Influence hit limit?

I had this happen once and did not think much of it.  Tonight I noticed it in someone's story.



Both sims fulfilled a large fear while having the "boundless influence" perk.  In my case, a fortune sim was either demoted or fired.  The sim in this pic feared a relative would meet aliens, or so it is claimed.  Both incidents happened with all major EPs installed.

The point it brings up:  might they have meant to only multiply gains x 5?

THe 5x influence perk is susceptible to overflow due to TS2's use of int16 for data storage. If you fulfill a want that grants more than 6K influence with the 5x perk, you will instead overflow and lose influence.

Now that you mention it, in my case the sim may have been topping a ltw;  it's the only reason a sim so far into that perk tree should be working.  As for this pic, who knows?
