Title: Trash rummaging and Police report writing
Post by: phyllis_p on 2009 July 15, 16:05:11
Okay, so my gal on the police force rummages through trash to try to get info for a report, but never comes up with anything.  Oh, she's found bubble bath and other random items, but when I try to write a report, the option isn't there.  Is there some trick that I'm missing?  Does she need to rummage until she gets a certain message? She can write reports after questioning people just fine.

Supreme Commander -> Work. Just let it do its thing.

I'd suggest only doing that with 'slob' sims who don't mind rummaging through trash.

My police track sim was a 'neat' one and it about drove him insane to rummage through trashcans...in fact, I could never get him to do it long enough to compile evidence for a report.

Thanks, y'all.  I guess I didn't give her long enough.

My neat sim rummages through until she gets the info...sometimes 4-5 cans in succession, without any problem.

Phylllis-This probably isn't your issue but I noticed that if you put the computer in inventory, the option to write reports is gone once you pull it back out.  You then have to go rummage/question some more to get the option back.

No, her computer was sitting back at home.  However, I do often equip my Sims with laptops, so I'll be careful about that.  Thanks.

I should specify this was household inventory that I put the computer in.  Can you put computers/laptops in personal inventory?

You can carry laptops in personal inventory and use them at public lots if there is a table and chair of any sort.  My writers carry their laptops all the time and use them at the library quite often, since the library computers are sometimes in use already.

Ok thanks.
I'm going to try and see if putting a laptop in personal inventory gives me the same bug.
