Title: Are these Pescado hacks still necessary?
Post by: Bluescreen on 2008 March 11, 08:07:33
Hi,

I have these old pescado hacks in my game which aren't in the FT hack directory any longer:

- fishpolefix.package
- fruitbowl.package
- ghostbuster.package
- kickthecheat.package
- noretiredjobspam.package
- novelprogress.package
- sandcastlefix.package

Are these hacks obsolete or are they still needed?

Thanks for your help.
Bye, Bluescreen

- fruitbowl, ghostbuster and kickthecheat are in the objects directory, not the hacks directory, so they are ok (or have been updated) for FT.

- noretiredjobspam has most likely been rolled into wfsanity, since it's about the wants panel spam.  All the wants & fears panel hacks have been rolled into wfsanity.
- fishpolefix fixed a problem with smart milk resetting when fishing, but there's a later hack that deals with smart milk resetting (nostupidonreset, which is in the test directory).  Or it may have been rolled into fish&harvest fix.
- novelprogress has been withdrawn due to the new way novel writing is handled in FT, I believe.
- sandcastlefix.  I have no idea why this isn't in the FT directory.  Either another hack now handles it, or perhaps the glitch it deals with was fixed in one of the BV patches.

According to Pes the sandcastlefix is obsolete and part of the vacationfixes.package (as stated in the "What's in YOUR Downloads" thread.)

If you have Freetime, your BV (and earlier) patches will not be run.  In theory the fixes should have been included in Freetime, but there is evidence that some of them were not.  It's a case of finding out as we go.

- fishpolefix.package
This item was rolled into fishandharvestfixes. It is no longer a standalone item and should be deleted.

- fruitbowl.package
- ghostbuster.package
- kickthecheat.package
Standalone objects, function as any other CC furniture, only better maintained.

- noretiredjobspam.package
Merged with wfsanity.

- novelprogress.package
Discontinued due to massive novel-writing changes in FT.

- sandcastlefix.package
Merged with vacationfixes.

Ohh lovely! I found this thread while searching the forums for the exact same reason... finding out the fate of some Awsome hacks that I had in Bon Voyage and are not in the FT directory.

In fact, I have a few more, and I haven't found anything about them -- so what's the deal with...

commstereofix.package
engagewantfix.package
norandomcrush.package
petsp0-servicecallfix.package

?

If it's not special-issue, not in the Director's Cut, not in Playsets and Toys, and not in a standalone package, it's scrap. Period.

Best bet with a new EP is to always delete Pescado's hacks, and put in the new DC for the EP (which is why it's good to keep his stuff all in one sub-dir). Then just delete/disable the ones you don't want.

Oh yes, and check here at least once a day for updates, especially the first few weeks after a new EP comes out.  The updates and bug fixes usually come out fast and furious.

Oh yes :-)

More or less what I do. Remove all hacks (not only Pescado's), then refill when updates are available. And the FTP here is one of my most frequently visited places on the net...

I just don't write much because I don't often feel I have anything pointful to say. So I end up posting either to (a) ask about stuff or (b) say pointless things. Sigh. C'est la vie  ;)
