26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I think I've caught the stupid on: 2009 October 18, 18:16:06
Okay I tried the empty recycle bin method, which didn't work. I though maybe it was my neighborhood, so I made a new one and went into CAS. But all the hair and eye were there too.

I am on a Vista.
Just now I went out and my game is installed in: C:\Users\Madi\Document\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. Now when I originally installed this game I never specified where, just did the "Standard Install". I also went and looked in C:\Program Files and no Electronic Arts or The Sims 3 folders are there. But then I go into C:\Program Files x86 and there's an Electronic Arts folder with, whadyaknow, a The Sims 3 folder.. and inside? A Mods\Packages folder with a whole lotta crap in it. Other than a Mods folder there are folder called Caches, Game, GameData, Support, Thumbnails and a resource.cfg.
...
Do I have my game installed in the wrong place?..  Roll Eyes

I'll try using the empty recycle bin and see what happens.
Perhaps it matters that I also had more folders in my packages folder? They were labeled things like Hair, Makeup, Patterns. Should I just stick to keeping all my mods piled up in the mods\packages with no sorting by folders?

Does the game actually notice the mods\packages folder in the same way it notices the Saves folder and so on?

Edit: I tried renaming the mods\packages and all the stuff was still there. Also it deleted my mods\packages AGAIN which only contains Awesome mod. This is really wierd, now I'll try using the empty recycle bin method.

At the risk of being completely bashed for asking what I'm going to ask... I'm going to ask it because I'm really fed up.
First off, I posted in another thread about how I have these default replacement eyes that I can't get rid of. I tried some different things this morning with my custom content, trying to remove the eyes and  some really borked looking hairs with no luck. So my next try was to just take all my mods out like so many people have said before and then replace them one by one. I though that was a fairly simple process, and began by moving the mods\packages folder onto my desktop so I could take things out of it and put them back in the new mods\packages folder in the usual C:\users\myname\documents\electronic arts\the sims 3\mods\packages. So after taking the folder out and making another mods\packages, I put just Awesome mod in it and aweconfig. I deleted all the cache files and started the game. All the stuff was still there. Hair, eyes, makeup. All there, just laughing at me. And the wierd thing was that when I opened up the sims 3 file location  after quitting the game, the mods folder I had recreated to hold just Awesome mod was gone, and the Awesome mod files in them too.

I'm really confused here, and I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. What exactly are the steps you should take when putting your mods back in one by one?
29  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't get rid of default replacements! on: 2009 October 18, 02:31:01
I have almost the same problem. I know what mine are though, they're the "Radiant" set from mod the sims, here's the page http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=352656. They are default replacement. I grew tired of them so; I deleted the file, then went and downloaded a different set of default replacement eyes from mts3 (these in Shiny http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=363888), deleted all my caches, then restarted the game, the first eyes still showed in CAS. I've repeated this multiple times. Redownloading and emptying caches, going into CAS with no luck. I even tried just getting rid of any default replacement eyes and seeing if it would go back to the EA originals, but still nothing. All new sims and old still wear the radiant eyes. I've started new neighborhoods and they all have the radiant eyes on too in CAS, even when I had a different set installed.

Add-on: I've searched my whole computer for the radiant eyes file name, and deleted any thing that came up about them, with no luck in getting them out of my game. In fact I searched my whole computer for ANY weird random replacement eyes that got thrown in somewhere or put in a wrong folder and deleted those too. But yet here I am. And yes, it's driving me insane too. :/ I feel your pain...

Here's what the radiant eyes look like in-game. Just in case these are yours also.

Anyone remember the matchmaker? That crazy lady that you could call and buy love potions from. Love potions that made flowers sprout up behind you when you used it. And the matchmaker so you don't have to drag your sim all the way to the middle of town and scower for a mate. Even though you had to pay, it was a little more efficient than now.
31  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 October 16, 04:33:56
So I moved a group into a little town house.

After all coming together in the front yard, every single one was awestruck towards the sky. It seems EA did include aliens...

Because shortly after my people then began calling to their mother ship.

And after what I assumed was years in space but only one second in sims, they returned in the blink of an eye. Just a little tired.

Okay, a lotta tired.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Wonky Colored Question Mark Tiles on: 2009 October 16, 04:15:09
I got the riddler tiles on the front entrance of my art gallery a few days ago for the first time. I've been playing sims 3 since it came out and this is the first time I've seen these, except for when I read this thread once before. I noticed with the tiles at the art gallery, when you use the eyedropper tool and click the riddler tile it pulls up the actual tile it is and lets you add more riddler tiles anywhere. It's as if you were using the eyedropper tool for any other copy and paste jobs. I just repainted over my tiles hoping to fix it, as I read in here that no one seems to have figured any way to stop them.
Then I went to the Goth mansion. And as ShortyBoo said, mine were on the wall closest to the mansion, then more scattered all the way up towards the tower, and some on the pool bottom. I don't play with the Goth mansion so I just repaint if I notice some.

The loving and compassionate spirit that seems to embody all my Simians-

I don't exactly know what this protest is for, but it seems it's a family event. (note the noses...)

This is from a shirt I downloaded showing up in my teen clothes when it's for children. Either that or my girl has decided to join the circus as spider monkey.

"Oh, don't worry dear; my neighbors will surely assist me to the hospital if I go into labor in the middle of the park. Smiley"

My son suffored a terrible surgery accident. His arm was squashed under a school bus one day and he was taken to the hospital, but clearly his doctor was untrained in *uh hmm* re-attaching his limb...
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2009 September 07, 21:05:07
I've also gone about a week and a half without an error 12 or 13. I haven't played for more than 3 or so hours. I also went in and took out a bunch of houses, which only helped my save game file size slightly.
My graphics are on all on high, except for no reflections, tree quality is turned down and also the amount of lots around the current lot that are rendered is at 3. I turned them down a while ago, because my game started to drag a little.
I removed around 12 houses and replaced them with building shells (no or very minimal interior decorations) the game seems to perform as if it was a newly created town. I have not encountered a single error 12 or 13 for 9 hours straight.

