26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Yet another hair thread - OFB Hidden Hair Properly Binned & Animated on: 2006 May 13, 17:19:46
You could always check and see if the textures look the same as the textures for the less nice versions of the hair, and if they do, you can easily convert some of the recolors of other versions over.
How is this done?  Sounds exactly like what I need to do!  It should also work for the OFB curly extracted mesh ones, too, right?

I like this idea, Allen!  How about a bad memory of turning the white load pink with the red sock?  And congrats on your first house!!!

Bummer on both counts, Morrigan..

Time flies when you're having fun!  16 days and 3 hours for me.

Has anyone tried the newest male donation hair?  The still shots look good...  I, too, have kept very little of the female hair from SC. Seems like the shorter the hair, the better it behaves.
31  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Load Screen Messages on: 2006 April 27, 21:40:58

Go to C:/Program Files/EA Games/(whatever game you're using)/TSData/Res/Sound/ and look for Splash.package. Back it up to your desktop or something and then go to C:/Program Files/EA Games/The Sims 2/TSData/Res/Sound and copy the Splash.package from there. Paste it in the first directory I listed and it should play the original music at the splash screen.

Fantastic, this worked!!  I am once again a happy camper. Thank you very much.

This is extremely nifty!!!  I always read the messages, you can kind of tell how much more time you have to wait. I agree, they seem to not be so witty anymore.  Great job, BlueSoup.

I like the loading music from the base game, and have tried all the ways I've read about to change it but it never works.  If anyone has any new ideas on that, I would be most grateful.
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Alright, 'fess up! on: 2006 April 14, 22:00:11
I've got a separate folder with subfolders named real game, first alternate game, second alternate game, etc. and just have the whole EA GAMES folder for that version stuck in.  Then I just swap them out when I want to play one of the other versions.  There is also one called clean game for when I want to test something or get yet another version...
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Alright, 'fess up! on: 2006 April 14, 19:07:51
Ok, Jysudo, just for you I went back into my files for my "real" game that had the tons of downloads.  I might have missed a few, but it was at least 8.5 GB... It took about 8 and a half minutes to get from click the icon to choose the neighborhood.  That is what made me decide to weed the downloads into separate games.  All the variations of my game seem to load at the rate of a minute per GB of downloads.

And just to show how much of a download whore I truly am, I have one partition with nothing but sims stuff on it: uninstalled downloaded objects, houses I haven't installed yet, the compressed files of every house I ever downloaded (all 2200+ of them) and all the backups from installing new EPs.  Oh, and all the versions not currently playing.  That is 15.6 GB of valuable stuff....
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fair Labor Price on: 2006 April 13, 16:09:47
For $1100 you'd better hope the parts are gold plated....  Does the price change if something does go wrong, and it takes him considerably longer than planned?
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Nvidia Driver for OFB? Anybody know? on: 2006 April 13, 16:05:06
I didn't do anything with vsync, don't remember ever hearing that term before....I had that card in 2 different computers, the first one had a 750 mhz P3 with 768 MB ram and the second one had a 3.0 ghz P4 with 1 then 2 GB ram.  That video card was an upgrade from a MX 440, so it was a fabulous difference.

( Thanks for the vsync lesson, pinhead, now I know what it is.  And it was nothing I ever messed with.)
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Nvidia Driver for OFB? Anybody know? on: 2006 April 13, 15:39:24
I had great luck with the 77.77 version drivers with my FX5200.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Alright, 'fess up! on: 2006 April 11, 16:45:07
I've probably got between 6 and 7 GB of downloads... after 3.5 GB the load time was 5 minutes and I decided that was too long. So I divided up the cc into different folders and use different stuff in different versions of the game.  The only things that are in all the game folders are the hacks and the hair.  With just about 1GB, I'm playing in about 90 seconds.  Much better load time.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inge where are thou? on: 2006 April 06, 07:47:10
I understand...  I sent those from my real email, with yetyak in the subject line so you'll know what they are.  Too late in the day to try to figure out attachements on yahoo mail, although I'm sure it isn't very hard.
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inge where are thou? on: 2006 April 06, 07:38:59
I'm going through lists and descriptions right now, I'll edit this post with things that I don't seem to have.  I also don't know what is compatible with what, as google cache doesn't seem to let me see that. If you have information about discontinued or obsolete stuff, please let me know.  Tongue:

NoAdultsOr VisSwinging    Like the No Adults patch but also stops visiting kids using the swing.
No Autonomy Read To  Stops adults deciding to read to children autonomously.  But allows a child to ask to be read to.

I have both of these, Blue, if you'd like me to send them.
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Know of any good sites for male hair? on: 2006 April 06, 07:36:33
Oh man, Regina, that made me laugh!!  Maybe I'd better go see if they have my hubby's eyebrows incase I ever make him a sim....
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Point & Laugh ? about installing lots on: 2006 April 04, 05:01:56
I've had good luck installing just the lot file and then installing the other stuff into their proper folders separately.  Yes, closing clean installer after the lot, and reopening to install any walls and floors I wanted.
43  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I Got a New Video Card and Now My Game Won't Load on: 2006 March 31, 07:16:31
If nothing shows in task manager, try deleting the groups.cache file.  Sometimes that works wonders.  (in the My Documents/EA Games/ Sims2 folder)
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wow! Weird graphical artifacts on: 2006 March 20, 00:41:32
I've had no problems whatsoever with the Nvidia 77.77 drivers on three different cards, if that helps anyone.
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 14, 17:18:04
I forgot to mention that for most of the files, I also have the SimPE .bak file that includes the greys...  I didn't keep most of the grey ones because I figured that most of the styles were to "fussy" for elders.  I know that I sure no longer want to "fuss" with my hair...  Cheesy
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 14, 05:37:16
Well, I have just over 1,200 hair files, all properly binned, without the toddler and child repeater styles. Most of them don't have the gray either, if anyone wants to include them.  And it really didn't take that long to do it, looking back on the finished project.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This is more than usually odd on: 2006 March 13, 20:21:06
Mine runs in streaks like that, too, Avie; with the exception of the twins.  Didn't have the first unhacked set until about 2 months ago.  I had a huge run of boys and then tried to have one in a family of all girls, so naturally that one started another streak of girls.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why the hell is an integrated card faster with TS2? on: 2006 March 13, 20:12:30
My 6200 works great with the 77.77 drivers.  Loads the game with all EP's and 900 mb CC in 90 seconds or so.  One thing to check is that some cards are not compatible with some motherboards and can work, but do some pretty strange things.  My card says in the paper work that it is not compatible with SiS chip motherboards.  Just a thought...

I absolutely love his auto recycling newspaper!!!
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How can you change the music on the loading screen? on: 2006 March 04, 21:50:09
Allen, did you wish for this in Sims 1 also?  I always wanted a way to keep the base music then, too.  And it seemed to get worse with each expansion.  I really hope that doesn't happen with Sims 2...
