Post by: sorchin on 2008 February 16, 08:49:06
Would I do this with SimPE?
If so how? I''m sure there is a way to change the in game cost of objects but I am unsure how.
Hopefully someone can help..
Thanks

Edit the OBJD field marked "price".

SimWardrobe has Paladin's SimCategorizer, which, IIRC, does the same thing.

I know it used to. I used it to lump the decorative stuff I used frequently at the head of each category but pricing them at a buck, and to raise prices of "want" objects.

I'm not sure how or why, but this was the first thing I learned to do in SimPE.

Thanks all:
I have seen pics where there is a "Filetype" list on the left side of the window in SimPE but I can't figure out how to access it. It doesn't show up for me. This is how SimPE looks for me when I open it up.

Is the pic below the area your talking about OBJD?  How do I get my SimPE to look like it?

Thanks in advance...

The file you opened up in SimPE looks like a recolor file, not a mesh file. Recolor files don't have OBJD.

I see ok. To make sure I got this. Any package file with "mesh" in it somewhere, I should be able to change the price, correct?
Thanks again

Objects aren't usually marked with mesh.  The creator can call the package anything they like, so it might just be called chair.package or mygreattable.package.  You'll just have to identify the item yourself.
Also, if you intend to change the properties of a maxis item, the process is a geat deal more complicated.  Only downloaded custom content can be easily fixed.

I use jfade's Pets Custom Content Updater (http://www.djssims.com/index.php?category=1&subcat=5) to identify mesh files in a folder. Select a folder and hit "Pick Selected Directory". It will list all mesh files in that folder.

sorchi:

You need to reset your view (look in the extra/preferences menu). The resource llist window has gotten undocked, so even when you open a package with an OBJD in it, you won't be able to select one to show up in plugin view.

You can also change prices with the Sims 2 Categorizer from simwardrobe, which might be a little easier.
