51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Plastic Surgery for Child and up on: 2005 August 19, 13:46:48
Hmm, I thought the 'ugly kid = good-looking adult' theory was true, too, until I finally collared that ugly little sod Chandler Platz and gre him up with the Insiminator. You guessed it, ugly as a kid, uglier than a hatful of arseholes as an adult.....  Roll Eyes
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: children stuck on bus on: 2005 August 19, 01:39:55
Sort-of related question -

If my Sims pull out the kicky bag for a quick game and I cancel out the action, I end up with the stuck kicky bag thing. Not a problem, 'cause I have the Lot debugger. How come when I click on the 'Unstick Kicky Bags' or whatever it says, it tells me it's cleaned up (usually) 3 objects. Yet I clearly see my Sims only use ONE kicky bag per game. Where'd the other two kicky bags come from?
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How about a no-clog or reduced-clog toilet global? on: 2005 August 18, 13:20:46

When you have fixed NL and converted the silly car into a great jeep, the camp should be complete.

FLAMETHROWERS!!.... don't forget the flamethrowers!!!!  Grin
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 August 18, 02:57:15
No, I'm pretty sure when YA's graduate they can only go back to the neighbourhood they came from - the only way to move them into another 'hood would be to put them in the lot bin and manually move them over, which is A Very Bad Thing and will cause untold amounts of heartache and game wobbles, according to He Who Is More Awesome.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Learn To Study on: 2005 August 18, 02:40:05
Thanks for clearing that up. Looks like I'm stuck with having to tutor the little brats still....  Roll Eyes
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Learn To Study on: 2005 August 17, 02:03:42
Does 'Learn To Study' have any longterm effect on my Sims, other than allowing them to complete their homework faster and fulfilling the 'Learn To Study' want? I always make sure each of my kids learns to study from an adult, which is sometimes a pain to organise when you have a busy household, so is it really necessary? Does it affect their studying in Uni, for example, or skillbuilding later on in life?
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: who's playing this game? on: 2005 August 17, 01:44:00
Tom Clancy's books are the worst for that, I think - great big huge bloated monsters where he goes into so much intricate detail about things.... it just puts me off wanting to read anymore sometimes...
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Give Birth and Drop Dead on: 2005 August 17, 01:39:06
I've heard of this choking death happening before, it only seems to affect pregnant Sims. There were reports about this happening months ago, when the game was still fairly new-ish, so I don't know that it's anything to do with your neighbourhood turning into a BFBVFS...
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: who's playing this game? on: 2005 August 16, 13:15:14
Someone drew me a spaceship once, I designed a D&D dungeon in it. Do you still have plans of your space colony? That might make a cool setting for a game, for the thread talking about starting a role-playing game. Or a space station.
I designed a D&D dungeon based on my own home. My victimsplayers refused to believe that such a deathtrap could possibly exist until I actually allowed them to witness it. And specially told them not to touch anything. Not even the toilet. To emphasize the point, something blew up, which I immediately blamed on one of them, instructing them NOT TO EVEN LOOK AT IT.

 Shocked
Friendly get-togethers at your place must be a total mindfuck.....

60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: EXCLUSIVE!!! Sim Scoops Lottery Jackpot!!! on: 2005 August 16, 05:00:00
That happened to me with Jane Stacks, too!

She and Daniel Pleasant were bumping uglies whilst Mary Sue was at work, but once Mary Sue dropped off the perch, I figured, what the hell, I'll move Jane in with Daniel. She brought with her around 5 and half million Simoleons...

It's kind of a pain in the ass, actually, I mean, once you've updated the kitchen counters, and installed a new spa and some nice paintings, there's not really much else to do with it all. I ended up money ordering it to random Townies, and then killing them. Kind of felt bad about it to start with, you know, give some poor sod a few million big ones then drop a satellite on their head, but eh, what're you gonna do?
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "Instant Meal" bug? on: 2005 August 14, 01:33:45
No answers here (surprise!) but just wanted to chip in and add that I've had the same problem, too - for me it happened in the Pleasant house, with no diagonal doors and no fridges other than Maxis one......  Huh

It does seem to right itself fairly quickly, though....
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Damn alienware hack on: 2005 August 10, 02:19:52
Presumably the wally who created it was a vegetarian!

