51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting Maxis-Made Sims in the Sim Bin on: 2006 April 22, 05:15:25
Yea, the best thing to do with the pre-made bin sims if you don't want to play them or nuke the whole neighborhood is to stick an empty lot somewhere and put a tool on it to turn them into townies, like the old simlogical teleporter plus bush, or the enhanced one here in Phesantry that lets you make them downtownies.  Move the bin sims to the lot, turn them into townies, and set them loose.  I played all the regular bin sims, but turned most of the Uni bin sims into YA townies/dormies.

That is what I did.  I also use the painting to give them some skills and a job and Lord knows I give them a makeover.  It used to be helpful for adding to the dating pool.  Now I use it more to have more townies to shop in my stores and more potential employees.

I am so glad to put this hack back in my game!  Stupid dates all want to dine out but then they spend all the date time talking instead of eating their paltry bowl of mac & cheese.

I've been watching for this 'notification' as well.  And not been too shocked to not see it.  Maybe it will come with the patch of the patch of an upcoming patch.

I've switched all the computers at work and home to Computer Associates products.  Their antivirus is very good and they are also the makers of Pest Patrol.  IMO it's the best spyware product available.

Adding Bluewater Village to your neighbourhood adds about 75 character files.

I added BV to my mess hood and it added 77 character files.  What really ticked me off is that the playable Sims they had in there have these huge families trees of dead people.  So I'm assuming (dangerous, I know) that it added character files for all these dead Sims.  What a waste of space.
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dumb question about LotCatalog directory on: 2006 March 09, 02:38:41
I almost did this when moving my Lot Cat to my PC from my laptop, but luckily caught myself.  I'm a bit obsessed with the organization of the lot cat and do all my building and what not on my laptop when away from home.  (It just won't run TS good enough to play compared to the pc).  But, I can tell you that I move my whole lot cat back and forth between systems and have had no problems with that.  yet.

OK, my business is making something like 15k a day on average, so one day i was home and decided to check in, after short while of talking (my ranking is 8 ) the manager told me everything is fine and thats it!!!!! No money nothing at all
tried a few more times and all the same what is the problem??

Income from the remote business arrives at midnight each day.  If a business's hourly average is a loss (less than $0) the owner simply recieves $0 each day they don't personally run the business: they won't ever remotely lose money.

Sorry, that was in a Note box.  Should have included it the first time probably.  Hope that helps.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Managers, have anyone successfully trained a townie/NPC manager yet? on: 2006 March 06, 21:46:28
From the guide:  (with a bunch of useless words deleted as I'm typing on my laptop)

The amount of income the owner recieves each day is based on the hourly average income from the lot over the last five sessions as shown in the Cash Tracker.

The daily decay can be reduced by two-thirds if the owner calls into the business each day.  Even in the owner calls diligently however the business stops producing daily income after nine days.

Your Sim needs to check in each day for each business.  When Sims call to check in, a progress bar marking the process of the call appears above their head.  The higher a Rank the business has, the shorter amount of time this consumes.

The first day of remote running, the base income is automatically reduced by 20%.  Also, the first day and each day after owners allow a business to run without them, the amount of income decreases by 30%.

To restore remote income to full (if it hasn't completely decayed away) or restart it, the owner must travel to the store and run it for at least four hours.  The next day, the new income will be based on a new hourly average and decay starts over from there.

There's also tons of formulas in the text that makes this even more confusing.  Smiley

Can someone pls say what is on that post?  I can't go to BBS! I might go blind if I do. Thanks

1st post in that thread  (I need a drink before reading further)

I've already got another problem. *sigh*
My Sim family bought a community lot business, then traveled there in their car and spent a bunch of time getting it started. I saw that I was able to save and everything there, figured it was because it was their business. I was happy to be able to save, and decided to try saving and quitting from there as it was getting late and I'd want to play again there the next day.

Saved and quit successfully, although the game gave me a message about how the next time I played I would have to start at the community lot and take my Sims home from there. Didn't have any problem with that.

Today, I went back into the game and first tried to enter the community lot directly. That didn't work, just loaded up the lot without a family, you know, the way community lots normally are when you go into them without a family. No problem, kind of figured that wouldn't work.

So then I went back to the neighborhood and clicked on the family's house. The plumbbob over their house was a darker green than usual and when I clicked to go in, it said that they were visiting the community lot so that's what would load up. So...game loads with the family screen this time, and eventually loads the community lot...but it was the same as before, with live mode grayed out with just buy and build mode.

What do I do? Not many people have OFP yet, I know, and most are too busy playing right now...but if anyone can help, please do

Can someone pls say what is on that post?  I can't go to BBS! I might go blind if I do. Thanks Grin

65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What must NOT be put into inventory? on: 2006 February 09, 18:56:43
I've recently been informed that the latest version of the debugger should fix this problem.

