems it won't even come with an OS, and c). I'm also looking to buy from a place that can offer me full customer support if I need it.
128  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building/Upgrading a PC for TS2 on: 2008 January 20, 02:41:29
I'm sorry to hear that you may or may not be keeping up with this thread, Hegelian. However, I hope someone can help me out a bit on this score:

I'm going to be buying a new computer in or around late Feb-early March. Unfortunately, it seems that every new computer comes prepackaged with Vista on it. I was thinking that I could simply use the WinXP System Restore Disks from my mother's computer (which is a Dell) to put XP back on it instead, but a local store dealer informed me that there may very well be an issue with the software it comes with not having XP drivers available. Would anyone be able to tell me if this computer would be able to take a System Restore XP installation on it with no trouble?
129  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Default Names Project - ROUND TWO! Which names to kill? on: 2008 January 09, 23:33:48
Although, now that I think about it, Frostilicus would be rather amusing.  Cheesy
130  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Default Names Project - ROUND TWO! Which names to kill? on: 2008 January 09, 23:06:25
Going from your questionable lists, I would remove the following:

Males: Arash (you're right: a rash), Androcles, Blue (unless his last name is Daboodeedabodah), Frost and Ingman (I agree; both are better as surnames), Keme, Moi (the french would consider him a narcissist), Nakamo (too similar to the japanese word Nakama, in my view), Qasim & Qamar and Tyree (too ethnic for a random white townie sim, yes), Wapasha, Winoc, and Yefim (I just don't like these last three).

Females: Columbine (for obvious reasons, I should hope), Deserét, Mbala (too similar to Impala), Shadi (would you want to be friends with a Shadi individual?), Wilma (too Flintstones-like), Zhen, and Zuri.
131  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Seasons: Plant Growth Study on: 2007 December 31, 00:39:28
I just did a preliminary test on crops. It took 6 days and 6 hours for 5 plots of eggplants (not in a greenhouse) to go from planted to being harvestable. This was in Summer. I'm willing to test anything else out if anyone's interested.
132  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: yes, i broke it. on: 2007 December 24, 08:02:18
Since Floopyboo's replied since I posted, I'll add a new post instead of editing my old one. I found a thread about that here.
133  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: yes, i broke it. on: 2007 December 24, 07:59:57
has anyone encountered the issue that an adult sim can no longer Find a Job because their "grades" aren't high enough, when they obviously don't have any grades?

I had that problem a while ago, and although I know it was due to a hack conflict, I can't recall which one. Try running the Hack Detection Utility to see what comes up.
134  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: releasing SimPE - soon on: 2007 December 22, 20:32:45
I'll give it a quick try. Thanks Inge. Oh, and I'm sorry I couldn't promise you a first born sim in my game (since she was already committed to Invisigoth), but I have a second born with your name on her.  Grin

ETA: First thing I noticed: its definitely TSS compatible. Excellent! Next thing: Theo's Color Binning Tool seems to work. Hurray!

Havelock, THANK YOU! That has been bugging me for quite a while.  Kiss
136  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims Married into Household unable to Move In on: 2007 December 22, 02:22:23
Good idea. Tongue  So the name of the file I should be looking for is LotFullofSims, right? I'm 99% certain I don't have that, but I'll do a scan.
137  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims Married into Household unable to Move In on: 2007 December 22, 01:16:08
Nope. Did a search on the Downloads folder for the word 'More' and nothing showed up. The thing is, I'm very meticulous about having my downloads separated (i.e. hacks in one folder, clothes in another, hair in another, etc.), so the only way it would be there is if it snuck in somehow so that's why I'm searching the entire Downloads folder.
138  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims Married into Household unable to Move In on: 2007 December 21, 21:04:14
Did that too. Unless it's called something else entirely, I don't have it.
139  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims Married into Household unable to Move In on: 2007 December 17, 19:46:16
Do you have jordi's LotFullOfSims hack? Because I believe if you have that you need to move them in before marriage otherwise you have errors and stuffs.

No. I was contacted about this before, and assuming the file would have the word 'larger' or 'large' in the file name, I do not have it and in fact the only way I would have it is if it snuck in hidden in another file.
140  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Default Names Project - ROUND ONE - Fire at will! on: 2007 December 17, 04:27:43
Of that list, I went with Lyric, Nirvana (for a last name), Trinity, Hawk, Joy, Skye, and already liked Hope. I debated Jazz but it sounds awfully close to something else and then I couldn't think about it as a boy's name any other way.

The list of names is getting pretty long now. I wonder if I should double a few of the most common names, like John and Michael, to make them show up more often? I mean, in real life it's kind of like, "throw a stone, hit a John."

Hehe.

Yes, but the real world is filled with thousands upon thousands of people in each city (small towns notwithstanding), and I would hope that your Sims hood is not. It's up to you, though.
141  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is it the hotdogs or the woohoo? on: 2007 December 16, 20:28:55
Sorry for the off-topic post, but it's nice to see you back, Avalikia. Smiley
142  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Sims Married into Household unable to Move In on: 2007 December 16, 19:19:57
My game throws an error whenever I try to marry someone into a household without moving them in first. I'm not sure what would be causing this, so I've included an error log. This happens every time I try the 'Propose Marriage' interaction.
143  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Global Random Name Generator on: 2007 December 15, 02:20:04
I generally use this page: http://seventhsanctum.com/index-name.php
or this page: http://www.kleimo.com/random/name.cfm

both are fun times. \Cheesy/ And give first and last names.

I love the seventh sanctum site! Where else would I have gotten the inspiration to be a Chaotic Cuddly class?  Cheesy
144  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Immy Crown on: 2007 December 13, 09:22:16
My sim men use Irish Spring, so I doubt they would feel comfortable wear crowns. Tongue

They might if you called them 'laurels.'  Grin
145  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Immy Crown on: 2007 December 13, 09:14:34
* Immy stamps mark of approval.

Actually, I need to make a stamp image...

I'd love to see that. 'This image is Immy Approved.'   Cheesy
146  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Immy Crown on: 2007 December 13, 08:04:05
For your Simming pleasure, I present to you a very fashionable Miss Immy crown usable for both genders (in adult only, apparently). A picture for you:

Disclaimer: I did not create this crown; I merely altered it so it can be worn by both males as well as females (child through adult). The original version (Tasha) can be found here and was created by Rock Chick; the mesh was created at Pronup Sims.
147  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Global Random Name Generator on: 2007 December 11, 01:46:14
This looks interesting. You can generate random names that are from different parts of the world. There are mythology, fairy, classical and biblical sections also.

Doesn't seem to generate a lastname though.

Well, there's this site, but I don't see a randomizer option. Sad
148  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Default Names Project - ROUND ONE - Fire at will! on: 2007 December 07, 22:05:20
If anyone's interested, I have a list of names that I initially got from Hook's Randomizer Program thread. It's since been altered to remove undesirablew names and add the better ones from this thread. If you're interested, I have attached it to this post.

Sure. If you'd like, I'll put together the questions that have been asked and answered by Pinstar in a separate file.

Angelyne, would you mind providing a link to where you found those two outfits? I'd like to see precisely how much they were photoshopped in that picture to make them look so clear.