I think some Jewish players had issues with the pork-chop meal...
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sexual Preference Not Changed By Woo-Hooing? on: 2005 August 10, 02:11:12
Hey, hold on a minute! Here I was, basking in the self-satisfied glow of being a Sagi, and laughing at the Scorpios, and then I click the bloody link and find out I am now ONE OF THEM!!!  Shocked

Hmm. Kinda makes sense, actually....
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hypothetical questions on: 2005 August 08, 05:44:47
So the result is that when you go to your neighborhood file, there will be a buttload of unlinked character files in the second neighborhood.

Thanks Liss - okay, so it's the unlinked character files that are bad, right?

Great-big-flaming-ball-visible-from-space bad, or just a bit inconvenient? I'm just a very inquisitive sort, that's all, and while I can accept JMP telling us NOT to do this (being how he is More Awesome etc.) I just would like to know WHY and WHAT IF?!!  Grin
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hypothetical questions on: 2005 August 08, 05:01:18
Right, let's just say that out of interest, I decide to take a Sim from, say, Strangetown - Nervous Subject, perhaps - and ship him across to Pleasantview to throw in with the Pleasants.

I know that this is a Bad Idea, because JMP said so, which is why this is strictly a hypothetical question. But what I'd like to know is, WHY? Why is it bad? What will happen, exactly? What levels of buggered-up-ness are we talking about here? Will it screw up one 'hood? Two? Trash my entire game? Destroy my hard-drive?

I need to know these things!

Also - another question, this time, not so hypothetical  Undecided .... if I move a house (empty, uninhabited, never even played before) from one 'hood to another, will this screw things up too?
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Have you seen the effects of Aspiration Failure? on: 2005 August 06, 17:32:02
Makes you wonder what Aspirational Failure for Pleasure Sims will look like.

Maybe that's where those flamethrowers will come in handy..?
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nannies Invasion...:) on: 2005 August 06, 17:17:41
I blame Maxis. Or boolprop.  Or both... Grin
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Have you seen the effects of Aspiration Failure? on: 2005 August 06, 17:14:50
I've seen them quite often - yes, my Sims are that miserable....

Their aspiration determines what kind of response you get - e.g. Family Sims get the whole floursack baby thing, Popularity Sims talk to a cup on a stick.. I think?  Romance sims woo some mop thing, knowledge Sims talk to a ball, and the fortunes beg in the street. One of the funniest things I saw in the game was Dina Goth harrassing the school bus driver for money one day.....
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nannies Invasion...:) on: 2005 August 06, 17:09:32
But just WHY do nannies pee themselves? I mean, every other visitor to my Sims house can find (and more importantly, use) the toilet, how come the nanny can't? It doesn't make sense.  Angry
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wry Neck on: 2005 August 05, 13:36:01
Usually when my toddlers grow up, the little portrait of them (as children) on the control panel always shows them with their heads lolling on one side - they never actually appear like this in the game, only in their portrait. I always just put it down as being One Of Those Things.

Sorry, I wasn't much help, was I?  Wink
71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 24 hour clock? on: 2005 August 05, 07:22:57
Thank you, El Presidente - off to d/l now - although most of my lots already have weird crap happening at any given time of the (Sim)day, so nothing unusual there.....  Smiley
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 24 hour clock? on: 2005 August 05, 02:25:34
That was two and a half hours ago!  Grin
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / 24 hour clock? on: 2005 August 05, 02:19:11
I read something about some games having the time shown using the 24-hour system? Is this a setting or something I can change? I'm a (former) military brat, so grew up using the 24 hour clock system, but my game uses civvy time (I'm in Australia, so presumably we got the US version...?)

I'd much prefer to have 24 hour time.... any chance?
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife: UGLY! on: 2005 August 04, 11:46:00
I'm pretty sure Superstar came after Unleashed - I remember because installing Unleashed was the last thing I ever did on my old 'puter - when SS came out, I was forced to buy a new one. The things you do for Sims....  Roll Eyes
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife: UGLY! on: 2005 August 04, 06:29:55
There are some good concerns raised here. But who am I kidding, I'm a junkie that will buy whatever EP they put out. Even if its "Sims! Crap on a Cracker!"

Entirely plausible, I think, a couple of years from now after they've rehashed every EP they put out for TS1 - I can just see it now - ' TS2 Crap on a Cracker - Watch your Neighbourhood Implode - now with More Bugs, Less Patches and a brand new collection of Godawful Walls You'll Never Use"

Screw rivalry, I'm really going to need those flamethrowers by that time.
