Oh, don't pick on poor Kennedy!  He is so misunderstood   Tongue-.  I had one of my desperate sims marry him once and he was a great family man if a bit fussy Wink.  He did do MUCH better than Goopy the time I made him move in with Nina because of an uh oh pregnancy.
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Customers losing a star immediately upon grabbing something off the shelf on: 2006 March 29, 18:01:29
Yes, it is very useful for that complaining - particularly when the owner is a grouch and doesn't handle it well.  Ironically, while he has all these customers lining up to whine about dirty dishes and unstocked items the reporter comes up and gives him a "best of the best" award.  I hadn't even noticed he was being reviewed (too busy watching my owner's queue I guess  Tongue).

Some things just don't make sense in OFB but there are usually ways around it.  Boolprop is my friend  Grin

I do think it has mostly to do with personality of the buyer though.  I can't make Komei happy with any of my businesses (not sure what his nice/grouchy score is but all my playables always hate him).  I also have a problem with Nina, Lilith, Andrea Hogan and that old lady that has the bakery.

I don't mind not being able to sell to them but when they start picking fights in my shop they must be punished.

I just noticed the "as requested by MissDoh".  I was too excited to get it in my game when I saw the title.  I am in your debt for asking for this!  Maybe I can actually go downtown and talk to other sims again!

Maybe this will help this problem if anyone wants to try (I have dl'ed but not played with it yet).  Just saw it today at MTS2.

I don't know about bakeries but I spent the entire day with Landgrabber getting his businesses up to 10 and I can say this - some customers I just couldn't stop from getting minuses no matter what I did.  On the restocking I would try to go immediately into buy mode and delete the picture of the item so no restock sign would show but no go.  Just like the dirty plates - I don't care if I have someone cleaning their table as they are trying to scoot them out of the way to stand up - they still complain and get the minuses.

I did discover that if I just clicked it out of my owner's queue (the "be complained at") he didn't get minuses or lose loyalty because it never happened.  Grin  That also works on the "May I help you?" when the owner gets "be rejected for sale" after showing the item.  That came in handy since that was always a fear of his.

I just took to deleting the sims I couldn't make happy off the lot (Komei has an appointment with a cowplant after today).  As someone else mentioned it is kind of like calling security IRL when a customer is unruly  Wink

I also noticed that not all customers complain about dirty plates or unstocked items or at least I could get it taken are of before it bothered them.  Must have something to do with personality and/or mood.  Dunno.

Doh, wrong post I was answering Smiley  Disregard...
82  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Downloading MATYville Full Version on: 2006 March 28, 14:20:28
Gotcha.  I did a search and read most of the threads I could find and also read the instructions at simpotence.  Decided on the Lite version because I am not really interested in the terrain paints and everything is running smoothly.  It takes longer to load than I am used to but then again I have never had a neighborhood nearly that big before.

I haven't played yet but did go house shopping for my sim family and checked out a few sim names I am familiar with seeing here.

All I can say is - wow.  A lot of work was put into this.  Very impressive!  I wish I had that kind of creativity and patience.
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Downloading MATYville Full Version on: 2006 March 28, 04:44:17
Ohhhh!  I didn't even know this existed!  What fun it sounds!  Off to download...
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB and DeleteAllCharacters on: 2006 March 23, 15:58:35
Thanks so much.  This will save me a lot of grief for my next batch.  You would think it wouldn't have to be this difficult.

I did check SimPE on that hood just before I deleted it and it had created 4 teens and 4 adults, the usual 4 downtownie popularity sims that pretend they know your sims even when they have never met by calling all the time, one mailman, 2 paperboys and 4 repairmen.  I don't even know why on the repairmen.  I didn't use force create NPC and I hadn't called one... hmmm.

Back to the drawing board.

Thanks again!
85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How is the new OFB patch working for everyone? on: 2006 March 23, 15:30:54
I have read about that - the Nvidia problems but I have never experienced any graphical errors or crashes and I have a 6600.  Well, I take that back - the default female children's bangs cover their eyes.  Is it related to the terrains or something?  I can only assume that it is something I don't use that is causing problems.  Please, oh please don't let me find it accidentally on a downloading spree  ...
86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How is the new OFB patch working for everyone? on: 2006 March 23, 02:36:22
I didn't take any of my hacks out and the only thing I have seen is the sim reset already mentioned.  I also didn't lose piano fun for some reason (must be a hack I have).  I did notice a few times though that kids playing the game for the tv thingy didn't get fun from it.  I haven't really looked into that and didn't notice if it was happening before since I usually have the kids do a skill buiding fun thing anyways after school.

