I'm interested in the answer to this too, and I don't want it to be overlooked because it is at the end of the prior page.
2  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod is not yet compatible with the expansion Pack on: 2009 November 23, 14:49:45
I'm having a core mismatch.  My first guess is that it requires me to have the patch for WA, though I hadn't seen anything about one.  However my guesses have been wrong before, which is why I'm posting this.

*goes hunting for patches to eliminate first hypothesis*
There HAS been a patch for WA, so I suspect your hypothesis is correct...

Hm, I can see the 'Modify' button just fine, it's on the top right hand corner of the post, second from the right. Undecided

I can see the modify button now, but I could have sworn it wasn't there before... must be early onset Alzheimer's!

So which particularly stupid things do they whine less about?
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: is there a hack that on: 2006 April 27, 23:29:49
One suggestion is to take control of your potential date using a hack like my control-this-sim.  Do this before you ask the sim out, and check when he/she has to go to class next. Then use the sethour cheat if you have OFB or the insim if you don't to change the time to a time that your date doesn't have class. You can then make them unselectable (like usual) before you actually ask them out.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't use sales socials on some visiting sims from other lots on: 2006 April 02, 15:53:46
If you use the 'no playable shoppers' hack, also get his money order, and use that to control playables coming to the lot.

Yep.  Thanks for the suggestion; I had forgotten about that fine tuning being available.

I did confirm the problem I had seemed to have something to do with the family funds of the affected families.  When I played the affected family and increased their fundage, I then was able to complete the sales socials on the original lots.  The amounts the affected families had were low, but not so low that they couldn't pay to get on the lot.  And like I said these family members would sometimes (often even, if the price was reasonable enough) choose to pay on their own, without the sales socials.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can't use sales socials on some visiting sims from other lots on: 2006 April 02, 03:03:14
I've got a couple families that I can't use sales socials on when they visit my sim's business.  I've got a ticket machine, and they are considering paying to enter, but whenever my sim tries to do any of the sales socials, it sets it up (turning my sim and the visiting sim to look at each other) but then it just drops out of queue, without playing any animations or affecting the buy bar.

I always play with testing cheats turned on, and there are no errors generated when this happens.

This never happens when a townie is considering going in; just the playable sims.  When it happens, it happens consistently for all family members.  However, these sims do sometimes purchase a ticket -- I just can't influence them when they are deciding.  It's gotten irritating enough that I'm going to put back in JM's "No Playable Shoppers" hack, but I did like having the playable sims come by once in a while...
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This is a store.. you are a customer... BUY SOMETHING! on: 2006 March 13, 21:14:31
some sims are so poor and they just come to my store to hang out and never buy anything
I'm wondering about townies. Don't most of them only have a few thousand dollars? At some point will they run out of money altogether and stop buying anything?

This has not been my experience.  Since I've used the JM's No Playable Shoppers hack, I haven't once had a sale turned down due to lack of funds.  I think townies must have unlimited funds... I routinely sell them several plasma TVs!
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid Sales Employees! on: 2006 March 13, 15:05:47
Green haze = bad - drops sims motives rapidly
Pink haze = very good.  Several together will keep a nearby sims motives maxed, except for energy.

Does what type of haze it is depend on anything, or is it just random?
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid Sales Employees! on: 2006 March 13, 14:42:21
I am telling you servo + snapdragons is the answer to everything. At first I was hiring them by moving them out after getting them skilled up etc so I could assign them to sales, but really its not that critical now that servo is queuing up do chores every sim hour. Plus...I dont have to pay him/her
What special role do snapdragons play?  I haven't used them much... the only thing I've noticed is them generating some cool haze around where they are placed every now and then.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid Sales Employees! on: 2006 March 13, 14:36:23
The problems you just mentioned aren't even the worst of it. Several of my Sales employees (who have worked themselves up to a Gold Sales Badge at this point) keep unnecessarily using Dazzle and Hard Sell when either 1) the target is close enough to buying that Basic Sell would do or 2) the target is in a bad mood/has low Customer Loyalty and thus doesn't accept the interaction.

