(Nearly) locked out of career track, WTF???
« on: 2005 August 10, 12:36:31 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I have a Sim in my prosperity challenge who has  LTW to be chief of staff (what a shocker). It took nearly two full Sim weeks for a medical job opening to even show up, and I had her checking the newspaper every day and the computer as well for most of the second week. Every day it was the same crap, show biz, crime, culinary, natural scientist. WTF is up with that? I guess this is more than a bitch than an actual question Tongue but it's got me wondering, is it random what jobs show up? This is really weird because normally I can get my Sims the job they want (or that I want them to want) within a couple of days and the medical career has never been this scarce.

We seem to be running into the same problems lately Jen Cheesy. I hate that the computer can't be re-rolled (term?) to spin up new job offerings. I had a sim wanting to become a mad scientist. Luckily it was the second LTW and she already had permanent platinum. It took ages for that particular job to roll up/become available on the computer. Again, luckily she had enough asp points to purchase the elixir of life, otherwise it would have been impossible.

Thank goodness JM has work-arounds to re-roll the LTW, or get a greater variety, to at least kind of match what is offered with that what is wanted.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to get that mod or my neighborhood will be filled with chiefs of staff and mad scientists. Tongue How many hospitals can one neighborhood have, anyway?!

Ooooh, I got my lips ripped! How did I earn that honor, I wonder?

Laurenke how is it possible to have three sets of lips ripped off?  Were the last 2 just ceremonial? Grin I usually use the Insimenator (sp?) to get the career I want, especially for those new careers I've downloaded, because in Soviet Russia job definitly chooses you.

Duck: You get more after X number of posts.  I think the second pair came on after 300, and I don't remember what the amount was for the third.  You, too, can have three ripped lips like me if you sit around your computer all day and have no life.

I just wonder where JM keeps all these ripped lips!  Do you think he has a freezer in his basement?

I've been finding the same problem with the hospital career, but I wonder if it has something to do with the number of sims already in that career?

I dunno, I thought that too...I only have two Sims currently in that career though, plus one retired and one dead, and however many townies are in that career Huh I'm pretty sure too that I've had several Sims in the same career in one neighborhood, but maybe not.

I do know it's got worse since Uni!  And it's far worse than it ever was with Sims1!  But the darned Criminal Career doesn't usually take long to appear - I want a decent custom career to replace it!

Duckspeak, when you use the Insimenator to get them their career, do you still get the apsiration credit if you pick one they wanted?

I don't know about the Insiminator, but if you shift+click on the newspaper with testing cheats on, you can choose your career and I'm fairly certain that way fulfills the want.

Yes, if you use Insim to get a job, it fulfills a want, if it's there.
