Title: help! reinstalling the whole game
Post by: Ellie on 2006 April 06, 16:55:34
due to a crash I had to reinstall Windows, meaning that I had to reinstall Sims 2 as well. I have all expansions and backed up all downloads before reinstalling and the only neighbourhood I played, N001. I installed every EP in order, put the files back in and started the game, but the lots won't show. The EP neighbourhoods (Uni, downtown and bluewater village) are not there, neither are my families. There are just a few original Pleasantview houses, with some strange graphics as well.

What did I do wrong?  :-[

Is your back up from the Neighborhoods folder located in My Documents/EA Games/Sims 2/Neighborhoods or did you grab the N001 folder from the Programs Files / EA Games location?

it is from the my documents -folder.

but i just realised that i only copied the characters and lots -folders and not the neighbourhood manager-file. That would probably be needed? AAAAAAAAAARGHHHHH!! stupid me. Did I screw everything up now? I so liked the neighbourhood and had finally made families with many generations :(

But the character files are still there, is there any chance to get them back with Simpe or anything?

Thats why I always copy the entire Sims2 folder, I don't trust myself not to forget something important.

I think you're done for.

Usually I copy the whole sims2-folder as well, but this time my hard drive was so full so I only copied what I thought was most important. Well, my fault and I learned from it. But luckily I found an older backup from just before installing OFB, and so I could save my favourite sims and now I am going to start over and make my own townies as well which I have wanted to do for a long time anyway. So it's not that bad after all :)

Bluesoup, does "done for" mean I've screwed it? Sorry, English is not my first language and I've never heard that saying.