I've had to stop hiring Sales employees and reassigning the ones I did have because they were making my business lose lots of Customer Loyalty Stars.

Does using dazzle and hard sell unnecessarily have any negative consequences?

I think selling to a customer with bad mood is forgivable, because in the sim's world, noticing a customer's mood is a rare skill and normally takes a lot of time.  (Of course it's a lot quicker with my Business Adjuster, but that's a cheat.)

On the other hand, my original complaints are in my view, unforgivable.  Anyone should be able to see that someone else is taking care of the customer, or that the customer has already purchased the item.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Stupid Sales Employees! on: 2006 March 13, 00:50:30
I can't believe how buggy the Maxis sales code is... my sales employees are constantly wasting their time trying to sell stuff the customer has already decided to buy!  And they are always trying to compete for the customer my sim is taking care of even though there are others that are going unhelped.

Wouldn't it be nice if sales employees would never go after a customer that has an interaction with a player sim in queue?  And when the interaction does bubble up, would it not be possible to check to make sure the sim hasn't already moved the object into their shopping bag?

Probably Pescado's upcoming autosoc sales interactions will be better; then I may just fire my sales force and get a bunch of Sales-Servos.  Smiley  If you do improve on Maxis sales techniques, JM, could you allow us to replace the Maxis routines with yours for hired sales employees?
15  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Playable Shoppers on: 2006 March 12, 16:05:44
This is an awesome hack!  Since I've had it, I haven't had any sim complain that they didn't have enough money to buy my overpriced stuff.  Smiley  I guess townies have unlimited funds?

I assume you must be modifying separate BHAVs than twojeffs visitor adjuster, because (at least so far) the two hacks don't seem to conflict.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Nightlife Romancemod in /ffs/nl/test/ on: 2005 December 11, 00:44:27
I've noticed that the romancemod has shown back up in http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/nl/test/.  I'm interested in helping out testing it... how is it different from the pre-nightlife version?  Has it been updated with just the old functionality so as not to conflict with Nightlife, or does it do things differently now that we have Maxis' version of chemistry?

(After all, I won't be very helpful testing it if I don't know what it is supposed to do.  Smiley)
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Furious State-Any Mods/hacks to get around this? on: 2005 November 30, 13:35:57
I think you can set the furiousness with the debug options, so it might assist with stories that way...

I've had Sims who are not furious steal newspapers randomly - they all seem to be the ones with the fewest Nice points, as far as I can tell. It's usually the same few who do it.

I think I remember seeing where you can set it, but can you clear it?  If so, how?

The only way I know how to manually clear it is the InSim, which in the current version has a bug where if you clear being furious with one sim, you clear being furious with all sims.  Eric is supposed to fix that in the next release, though...

What I would rather see is a hack that made it so when my romance sim apologized to his girlfriend that caught him cheating with someone else, it would clear the furious state with him, but not with the sim he was cheating on her with.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dear JM on: 2005 November 27, 22:44:01
I've been using autosoc without problems w/ NL.  It doesn't use the new interactions, but it still seems to work as well as before.
19  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Stuck Object Remover on: 2005 November 23, 01:03:49
Yes!  I always have problems with stuck objects in dorms!  Thanks for making this!
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Furious State-Any Mods/hacks to get around this? on: 2005 November 10, 22:12:31
Uh, apologizing doesn't do squat for the furiousness. I've had sims that must have apologized 100 times in a row and I've had sims get their relationships back up to 100/100 after being furious with someone and they still stay furious until that time is up! They'll happily hug the person and kiss kiss greet them and then later steal their newspaper and kick over their trashcan.  Roll Eyes

And this is yet another reason why we desperately need a hack to set the "furious" timer....