All in all though, I didn't have the problems it said it fixed but it didn't seem to break anything that I ghave noticed yet or that I didn't already have a mod to fix.
87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB and DeleteAllCharacters on: 2006 March 23, 02:28:47
MissDoh, funny you should post this ...  just today I decided I was sick of the premade families (lazy, sloppy bunch that they are in Pleasantville) and decided to do the same with the same results as you.

I don't look in SimPE or anything though so I am not sure on specifics but - I created PV, a downtown, a college (Sim State) and Bluewater.  I don't know how deleteAllCharacters works exactly so I went through each neighborhood and did it and then manually deleted the ones in the bin(s) including the college.

I created 4 families and used the mailbox to force create townies, got the grim reaper head, a few pop up boxes I had to answer reset, and the box never went above 0 townies created (I know it used to go through each face with a count).  I tried both create townies and create downtownies options with the same results.

After all that I said oh well, bunny breeding time Smiley and went on with my playing only to find out that townies MUST have been generated because they kept walking by my houses.

I also noticed that the businesses that used to be owned by the BW sims are greyed out and can't be bought now.  I guess the deeds got deleted with their owners.

I didn't know about the spawning tree though so I may try that one.  I may have to go do it all again and see what happens.
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Downtown Restaurants and OFB on: 2006 March 22, 19:25:16
KellyQ - It is good to hear I am not the only one.  And YES.  I thought it was my imagination about the needs decay but it had to have changed.  I know the default "reset" sim needs now have low bladder like I mentioned which I thought might be part of it but at least on community lots need decay seems faster.  I am not sure on home lots because I micromanage everything they do most of the time Smiley  Hygiene has always bugged me anyway (who needs a shower 3 times a day??).  I used to have a mod that slowed it but I haven't checked since OFB to see if it is compatible.

And I don't know if it worked this way before but I will have a sim completely green to go to his community lot business and when he gets there he has reset to the defaults again.

The date thing too - in the past all my dates were dream dates.  It was just too easy since your needs get refreshed each level you reach but now almost all my dates end early so that they can "go take care of some things".  I guess I always assumed they were getting the same refresh my sim was but if they did they don't anymore or they are starting the date much lower in needs than before.

89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Do You Fast Forward? on: 2006 March 22, 15:59:09
I fast forward all the time but I play with aging on.  I hate pregnancies, babies, and toddlers and I am more than sick of most sims by the time they reach elder.  Ironically, the only ones I don't fast forward are the sims I don't like that I am letting do their own thing.  I like to see just how stupid they can be and cheer when they set themselves on fire or realize they are starving and too tired to eat.

I do slow down time if there is something going on that I need to micromanage like making a parent help with homework or getting someone platinum before work for a promotion though.
90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ... Isn't the damned patch supposed to FIX THINGS? on: 2006 March 22, 15:52:51
The only thing the patch did to me was reset every sim.  And although it was annoying to enter a lot at 11 PM and all my sims were out of bed with full energy it was no big deal.

But then again, come to think of it I have never had my game crash or the blue screen.  Maybe it is because my "testingcheatsenabled true" is in my userstartup file and always on.  I know people say that is bad but it has never seemed to cause me any problems at all and it is really convenient to shift-move motive, interest and personality bars whenever I want.
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Downtown Restaurants and OFB on: 2006 March 22, 15:16:17
I only recently started playing with the businesses in OFB simply because I couldn't manage to run one until I found an employee refresh mod.  According to the Prima guide just send them on break so they can take care of their needs but oh no, not these sims!  I send them on break and they go work out or something else really stupid until they become completely useless but that is another story.

I have noticed that restaurants in Downtown (unowned by any of my sims) barely function now.  The Sims obsessively eat - over and over again.  Maybe because of that new "hidden" shopping need and that is the only thing to buy.   I don't know but you can't even talk to them because they are either in line to be seated, already seated or standing up to go be seated again.

I also get weird messages sometimes.  For example - I had someone on a date at that 50s Diner thingy.  The date ended early so she could "go take care of some things" (I know she had to pee but she just wouldn't go do it, why do they start out with bladder so low now when it used to just be only hunger, fun and social?  I constantly have guests leaving now becaue they are too stupid to go to the bathroom.)  Anyway, shortly after she left I get a message from a downtownie that my sim didn't even know saying he was going to take off.  Ummm, what do I care if he takes off??

The only mods I have are most of Pescado's Director's cut, a handful from Simlogical and Twojeffs.  I do have a few other objects (an employee refresh sign and  Monique's computer) but these were not even on the lot.

I am just wondering if anyone else is seeing any of this or if I have something loaded that could be affecting it?

