Title: Changing the voice?
Post by: Mens Mortuus on 2007 May 25, 19:00:38
I know I've read someplace you can change a sim's voice, but I can't recall where... but it's not the sim I'm interested in, it's Servos. Is it at all possible to change that awful tinny "voice" to a human sim voice? I dress up my servos as androids, and the clinkety-bleep-clinkety does not go down well.
*rants about silly movie robots sounding like people anyway*

SimPE. It's under one of the tabs for the sim information. You have to change the coding, so it would be best to look at another sim for the replacement reference, then copy and paste to your Servo.

Funny, I'm planning to do the same thing, but I love the robot voice -- it's the ugly Maxis Servo look that I can't stand, and I'm still working on figuring out how to minimize reversion when they visit other lots. Any tips?

Complete replacement sets is the only way I can think of to completely prevent revertion.

I'd like to prevent Servo reversion as well, but I don't know what "complete replacement sets" means in this context.

Thanks, it worked. Just for fun I let it go to a comm lot, it was hilarious hearing that metal robot speak in a sim voice :D Normally I just lock them at home with Inge's prisoner token.

I mean mesh and texture replacement, to change all servos into a new shape.
Individually changed servos will revert, unless someone finds a way to make a no reversion hack.

Heh, I suppose that would work to prevent reversion too.

Hi Sorry to rake up an old post, but I am having a problem with changing the voice.... I copied a "Voice Type" from a sim, and put it into the Servo's "Voice Type" and he still makes the servo noises... is there something else I am supposed to do as well?

Thanks

Rich

How many different voice types for Adults are there anyways?

I tried copying the voice from a Servo over to a "human" Sim once and nothing changed either.

Did you choose the right sex?

Something's changed since BV. Servo's back to metallic voice, and I tried copy pasting the voice data, but no dice. Tried several adult male voices.

Maybe when SimPE is updated it will save properly - it could be a SimPE issue and not that anything in the game has fundamentally changed.

I know adults have two distinctive voice tracks each for the males and females (four in all).  All other ages groups share the same one.

It's kind of weird sometimes when I play my remixed Pleasantview (which I'll soon be getting back to now that I have BV).  Nina has Dina's voice and Dina has Nina's voice.  It takes some getting used too.  Especially when I'm back and forth between the remixed Pleasantview and a stock Pleasantview.

However, the male and female voices cannot be changed over, except by using SimPE so that you treat males as female and vice versa.

There's a 'no NPC revert' hack floating around somewhere (MTS2?). I'm not sure if it would work on servos, since they are playable, but it might be worth a try.

The NPC no revert does not affect voices... only clothes....

I really want to make some of my servo's have a voice....

I did what the person said by changing the voice type code in simpe, but nothing happend... do all sim voice codes work....?

Should do, I think.  What I usually do is copy and paste from a sim whose voice I know is working fine.  However, be careful...I freak out at the thought of hundreds of servos all saying "Abaladabijay!" to every sim they meet!