Karen

Yes!  I couldn't agree more.  Wouldn't it be great if apologizing actually made a big impact on the furious timer?  Then I'd encourage slap fests... they'd be fun! Cheesy

21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Furious State-Any Mods/hacks to get around this?--Insimenator has it now. on: 2005 November 10, 22:08:55
ok for those who dont know Insimenator now has the option to set furious or none furious. This would be good if you still want some people to kick each others butts all day and others to still love each other after a major breakup. the link is. http://www.insimenator.net/viewtopic.php?t=403

Worked great for me.

Hmmm... it doesn't work all that well for me, but at least it is something, I suppose.  The current version seems to have a bug that if you clear being furious with one sim, you forgive all the sims.  Not quite what I want...  if sim Amy catches sim John cheating on her with sim Betty, I want to be able to make Amy forgive John while still being furious with Betty.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Furious State-Any Mods/hacks to get around this? on: 2005 November 07, 22:27:44
To return to the topic of the thread, in my new neighbourhood one of the YA's in my first dorm has 3 lightning bolts for one of the dormies.  Unfortunately, before they realised this, they had managed to get on the wrong side of each other and are now sworn enemies (the poor male has lost two fights to the female dormie).  He is -100/-100 and totally furious towards her and even though they have the 3 bolts, whenever he looks at her he cringes and pulls a face.  The problem is that he only has 2 in Nice and she only has 3 and neither of them has stopped poking/shoving/attacking the other long enough to realise they fancy each other like crazy.  They match in everything - signs, aspiration, turn on/offs, the lot.  Absolutely made for each other.  They'd be hilarious to play as a couple ... I wonder if she'd accept a flirt???

Well, in this particular case, no new hacks are required!  You can up their STR and LTR values with any number of hacks or even just the testing cheats if you want some positive interactions available to you, but for that couple, having them fume a bit about each other even though they have high STR & LTR sounds like it would fit in just fine!

Returning even more to the original subject... a problem I'd love to have a hack or whatever to help with is getting sims over being furious without removing the effects of being furious globally.  I want my romance sims to get slapped around when they get caught cheating... and to be able to selectively have the townies angry enough to dump trash, etc.  I just want to be able to get them over it early using a manual cheat when I want to.  I want my sleazy romance sim to be able to talk his way out of getting caught!  Cheesy

There are any number of hacks to change STR or LTR, or other relationship flags, but (to my knowledge) no easy way of removing or accelerating the furious state.

23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Invisible hot tub on: 2005 November 05, 22:34:55
So did you ever figure out what was causing this problem?  Because I'm having a similar problem in the dorms right now.  This happened to me once before in the dorms too.

In the dorms, you know how things in dormie rooms become invisible?  Usually they become visible when you enter the room, when you go into build mode, or if the dormie moves out.  However, now in two separate dorms I've had a dormie room's objects become invisible all the time, no matter whether the dormie leaves, a player enters, or if you go into build mode.  And... just like your hot tub problem, I can't select the objects to delete them and start afresh.

One time it happened was right after I got uni (so, without nightlife) and one time just now, w/ nightlife.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Furious State-Any Mods/hacks to get around this? on: 2005 November 05, 14:09:00
Hey, I like the furious state, to a point.  It can be funny, sometimes!  I just want the sims to get over it more quickly.

I'd like one of two hacks to help facilitate it.  One fix would be a hack that made the apologize remove the furious state between two sims.  Can apologize ever be performed autonomously?  If so, I'd want to remove that too.  That way, my romance sim will still get slapped silly (which can be fun to try to avoid) but it won't be too bad when it happens.  He or she can just "apologize" (yet again... perhaps!) and be done with it.

Another useful hack would be to greatly speed up the time it takes for sims to get over the furious state on their own.  How long does it take now?  I know it depends on how furious they are... my romance sims gets over their furious state of being slapped in about half the time it takes for the lover that caught him/her cheating.