92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FFS OFB Compatibility List on: 2006 March 05, 05:12:41
Well, after going through and finally removing the only mods listed as dirty - I can't live without ltw - sanity/variety.  Half my new hood wants to be crooks and the other half cops.  Being the nice goddess that I am, I usually try to fulfill their lifetime wants and rely on the generic - Earn 100,000 - Max 7 skills - Reach Golden anniversary - to actually get the Uni jobs in my hood - let alone owning a business now.  Even then, I have had only one person in Show business (Dina Goth), one Natural Scientist (Cas born that got eaten by the cowplant because I didn't know how it worked  Embarrassed) and NEVER a Paranormal.  I have only even seen the resurrect-thingy on the Secret Society lot because I refuse to give them something they don't earn.

I have finally decided I am going to ignore ltw now.  I have only seen one new one - Have 5 Top Businesses - and only once at that.  I like to keep my sims happy but I can't have a half mafia/half 'Cops in Pleasantview' hood.  I am still struggling with one mob boss (Jennifer Burb) being married to Captain Hero let alone watching lazy bleeb Brandi Broke sweating and puking on the treadmill while her future mob boss son giggles.

93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 27, 16:43:54
Ouchie ouch.  Took some time off and boy did this turn nasty.  Not that it means much but - I don't mind paying for a one time good deal since I just can't be bothered to figure out how to do it myself.  I have no problem whatsoever paying someone else to create something I would love to have but don't have the discipline or know-how to make myself.  Buyer Beware though.  I don't always like what I buy but such is life.

Now - subscriptions.  Not gonna pay someone that I may not even want something from (or I may just forget about)  I just got a charge on my card for a one year subscription to Allakhazam from my old EQ days for 29.95.  I can't even remember the last time I used that site but that is what alot of subscription sites rely on (I am also a member of Realarcade which bites me constantly because I am too lazy to call their 1-800 number and cancel)

Kinda reminds me of car insurance.  I have been paying for over 20 years with never a claim..  I think I should get a consolation prize of a new car or something by now  Roll Eyes

I am probably going to buy that hair but I will wait until I do a clean load with OFB and start integrating downloads in.  I always do without downoads until I just can't take it anymore  Grin

95  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Default skins ...again on: 2006 February 24, 14:45:57
Ok, I have finally gotten really tired of all my sims being skin type 3 or 4 with black or brown hair and brown eyes.  Even trying to selectively breed I can't seem to get away from these generic looking  neighborhoods and so I have been playing in SimPE trying to figure out what all those files do  Huh

I know that there was a thread about the dominant/recessive genes awhile back and I looked up the default skin replacement thread but I just am too dumb to figure out what to do or the easiest way to change the defaults or stop that dominant crap.  Ideally I would like it to just be random but it seems every time I mate a blonde light with a dark hair dark ALL the kids are dark with dark hair.
96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "Will you be my honorary auntie?" on: 2006 February 24, 12:11:41
I know ZZ!  Crepes Suzette are the only saviour I have for killing off my permaplat elders without helping them along playing Kervorkian (well, until I got twojeffs thingy to make them not live forever).  It is a real pain playing legacy challenges cause my houses get too full and the old coots won't die even if I leave them to their own devices.
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "Will you be my honorary auntie?" on: 2006 February 24, 05:18:13
I can never get my families right.  In Veronaville the single father Monty (can't remember his name cause I don't like him) somehow burned up making crepes suzette  Wink causing the 2 Monty grandchildren to end up in the adoption bin.  I thought it would be really cool to have the grandparents take them in so they called to adopt but the family tree got screwed up.  Instead of still showing the dead father and mother it showed the grandmother who placed the calls as the mother and her son as the dead father.  How gross is that??
98  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 24, 05:11:51
Umm, kinda off topic but - what determines what style of hair a Sim likes or is it random like the food they want at restaurants?  I just love watching them after I take them to the mirror - kinda like RL - sometimes they laugh, sometimes they cry and every now and again they jump up and down clapping their little Sim hands.  It can take me a long time to figure out what will make them happy though.  I haven't been able to figure out if they consider all custom hair the same either.  More changing appearances to do...
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 24, 04:59:39
I had to go find it again (that disorganization kicking in again  Tongue).  The site seems difficult to navigate but it is http://www.rosesims2.net/.  I just love hair with bangs and some of hers are just so cute.  0027 is the one I was gonna get but several look really nice.
100  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Runaways on: 2006 February 24, 04:40:00
Ahhh, that explains it.  They hadn't even met Madie so I couldn't "adjust" their relationship with her (which I planned on doing anyways).  Guess I was just spoiled and didn't notice in my old neighborhood where everyone already had at least met everyone else.  Easy solve, thanks!