Also I noticed that my save file has decreased from 139Mb to 126Mb. Saving time is around 10 sec less than before and quitting the game is 1 minute faster.

My game also performed slightley faster, and my save time decreased a whole lot. Probably about 10 seconds as is yours. Yesterday I played my game without quiting for about 6 or 7 hours and never got a 12 or 13.
My game file size also went from 47mb to 41mb.

Just though I'd add in some more specifics and reports.
35  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Deadly Ghosts on: 2009 September 05, 01:25:16
I've never seen a ghost driving a car, but I do have a car that just sits in a parking place in front of the workout place in Riverview. I have Awesome mod and it says it's a car from one of my lots that doesn't even have a family in it. It's just an empty house. I've also never played a family in it.

Not to mention after I had nearly beat the darn game, it got stuck on the same part and I couldn't do anything to progress, and just had to start over (EA did it again). The town was supposed to be Strangetown, in the middle of the desert. The graphics were most definitely lacking, but I've never been a big fan of the DS.
They also have sims 2 for PSP. It has way better graphics, and I actually enjoy the story line on it. It's really weird with robot wives, a missing garbage man, and a lady who keeps having her husbands die. You can even furnish your own house.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: move grave? on: 2009 August 23, 00:17:46
but are the tombs visible by all sims in manage the dead,
Nope. The same rule about having to be tied to the family as friend still applies in "Manage the Dead". However I'm not exactly clear on how sims' tombs end up in manage the dead, so can't help you there.
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: move grave? on: 2009 August 22, 17:18:47
Do different tombs appear to different sims?
As stated before in this thread- Tombstones can only be picked up by sims who are friends with some family member of the tombstone.
Not by just anyone, I was previously mistaken about that. So if only a sim with friend ties to the deceased can carry the grave, then yes different sims will be able to pick up different graves.

Speaking of AM and nannies, is there a way to get the sims 3 babysitter to act on a schedule, like it was in sims 2. As snowbawl said, it's really annoying to have the babysitter only stay for a while after you call her. When I had twins, then triplets directly after, I had five cribs with little babies in them. I had to constantly call the babysitter back again after she left. And in sims 2 you could even have two nannies at once, by having your scheduled nanny there and your "just for now" nanny.

Flashback to my baby farm. Not all the babies were in the crib at the time, and actually this was after the twins had grown into toddlers (one located at the direct bottom).

It was a babysitter's nightmare.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stuck in buy/build mode? on: 2009 August 22, 04:47:10
How big are the four .cache files in your MyDocuments\Electronic Art\The Sims 3\ folder?   If they're stuffed, you could delete them and see if that helps.  They're called  compositor.cache, simCompositor.cache, Script.cache -  I can't recall the last one (I just deleted mine after I shut down the game).
The fourth is CASPartCache.
You say this freeze only happens in one saved game but in others you're able to go back into live mode? Did you try saving the game by clicking "Save as" so that it changes the name and saves it as a new file, then restarting and selecting it? What if you made a completely new game and put a family on a lot does it let you exit buy mode then?
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Objects I miss on: 2009 August 22, 04:38:46
Is the sim pregnant?  Editsim won't work if the sim is pregnant, and neither will any other cheats or mods that send the sim back to CAS (such as the tweak option in ISM).
Yes, she is. That explains it thanks, glad I mentioned it or else I'd be trying to load cas over and over  Undecided.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Objects I miss on: 2009 August 22, 04:19:09
I did the life fruit a day thing once. But it was stoled life fruit from my old house that still had it growing in the garden, ha. It did it's job, but there was only two bushes of it so I had to wait a while for new to grow back. Funny thing is, in that same house, once I got tired of waiting for new to grow back, I ended up turning aging off. Then like you said; waiting a couple days and either using the birthday cake or just triggering age transition for my young 'uns.
I'd do the life fruit a day thing again, but I've lost interest in gardening since then. Currently I was using the editsim and just changing the age back, but now Create-A-Sim won't load after I enter the cheat. The load screen comes up but, after that it just spins around. I'd report it, but the manual says it's still experimental and unsupported. I was going to uninstall AM and then reinstall it ot see if that would fix it.

You and I both are certainly not adding useful game knowledge now. And yes, I would consider it useful knowledge to know what a patch does in my game. So as to not remain confused when asking other questions pertaining to single parent babies and the like.

Yes why not teleport her someone where else, you do that from testingCheats. Shift click the ground.

Oh, thanks Cheesy I didn't know that about silencing the phone that way. Or I did and just never really noticed.
47  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 August 21, 21:45:22
Ha ha, your right. Or it looks like the Nintendo Ds, version of sims 2.
Dude. That's Sims *2*? That looks even worse than Sims 1!
They really went back to basics with it, huh?
48  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How can I graduate an adult sim from High School? on: 2009 August 21, 06:06:54
I think the fewer traits that some NPCs have are just random. Like how sometimes if your have a near perfect pregnancy you can pick two traits and then you'll end up with five later on, or if not just four.
49  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The House Phone Only Rings When... on: 2009 August 21, 04:04:13
I silence all phones, including cell phones. If you've ever had a Rock Star or someone else who knows lot of people, there is no way you can make your own call because sims are always calling you!
50  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 August 21, 04:00:35
I've never gotten the "Join the Protest" option. Do you have to be employed in the political career?
I don't really have any politician sims I play with, nor have I seen it as an event either.