It fixed it.  I thought I had the most recent version, but I did not.  So I upgraded an adult-made Sim (again) and was able to move them into a new house with out locking up and with no continual want rolling.  Now will have to re-upgrade the whole hood of adults, but that's better than never being able to move them into a new lot.

Thanks, ZephryZodiac for you help.   Smiley

I've recently been informed that the latest version of the debugger should fix this problem.

But if I already Upgraded PreUni Sim prior to the Jan 26 release of the new debugger, I cannot upgrade them again, right?  I don't think I get that option a second time.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What must NOT be put into inventory? on: 2006 February 08, 16:14:42
The problem can also be caused by having the extra want slots from using the debugger.  The answer to this is, first move your family to the bin, then enter the house in build mode and make a slight change to it, save, exit and then move your family in.  It's a nuisance, but at least it works.

That could be it then, as this is a new hood and I have upgraded all the adult Sims with the debugger.  I will give that a try.  Thanks
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What must NOT be put into inventory? on: 2006 February 07, 20:49:45
I had real problems moving sims from Downtown to Pleasantview with stuff in their inventories including the smoogo.  The lot I moved them to refused to load, when I finally got to the lot the sims were frozen and their want slots were rolling merriliy.  I ended up having to move them to an empty lot, selling everything and then moving them back.  (I couldn't even open the inventory on the lot I'd moved them to!)

I'm having this problem in my game if I move a family in an existing house to the family bin and then into a new house.  I thought it was just in my old hood that is horribly bloated, but it happened the first time I tried in my brand new hood with less than 100 characters.  The only thing in either of the Sims' inventory was their cell phones, a couple of love notes and one computer.  I sold everything else before moving.  I have no idea what is causing this.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't load DT lots in new hood on: 2006 January 28, 07:37:11
Try sending them to the lot by taxi and see what happens.

Very interesting.  I went to a new Sim and had her call a taxi.  Took her to a DT lot and all was fine.  Had her take a taxi to the lot that would not load previously and all was fine.  Took her home and had her drive her car DT and all was fine.
Went back to my original Sim that had problems and had him take a taxi DT and all was fine.  Took him home and had him drive DT to the same lot that would not load before.  (I was ready to blame my problems on the Smord truck at this point)  It loaded fine.
Went to yet another new Sim.  Had her try to drive DT, lot would not load.   Angry
So, I have decided that I will have to take all Sims DT in a taxi before I can take them in their car/truck.  What a PITA.

Thanks, simmiecal.   Smiley

Try sending them to the lot by taxi and see what happens. When you were constructing the lot, did you changelotzoning at any time?

I will try that.  And no, the only cheats I use while building are the snapObjectsToGrid and 45DegreeAngleOfRotation.  Probably because they are the only ones I know.  Smiley

Do you happen to have crammyboy's NormalClothes mod? If yes, you need to install his ClothingEventFix too.

I have both of those mods installed.
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't load DT lots in new hood on: 2006 January 28, 06:04:00
Which lots are you going to specifically and have you tried different ones?
How are you getting to DT - taxi or car?
Are you going as an individual sim, as a date or an outing?

These are lots I've made, so the names would be useless.  Yes I have tried going to different lots.
Almost all my Sims have cars, so they are taking cars (or trying to).
Going alone.

Also, I checked the character files to see if the NPC were created and 7 had been created since my last Sim I'd made.  I've looked at my error logs, but have no idea what they mean or which ones are relevant to my problem.   Huh
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can't load DT lots in new hood on: 2006 January 28, 05:46:49
My Pleasantview or ville or whatever it is, was finally getting so screwy... I gave up.  I started a new hood and used the delete all characters after creating my Uni and Downtown.  Then I made my Sims (horribly boring task).

Now I'm having a problem I was having in my old hood.  When I send a  Sim to a DT lot, it loads DT then it sits on the loading the lot of choice forever.  If I look at Task Manager, my CPU is just churning away, the program manager says the program is running (not listed as not responding) and I can hear Sims talking in the background, playing music, toilets overflowing.  Any ideas?  I finally made Pleasure Sims and they're gonna be a real PITA if I can't take them DT.

In case it's needed, I have plenty of hardware.  P4 2.7Ghz, 2Gb RAM, 256 ATI x700 PCI Express video

Thanks for any ideas.

When NL came out I moved all my mods onto my desktop and put them in as I saw they were ok or were re-released.  I still have some left in that folder and was going to just delete them, but figured I'm come to the experts first.  Are any of the following ok to put back in, no longer needed or still awaiting updates?

InvisLightController
nobuskers
nodeanspam
nonpcspam
notelepathy
